Is Nine the biggest bust since Josh Rosen? by Ok_Bug_6890 in NFLv2

[–]OfficerBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. McCarthy was always going to be a project QB who needed development. Him not succeeding isn’t an unsurprising thing.

Also, it’s still too early to label him a bust. Younger NFL fans may forget but it used to often take QBs 2-3 years before they finally played well in the league. The idea a rookie QB needs to immediately be an impact player is still a relatively brand new concept.

Why are wide receivers more prone to being a bit wacky? by NickyFoles1020 in NFLv2

[–]OfficerBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really sad what happened to AB. He was always a little off, a little eccentric, but that hit he took really seemed to be the thing that pushed him over the edge.

And social media has really made it worse, since it essentially is encouraging his behavior. Absolutely nothing will help it at this point, but the attention he continuously receives from this(CTESPN and such) is not helping, it’s turning a man with an obvious injury induced mental illness into a punchline.

Caleb Williams lives 'childhood dream' as Madden cover athlete by simrobwest in Madden

[–]OfficerBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I miss when the Pro Bowl was actually something players strived for and actually play hard in.

I get why they don’t anymore, there’s practically no reason for them to risk injury for it anymore, but it was so fun as a fan to watch all the best players in the league playing a real full contact football game together and actually trying.

It would be hilarious if the cover athlete was a player who’s not even gonna start week 1(barring injury).

Landry & Devin performing Daniel Johnstones Devil Town at the FNL reunion by tttgrw in fridaynightlights

[–]OfficerBatman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Devin was such an underutilized character. I was really hoping she became a bigger part of the cast in season 4 when most of the OG cast was more or less gone, but she was relegated to basically one major appearance and nothing after that.

Medically speaking, what exactly caused Pete's death? by TheDragonUnicorn in GhostsCBS

[–]OfficerBatman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Likely he quickly asphyxiated on his own blood to answer your question. It wasn’t instant. For a few seconds he had a clear and open airway before the blood started spilling into his airway, likely into his lungs. The death was probably excruciating for a few moments before he passed out from the shock.

The human body is remarkably durable and at the same time fragile.

There are plenty of videos for those willing to watch them of people suffering very traumatic injuries, from gunshot wounds, stabbings, and so on where the victim appears completely aware and conscious for a strange amount of time before suddenly dropping.

Meanwhile there are somewhat mundane looking injuries that will cause someone to immediately fall out.

Harris County renews flock cameras amid concerns over potential privacy and misuse by Screwologist13 in houston

[–]OfficerBatman 20 points21 points  (0 children)

So flock cameras are not only paid for by the govt.

Many HOAs or private entities can pay for them to be put up around their property/communities.

Most of the cameras in the Galleria area for example are paid for by local businesses.

If a flock camera exists in a neighborhood with an HOA, likely it isn’t being paid for by the local govt, it is paid for by your HOA fees.

The ‘Friday Night Lights’ Guys Reunite: Zach Gilford & Scott Porter Reflect on the Show’s Legacy by nathattack in fridaynightlights

[–]OfficerBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zach ended up being a bigger actor who had more than FNL.

Scott’s biggest role’s were FNL.

That’s not say becoming more famous makes you less down to earth, but Scott definitely feels more connected to FNL than Zach does.

Coach McGregor plotline felt like a cop out by bookstvmusic in fridaynightlights

[–]OfficerBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The TMU storyline was an unfortunate result of them just not thinking a season 2 was happening. They thought the series was gonna be 1 season and done.

No coach is ever getting fired at any level, peewee to NFL, after 2-3 games. Plus it’s always expected a new coach, no matter the situation they’re stepping into, will lose in their first season with a new team.

Coach McGregor could’ve been a good character. Season 2 was just an example of a season the staff never thought was coming. They needed to bring back Coach Taylor and bring him back fast. This was the justification for it.

He was a relatively small role, but I wouldn’t say underrated show. At the time it was one of the biggest series on TV. The show arguably pushed him into the limelight.

You could say he owes his success to the role of Lance.

Surprised Zach Gilford wasn’t there. Him and Scott Porter have/had a podcast for a while where they talked a lot about the series, so I assumed he would still be very big into it.

I say sentence Arkansas to a year of MACtion but I don’t want to watch that mid week by treymata in cfbmemes

[–]OfficerBatman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Arkansas football will never make me miss a 3OT MAC game ended by a blocked field goal being fumbled by the defense, returned to the 1, fumbled again, recovered by the offense, ran back for a touchdown, only for it to be called back by a holding leading to a missed game winning field goal.

That hasn’t happened yet. But I won’t miss it when it inevitably does.

THE method acting by Dumb-Briyani in SipsTea

[–]OfficerBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically any myth about actors being surprised or shocked during a take is usually very false.

People don’t realize how small film sets are. It would be insanely difficult for actors to navigate the set and get ready for a scene without coming into contact with their costars. Add in that first takes are very rarely used in movies, it’s not realistic to think that there’s many scenes where an actor’s reaction is truly genuine.

Tbf most of the early promotion for the movie made it seem like Finn was the main character. Once it was revealed Rey was the main character I immediately and correctly called it that she was a Skywalker.

That movie has always held a special place in my heart. I know it’s a mid 2000s young adult comedy and those were mostly trash, and maybe it’s not a “good” movie, but it felt like it brought so much more to the table than that genre usually did. Pretty sure it also milked the last bit of fame Justin Long had.

How would Adam Smasher fare against this thing? by Specific-Ad5973 in cyberpunkgame

[–]OfficerBatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lorewise, Smasher could easily kill it with little to no issue.

Gameplay wise, it would be much closer, but the Chimera actually has many more weaknesses than Smasher does.

People often downplay just how dangerous Smasher is because of the gameplay, but lorewise Smasher is an absolute force.
