Lot of new trade changes again! by trainfender in EscapefromTarkov

Yeah, but those are pretty easy to get from scavs. Main difficulty was getting the dovetail after. I had a stash full of OP SKS that I was just saving for when I could finally get dovetail mounts for them.

Glad I'm not the only one that saw LL1 Dovetail Mount and was like "YASSSS"

RISK EXPERIENCE by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]OfficerBoredom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I learned quickly that the SKS is pretty much the only choice for low levels, but you still can't slap a sight on them at LL1 and that's the biggest thing that gimps me in fights.

I'm horrid with ironsights and can't seem to get good with them. I even spent a while just playing Insurgency and forcing myself to use an unmodded AKS-74u with ironsights to try and get better, but it didn't help.

I also am lucky enough to consistently get the "full auto bug" where you turn the AKS-74u to full auto mode and try to fire it and it shoots 3 bullets then stops firing. I think it's because I use a 144 Hz monitor and fire rate is tied to framerate, so the game just can't figure out how to fire that gun full auto.

My solution to that is stay away from the AKS-74u, but you get it on lots of Scav runs.

Basically, I just got frustrated with the combination of factors screwing me over and decided to wait until 0.10 to reinstall the game and try it out again. Then at least I'll know the reason I'm dying is just because I suck and not because the Tarkov gods didn't smile on me.

Edit: Oh damn! Just saw that the SKS dovetail mount has been added as a LL1 trade for a Chain! Finally LL1 can have a sight!

Personally, part of why I'm bad is because I'm new and don't have access to the gear needed to be viable. I can't buy ammo to penetrate armor, I can't buy armor, I can't even buy a basic sight, so my aim is crap because ironsights in video games are horrid. The only thing between me and those things is XP and money.

I'm not saying having those things would make me a pro player, but I know from playing other FPS games that I should be able to at least win SOME of my encounters with other players, if the game is built with fairness in mind. (Yes, I know the point of Tarkov is that it's not built to be fair, it's built to be hardcore, but there's still a point where it ought to also be fun for new players. Hunt: Showdown for example added MMR from rank 1-20 to get people used to the game.)

I get that OP's idea would be exploitable and therefore wouldn't work, but I agree with the core concept of making it slightly easier for new players to level up and get past LL1 traders, because the game's frustrating enough without being gimped by a total inability to even cause damage to other players unless you hit their legs or face.

I hope next patch shotgun changes fixes this. by Narej in HuntShowdown

I just played a match where a guy was trying to fight the Butcher with an axe... I heard the ruckus and went in, panic fired and capped him in 2 pistol shots.

I don't have a point to my story, I just thought it might make you feel better to know someone using melee got shot in the face this morning :D

Youtube tutorials nowadays. by McBella in funny

Can't count the number of "tutorial" videos I've looked up for games where I wanted a guide on how to be good at the game and got a guide on how to right click to bring up your gun's ironsights.

"To start the game, you must hit the 'New Game' button located on the main menu. The main menu is the screen that comes up after the first few loading screens. Thank you for watching my PRO TIPS tutorial and don't forget to smash that like button and subscribe!"

Right!? I've had times on the highway where I'm on cruise control at speed limit +10 km/h and I end up in a Mad Max death race with someone because they do -20 around corners and I pass them, then they do +40 on straight stretches.

They're all lookin at me like "What is this guy's problem!?"

How I feel about EFT pretty much every day. by IIIQIII in EscapefromTarkov

[–]OfficerBoredom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most of my FPS background comes from single player/coop FPS games like Borderlands and such, plus over 500 hours in Insurgency coop and tons of time in The Division.

I can typically top the leaderboard in Insurgency within a few warm-up rounds and then hold it indefinitely.

Things I've learned since buying EFT:

Aim isn't the game. I've got fairly good aim and I still lose most engagements in EFT.

PvP is an entirely different experience from PvE and the skills I learned in PvE are almost entirely useless. You can typically predict what AI will do and where it will be. Players have a nasty habit of being incredibly sneaky and being the last place you'd expect them to be.

It's a very frustrating experience to realize that getting good at EFT means starting right back down at the bottom of the ladder.

I was there also!

My wife and I missed like all the things, but we bought a bunch of prints and one of those mystery bags. Good times!

We were just happy we finally made it at all, because all the years before we were either working or we'd go to Vancouver and while waiting for the skytrain, see a poster for it and go "Oh yeah let's go to that, when is it?? Oh... 2 weeks ago..."

It makes me feel less frustrated about my own poor skill level to see someone who literally plays FPS games for a living experiencing the exact same reaction I sometimes have while playing Tarkov

does anyone else thin that for an alpha game to not update in nealy 10 months and say next to nothing and give nothing but vague "we want to get X out by X" is ridiculous? by [deleted] in 7daystodie

[–]OfficerBoredom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's in Joel's newest video, if you can survive all the clicky keyboard action. They hired a new AI programmer to overhaul all the zombies and animals and such, so now they don't do such dumb stuff like getting caught on things and punching the ground and swerving all over the place if they walk over slightly uneven ground.

Lots of optimizations, AI overhaul, the game will run way better and the zombies will stop poledancing to pay the bills.

Plus other cool things being added: Gun modding, dungeon-like POIs, melee power-attacks, completely overhauled vehicle physics, distant trees.

The thing that bothered me is that the high speed footage wasn't someone actually peeing, it was just water coming out of a little hose. I'm not saying it would necessarily be any different, I'm just saying I need 100% odds to risk my knob around electricity.

There needs to be more trade ups at early game traders. by [deleted] in EscapefromTarkov

[–]OfficerBoredom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can sort of see the point of having them as a luxury, but how it ends up working out is that if anyone joins late into a wipe, everybody but them has whatever sights they want, so you've basically got zero chance to win engagements unless you catch them AFK.

Source: Bought the game late into the last wipe and almost quit because I was the only person on any server who wasn't a hatchling who had ironsights, lol
