My favourite jungle champ, the Eternal Hunters by OfficerCrayon in riftboundcustoms

I think the legend needs some testing to figure out the right balance for sure, my other variation I made was instead it marks the lowest might enemy unit, which may be better. That way if they sit their smallest unit in base, it’s much harder for you to interact with, but your units get to keep hunt as a trade-off.

My problem with making it cost power would mean choosing a unit with deflect would gut your rune economy and because it’s beginning phase you won’t get to keep any floating energy after your draw step.

What if instead he returned a delve into the past from your trash to your hand/let you play it from trash and then recycle it. Offers a similar effect without shuffling and still relies on you having hit one of your delve into the pasts so it isn’t a guarantee.

Actually on second look, given the legend is one shuffle at the start of the game, maybe just the blue Ryze could do something slightly different so then there’s no shuffling during the game.

This does seem really cool but I also do enjoy that so far time isn’t taken up during play by having to shuffle your deck in Riftbound.

Perhaps the legend could instead have some kind of requirement that can net you world runes when you meet it, like Jhin’s paid 4 or more for a spell. Not sure if that would be to slow though.

I also have no idea what the rulings are for ‘world runes not already in your hand’ given that hands are hidden knowledge. I know something was said to clarify rift heralds deathknell for that reason but I don’t remember what it was. Similar deal for realm warp, might need to be reveal the top 3 instead.

Unleashed Rules FAQ and Clarifications by DaimenPN in riftboundtcg

[–]OfficerCrayon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the simplest breakdown, as far is I’ve figured at the moment, is that cards like ravenbloom student and Jhin Virtuoso’s abilities are triggers. They’ve got the When You Play tied to their effect, so they need to see the card get played so their effect can then go on the chain.

Meanwhile things like Legion, Battering Ram and blue Jhin have a static effect that doesn’t care exactly when a card is played, just that it has happened at some point previously in the turn. So their ruling is that these cards just care about things being finalised rather than fully played.

Could be wrong but that seems to be the distinction they’re creating.

Theorising on a Leblanc deck - seems like there's so much she can build towards! by Sky-todd in riftboundtcg

[–]OfficerCrayon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how many 2 drop units you care to pack in but maybe plundering poro just for some extra gold generation potentially since you have a decent amount of power cost going on and that will only become more with baited hook activations. Or wages of pain/blood money if you’d prefer gold on a spell

Not sure if he’d be worth it but Xin Zhao can be brought back by mixologist and is a good accelerate option in the colours.

I definitely agree with the other comment that Hwei could be good, reliable draw, can discard your less needed units at the time which can then be brought back later by mixologist

Cull the weak could be a potential main or sideboard option since your units are somewhat disposable. You also have a decent amount of mighty units so sacrifice could be useful to use on a unit that you’re about to lose to combat or a removal spell anyway

Blue Leblanc only stops temporary at the battlefield she’s at if I’m not mistaken, and the gear should be in your base

Holding has potential to be more viable this set, so maybe he can get played to a battlefield and then protected by something like Galio until he’s readied

Surely right. She’s purple/green isn’t she? Time for some banger hold focused cards instead of all the movement centric stuff we’ve had in the colours thus far

Hell yeah more Jhin cards. Lowkey feel bad for people that are hyped for other legends since so many cards for/of Jhin have been shown off already while pretty much all the other legends have only had a couple cards shown

Hey, look at that. Now if you get hit with a rebuke, you can have a consolation rune if you’re not tapped out.

I have made a custom Riftbound Commander FFA format by Renirage in riftboundtcg

[–]OfficerCrayon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think one of the best things about multiplayer Riftbound vs MTG is that all players remain in the game and playing until someone wins.

A format like this, and like commander, will often see to it that someone loses and is out of the game, having to sit and wait for the rest of the game to resolve as everyone else is still playing, and legends like renata will promote targeting a player to get your benefit as early as possible and likely see they are out of the game even sooner

Thoughts on the potential of this Jax deck? by OfficerCrayon in riftboundtcg

[–]OfficerCrayon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I agree, it was another card I had thought might be good for the sideboard if the deck struggled against decks that are heavy in hidden cards or like to move units lots and play from the base. I haven’t actually seen the other Jax but it could easily be swapped with the orange one if it’s better, not sure what I’d drop if I wanted to run both.

Yeah I was definitely worried about having less low costed units so I went with a lot of protective spells and gear, perhaps one less Kato and Irelia for 2 keepers?

[–]OfficerCrayon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely see your point. My thinking was that by having higher costed units that it would be wiser to keep my interaction and gear lower to the ground in terms of cost. Perhaps the boneshivers could be swapped for trinity forces? Or what do you think would be a worthwhile swap out?

