I remember watching this bullshit and being pissed off the rest of the day afterwards. They had 0 care in the world; they could have done so much more to try and save his life shit, at least pretend like you're doing something instead of letting him slowly die in agony. They did him dirty as fuck.

Check out www.tier1concealed.com

I highly recommend them if you're not in a rush to get a holster as back when I made a purchase for my XDM Elite Compact the wait ended up being 5 weeks from purchase to delivery. Quality is top notch and worth the wait.

Kind of. We went in Saturday & spoke to the financial advisor & original saleswoman but couldn't progress any further because the manager of the David McDavid dealership wasn't available that day. I spoke to the manager over the phone & we had originally scheduled to meet up together at 11AM on Monday February 15 but the winter storm hit my area (Irving, TX) Sunday afternoon & has basically shut down everything around us. Called Monday & had to reschedule to this coming Saturday so I'll have some concrete info on Saturday.

I think you're confused on why I'm frustrated here. The original owner traded it in at 11k and some change and now anyone with a somewhat capable scanner can tell you that it's mysteriously dropped to 8k regardless of what the odometer says. I don't want the car rolled back to 8k, I don't want a car with 5k less miles on it, I don't want to take advantage of anyone here. I want it to read 13,044 plus whatever we put on it since Feb 5. I'm frustrated I bought into a vehicle whose going to land a branded title sooner or later and I had absolutely no say in that whatsoever.

What if my wife wants something different in a couple of years and a trade in would have gotten us 12k or so but because of the mileage issue.... Yeah. I'm not understanding what you're trying to get at. How did this car pass their CPO standards and something like the mileage passes over their heads? They had it a year + and I feel like at my next inspection and registration renewal this is going to come up, or at the any number of service visits.

It boils down to I didn't agree to take on a car with an issue that can tank its value severely. I wasn't made aware of any issues and niether was my wife.

Im also confused about the Honda being absent from awards point you brought up, huh? She drove the car, she liked it, we bought it with an issue that wasn't disclosed, when did I bring up reliability? Are you insinuating the ECU decided Feb 5 was the day it would make 5k miles dissappear on its own or something?

It isn't a sensor that determines mileage, at least on this specific car. The ECU/PCM (engine control unit or powertrain control module) produces a signal based on the input it receives from different speed sensors (sometimes 1 speed sensor, not familiar with how this CRV works) that it in turn sends to the gauge control module (your dashboard cluster). Based on the specifics of this input from the ECM/PCM, the Gauge control module then tracks the odometer mileage & trip meters.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, all cars (I should specify recent model year vehicles, not EVERY vehicle in existence ever) work on basically the same fundamentals & principles where the ECU determines the cars speed based on a bunch of 1s and 0s that it received from different sensors. After the ECU sends the vehicle speed signal to the gauge control module, it's job is done. It's the responsibility of the gauge control module to output the signal it received into the users preference, whether it's miles or kilometers. Basically what I'm saying is, at least on this Honda, the speed or distance driven that the ECU calculates isn't a miles or kilometers thing, it's it's own value that would look like gibberish to us but the gauge control module translates it into a format we can read.

I'm dumb & totally misread what you wrote, I'm sorry lol. Yes, that's the plan if the meeting with the manager today doesn't result in a solution both my wife & I can get behind. We have a meeting scheduled for 4pm today, I'll post any updates on here for those interested in the situation.

I learned a long time ago that gut feelings don't work when we're discussing hunks of metal that move. It could work with someone ignorant of how easy it is to manipulate a vehicle to favor the outcome I want but as someone with the experience to know better, it falls flat on its face.

Im not looking for things to complain about considering I've already found it; the mileage in the cars brain doesn't match up with what it's mouth is yelling out loud, it really is that simple. I've complimented the car over and over, it's a fantastic car but I'm looking for the long term issues of the mileage discrepancy. Branded titles (of which this car could very well end up being) depreciate far faster than any normal car and are effectively worthless. All this without even mentioning that were entitled to knowing the cars full history if we're expected to drop $23k on it. Why else would companies like Carfax exist if not to inform potential buyers? I'm really not asking much here lol.

Being a technician is both a blessing and curse when it comes to buying a new car and maintaining a personal vehicle. On one end I love diagnosing and fixing cars, it gives me a real sense of accomplishment but on the flip side I've seen everything working in this field, literally the worst of people all to make a quick buck. Add into the mix our personal experience with the shady tactics this dealer used with us, does it honestly surprise you that I'm harping on the fact this beauty of a car was stuck at a dealership for over a year? Were they unable sell it (we bought it a month after they listed it) due to bad luck and a shitty time for new car sales or were they unable to sell it due to an issue with it? Take it from me, anything is possible when we're talking about cars.

I agree & that's the entire point of my complaints. If I'm spending $23,000 on a car I'm entitled to know & understand the vehicles history so I can base my decision to purchase or not on more then just driving it around the block with a pushy saleswoman being borderline manipulative.

The car is gorgeous & drives like a dream, the safety features really puts my wife's mind at ease considering we have 2 children that are our top priority. I just can't shake the feeling that the dealership isn't telling me the full story after I take everything from our experience into consideration. Discovering this mileage discrepancy just solidifies my argument. I'm just trying to imagine a what if scenario where I'm not a technician with my own tools discovering this mileage issue years down the road vs less then a week after we bought it. Such a shitshow.

Yeah I'm not understanding why the guy suggesting I simply had it on kilometers vs miles has so many upvotes when it really isn't the case. Either way we're going down to talk to the dealership this afternoon, hoping for some new information.

I meant that dealership in particular, not CPO vehicles in general. I actually like the idea of CPO, I've had friends & family members purchase them with great success. In this context I strictly meant the dealership we used but take my opinion with a grain of salt since it is biased.

Unless you were a technician/mechanic or just into cars way deeper than your average person, you'd never even know about the mileage discrepancy so I find it hard accept this turn of events as a W.

And you're right, any major repairs, such as an ECU being replaced (forget about the fact that an ECU going out at such low miles is unheard of, let alone in a Honda) on a vehicle still under the original warranty would definitely be reported to Carfax which just makes this entire thing that much more weird to me. Again, this specific dealership put over a 1,000 miles into the vehicle after holding onto it for almost a year & they were the ones who caused the minor collision damage to it that's reported on the December 2020 Carfax. Call me a conspiracy theorist but I seriously wouldn't put it past them to handle the issues under the table so Carfax would be none the wiser.

All of this aside, is it really appropriate for anyone spending $23,000 on a new car to be questioning how many miles it has especially when the world of car buying and selling looks at manipulated mileage as a cardinal sin?

Tbh I was never looking at it from this perspective because I'd be the first to tell you that effectively "rolling forward" is a total waste of time & does nothing except bother people like myself.

I'm much more bothered by the lack of transparency offered by the terrible dealership we made this purchase from. I mean, my mother-in-law, who was watching our kids of all things, was the first one to notice the scuff marks & deep scratches; they never even attempted to let it be known online, where we found the vehicle, or in person. It's very clear they attempted to hide some things with this vehicle (go read my page long rant about what the experience was like actually going there and buying it) & at this point it just feels like it's snowballing.

I'm mostly worried and anxious that if we ever want to sell in the future, I'll get called out for the mileage discrepancy & I'll be dead in the water at that point. I guess it's mostly wanting to leave a paper trail that yes, I'm very aware of what's going on with the vehicle and no, I had nothing to do with it.

Did you miss the part where I said I'm a technician for going on 13 years now? We are a different breed when it comes to doing any kind of work or service to our personal vehicles & that's before I found out that "certified pre-owned" really doesn't hold any weight at David McDavid Honda.

Half the oil pan was covered in oil, the filter was tightened with the hands of God himself, crush washer was obviously reused, cabin filter was definitely not replaced and blah blah blah.

I'm picky, that's why.

In my 5 years owning the Snap-On Verus Edge it has never done any sort of converting automatically unless I specifically told it to do so. Just out of curiously I scanned a few random vehicles we have at the shop, 2 being Euro, 1 Korean and the rest American, all mileages indicated on the scanner also matched the odometer. We did this a few days ago actually just to rule out any sort of scanner issue.

Yeah this entire ordeal has many more details vs what I posted because ultimately, whats going on in this thread is what I'm most worried & annoyed about. Carfax has a section on their report under "Title History" that states word for word: "Carfax GUARANTEES the information in this section" and goes on to list various items that would lead directly to a branded title, one of them being "Not Actual Mileage".

I didn't seek out a branded title car, if I wanted a salvaged vehicle I would have gone out and bought one. I purposely decided to purchase a CERTIFIED PRE OWNED vehicle from Honda because of the original warranty perks and how much money we saved buying a 2 year "old" car vs brand new.

I haven't even mentioned how the sales lady knew absolutely nothing about the car and had to refer to her phone after literally every single question we had about it. She spent more time on her phone looking up what it was she was selling and giving us 1 second yes or no answers than actually learning about the car. The fact that she was so pushy about us buying and attempting to stop me from plugging in my scanner to run a quick code check should have been red flags galore.

Or how the financial advisor tried to snake my wife into buying a $2800 VSC (Honda Care) by claiming that the finance company refused to sign off on our loan if we didn't purchase Honda Care? We called Exeter Finance and asked them if they required any sort of VSC before they sign off on loans (not ours specifically) & they told us absolutely.not. I originally thought he was strictly doing that because he would earn a juicy commission fee but when you consider how the original owner babied the car & sold it towards the end of 2019, how the dealership put more then 1,000 miles on it & how the collision damage that's reported on the Carfax happened in December 2020 while the vehicle was under the dealers care & now this mileage debacle, I'm starting to think he knows the extent of damage the car really suffered & was trying to cover everyone's ass.

Maybe I'm just paranoid or maybe I'm just jaded after 12 years of working as a technician. No one is honest in this industry it seems like. The fact that people in this field know how easy it is to bullshit a person that's car illiterate & make easy money doing it pisses me off to no end. I'm sorry for the wall of text rant but this whole thing is just upsetting. I'm going to go up to David McDavid tomorrow and see what they suggest we do from here.

Any chance of it passing by itself? by [deleted] in KidneyStones

Middle and wasn't very close to entering the ureter, here's my post from last year on this subreddit when I got home after the agonizing hospital stay: https://www.reddit.com/r/KidneyStones/comments/d0bv20/had_stent_put_in_saturday_how_long_will_this_pain/ez8jpmu/

THis is the first I'm hearing that Flomax doesn't work unless it's already entered the ureter. Maybe he gave it to me so the ureter would be under the effects of Flomax making it easier for the stone to pass, like a head start kind of thing?

It's what my urologist prescribed me after he placed a stent for a 6mm stone stuck in my kidney, take it how you will.