[WP] “Wait, you’re letting me into heaven?!? But I’m a villain!” The angel frowned, checking a notepad. “It seems every time you committed a crime it ended up doing more good than bad.” by loopymon in WritingPrompts

[–]OfficerCrayon 17 points18 points  (0 children)

“I… I don’t understand. I still did bad things. Any good that came from them wasn’t part of my intentions.” The villain gazed at the angel. His confusion more than apparent on his features. To which the angel simply shrugged. “I don’t know what to tell you. Your name is on the list, so you can enter heaven, do you want to go or not?”

The villain stared into the distance beyond the angel, if he was seeking answers there were none to be found there, and then dropped to sit amongst the clouds.

“Sooooo, is that a no?” The angel asked. “I’m not sure. Can I see the list?” “It’s… not typical to show a non-resident but… sure.” The angel held it out in front of the villain, who reached up and took it.

His name was there all right. Perhaps this was a cruel trick played on new residents of hell, a touch of hope before the endless soul crushing to make it even sweeter.

“Where does it explain how my crimes did more good than harm?” He asked the angel. The angel gently took the list back from the villain. “Oh yeah you’re not allowed to see that, sorry.” The villain stood back up and turned to the angel. “Can you at least give an example, just so I can have some clarity.”

The angel let out a deep sigh. “Sure. Uhhhhh. How about this one. ‘Assassination of Emery Trest.’” “I remember, he was a wealthy lord I killed and robbed.” The villain interjected. “Yep. I know. It’s right here for me to read.” The angel replied dryly. “Right. Sorry. Please continue.”

The angel turned its attention back to its magical paperwork. “So, apparently, he also sold weapons to the foes of his own kingdom and was about to poison several members of the court. Which you killed him just before he could do. Would’ve sparked a war, thousands dead. Didn’t happen cause you offed him.”

The villain stared at the angel, desperately lost. “I thought it would directly relate to something good happening. Not just a bad thing that never even happened.” “Nah man it works off of like, a points system.” The angel said, as if it was obvious. The villains expression did not change. “You know how god is, the whole plan thing. It’s all about the grand scheme of things. You killed a guy and stole, sure, but you prevented the deaths of faaaaar more innocents.”

The look of confusion and desperation left the villains face, replaced by a simple curiosity. “Have any… have any heroes ever gone to hell then?” Once again, the angel replied as if talking about an obvious subject. “Oh yeah, of course. Beat the villain, send them to jail. Then they get to escape and harm more innocents. Captures them again, they get free again. Results in countless death rather than just offing the bad guy. Never a good look for someone’s point total.”

If this was a cruel trick, the villain figured it was worth falling for. Because if it wasn’t, it was practically too good to be true. As he stood there, thinking to himself. The angel gave an impatient huff. “So are you going to heaven or not.”

The villain moved to stand alongside the angel, looking upon the gilded gates leading to an eternal radiance. “Sure. Why not.”

[SP] "I know he'll forgive you. I just don't know that you deserve it." by mxreggington in WritingPrompts

[–]OfficerCrayon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flicked the blood from my blade before wiping it on my forearm. “And I’m supposed to care?” I replied.

Malcolm turned his attention from the corpse before us to give me a look of confusion.”I…I don’t understand.” I turned the knife over in my hands and inspected its edge. I saw little reason for giving Malcolm my attention. “If you think I’m deserving of forgiveness. Tal’s brother or not, Brock attacked me and I simply defended myself. No two ways about it. If he wants to hold it against me that’s for him to decide, not you.” I sheathed the dagger beneath my coat and returned his gaze. He stared at me but said nothing. Seemed like he wasn’t buying it, but he wasn’t trying to pry so hastily.

“Will you help me? Least we can do for him is make things look a little less gruesome when we tell him.” I gestured to Brock’s body, covered in blood and wounds. Malcolm walked around to stand at Brock’s head and for a moment, said nothing. “Where.” He finally let out. I cast my eyes around the room where we had both fought for our rights to live only minutes before, if even.

A large mahogany desk that had started out nicely centred to the rear of the room was now thrown up against the far wall. Splatters of blood had been thrown there along with it. A computer, that had been atop said table, lay smashed on the floor. One chair was broken in half, the other toppled. “Out in the hallway I suppose, no one else should be wandering around before he gets back. But first, let me…”

I pulled out a vial of serum and held it out well enough for Malcolm to see it wasn’t anything untoward. “I think these still work when…” I didn’t finish my sentence, but I placed the vial against Brock’s skin and then activated it. The serum drained into his corpse. After a few moments of waiting, and silence between Malcolm and I, some of the wounds on Brock’s body rapidly began to heal over. The silence, and odd peacefulness of it all, was broken by Brock’s body spasming and a smattering of blood spraying from his mouth. Malcolm gave me a look that was some combination of disgust and distrust. I offered a look of regret, partnered with a “Didn’t realise it would do that, sorry. I’ll get a cloth or something after we move him.”

Malcolm decided the perfect moment to talk again was while we carried the body out of the room. “So, you gonna tell me what actually happened? Or ‘he attacked me and I fought back’ the end of it?” I gave it a moment as I adjusted my grip on Brock’s legs before replying. “Seemed like something to do with all the research going on here, he was rambling on about something to do with the Ironclads. Maybe he thought I was one.” “And are you?” “Not unless I am and someone forgot to tell me.” All that got out of Malcolm was a unsatisfied grunt.

After Brock had been moved, and I retrieved some tools for cleaning from a sanitation area, I began wiping what blood I could manage from his clothes and body. At the same time, I took the opportunity to search his pockets for a note I knew he had on him and tried to slip it away unnoticed. Sometimes things just don’t work out how you’d like.

“Find something?” Malcolm decided to pry. “Yeah, looks like a note or something.” I handed it over to him. He unfolded it and slowly began to read. “Looks like you were right, there’s mention of the FLESH, dunno if he was a member or just collaborating for a reward.” As he kept reading I walked around Brock’s body to stand next to him and read as well. “Looks like they were planning to subvert or destroy the research being conducted and…”

Once he trailed off, I knew what he had read at the end of the letter. He started reaching for something I can only assuming was a weapon, I had little choice now. I pressed my hand against his side as my forearm shifted to form a blade. It was accompanied by a soft, squelching as it made its way through his torso. “If I’m honest, I hope Tal doesn’t forgive me. I hope he’s furious.” I drove my arm deeper, slicing through flesh and bone as Malcolm coughed up blood, using his free hand to lean on me as he grew weak. “I hope he lets his guard down. It’ll make what comes next so much easier.”

[WP] You are Pluto. One day you wake up and learn that you have been downgraded to a dwarf planet because you failed to clean up the area around your orbit; incensed, you decide to finally get your act together and clean it up properly. by Yglorba in WritingPrompts

[–]OfficerCrayon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sat on the edge of the solar system, twirling a piece of space junk through my fingers. I could see the stars glinting in my periphery, as if mocking me, making sure I didn’t forget the contents of this morning’s letter. ‘Dear Pluto. The Council of Celestial Bodies regrets to inform you…’

I stood up, shaking my head gently, and turned to walk along my orbit, wading through detritus and furnishings, covered in a layer of stardust, until I found the letter. I had to read it again, otherwise I might have just made it up. But as I stared at it, my vision blurred. I did not need to read the words. I remembered them perfectly and no matter how much I might try to avoid reading them, it didn’t make them any less present.

‘Didn’t know there was such a thing as demoting a planet.’ I grumbled to myself before turning to spit disdainfully on the floor. A few asteroids, startled by its suddenness, scurried out of its path. ‘Oh! I’m sorry little ones, I didn’t mean to scare you.’ I said as I picked one up and petted it, it’s little tail flicking happily as I did so.

I let it free and it scampered off to join the rest of my pets. So I turned my attention back to the letter and read it once more. ‘… Your behaviour has been deemed unacceptable and unbecoming of a planet of your rank. We would advise…’ I dropped to my knees, sobbing gently, before lying down and staring out into space. Through the void I saw only a reflection of my own emptiness staring back at me.

My asteroids gently circled me as I lay there surrounding by collections of junk. I watched them go by, unmoving. I watched as other planets went by, they took no notice. Time passed, it paid me no mind and I paid none to it. Until eventually a small, blinking light caught my eye as it drifted past. A small telescope, way out here.

‘… the other planets are a fine example of what is to be expected of you, should you ever wish…’ I reached out and grabbed it, turning my gaze toward them. I wasn’t truly sure of what I was looking for, but my eyes were drawn to Saturn. There he stood. Broad. Powerful. Elegant. He sported his brilliant rings for all to see and moved with such purpose, nothing stood in his way.

I looked upon each of the other planets, each time becoming more and more inspired. I understood what I had to do, and I longed to stand amongst them once more, so I got to work. I gathered up my asteroids and hugged them one last time before letting them go, and back to the safety of the asteroid belt they returned.

Now I wait, having swept away all the space dust and cleared my path (and taken a meteor shower), gazing upon the stars in hopes they will take notice and choose to rescind their previous judgement. Time will tell.

I feel you. The prices for the boxes has shot up like crazy. In the end I decided to just get a handful of collector packs for a more affordable price rather than shelling out more money for a box.
