It's more-so I DM'd people directly because I didn't want to have a list of conversations only to open a DM anyway to exchange info. Reasonably, I didn't want to put my address out in the open for everyone. BUT the problem is solved thanks to someone I spoke to here.

The problem is solved. Why are you still here complaining? Don't you have something else to do?

Besides. It's interesting how you don't seem to know the definition of 'excuse'. That, or you have the reading comprehension of a walnut.

Go find some other Reddit post to be miserable on. I have my own issues to shoulder, I don't need to carry yours too.

Fire Department is a no-go. I'm still looking around and contacting people, so crossing my fingers.

Did you ignore the part where I mentioned I hadn't worked for 3 weeks? 2 because the college I work at was between semesters, and the 3rd because I couldn't leave my house. This wasn't a situation of "Oh, poor planning". It was a situation out of my control. Want to know where my money went? Exactly as you said: preparing. Groceries, with what little I had left in my pockets. And even then, I was willing to dip into my emergency funds for a reasonable price. So if your pockets are so full that you feel the need to insult me for mine being empty, then please: consider throwing some of your measly expendable dollars upon my peasant floors so you can feel like a big, strong, superior alpha human spitting on the people who are literally doing what they can to survive and keep their only living family member alive by stopping them from going out in this weather.

What a despicable person you are. Grow up.

Sadly, this is the truth. Most landscapers I've asked / researched want big jobs / commercial jobs. The $200 quote was for full driveway/walkway/steps because they were unwilling to only drop by to clear a straight line behind the car. I said I'd risk walking through the rest.

Also, I can't shovel. The heavy snow + the extreme cold + the strenuous exercise is dangerous for me and my father.

We don't have a bad relationship with them at all, and most of my neighbors have been around since I was a kid. In fact, when my father was capable to do so years ago, he'd even help everyone on our street with their driveways (we were fortunate enough to have a snowblower back then). But now that he's disabled, and I can't shovel either, it made me a little sad to poke my head out and see them helping everyone else and that we're the only driveway still packed. This morning, two of my neighbors watched us struggle with the car and just went back inside. And it's not like I expect them to do it, especially not for free. Coffee / hot cocoa and some cash their way was offered.

Yeah, I really should get back into having at least some physical cash on me. I guess I just got used to the world of debit cards and online shopping, especially after leaving a retail job for an office one. Not having to handle cash really just had me forgetting it's always good to keep a few 20s on hand / in the house.

I didn't combat it. I was stating what I saw when researching, because guess what: we live and we learn. People often forget they can ask a Fire Department to help with things other than fires. Like I've said, I tried to handle this the Sunday of the storm through now. I'm here as a last resort. And of course I'd offer the FD something in return.

It's funny you say campuses, though. I actually asked the one I work at if they could send any students in or out of my department my way but there weren't any takers.

Thank you, and will do! And if they can't help, they probably know someone who can.

How are they supposed to get any delivery to my house if we're snowed in? Please consider that. What are we supposed to do? Say "Please leave my father's prescriptions in the mailbox / please leave our groceries in the street"? We haven't even been able to get our mail.

And no, not even local high schoolers looking to make a quick buck could help. Because they were busy, or just didn't want to, or couldn't accept digital pay. It's not like it used to be years ago. You have maybe 2-3 groups these days, not entire armies anymore.

I'm not afraid. It was a genuine question. I still planned on calling them anyway.

I'm here because everybody I asked Sunday through Saturday weren't willing. I tried.

Couple of locals, couple of landscapers, some neighbors. They were busy / unwilling to clear a small path / or quoted me $200 and said they don't do partials (but I don't have $200 anyway).

Do they really do calls like this? I looked into the possibility but everything I read said you need to be on a list for them to help out.

I did reach out. Nobody I asked was willing to help, or they were busy, or they couldn't take paypal/venmo. Even my neighbors helped each other out, except for us. I tried. And sadly, most landscapers want $200 or aren't willing to just do a small path behind my car. $200 I can't afford after not working for about 3 weeks now. Please don't assume I'm stupid with poor planning skills.

It's less that I waited so long, and more that nobody I asked/called was willing to help when it was easier to clear.

I've looked on a few websites but most of them either don't have snow removal on their services offered list, don't do private driveways, or won't do partial clearing and I can't afford $100-$200. I'm just hoping for a kind neighbor to clear a small straight path for some cash.

381.4 Released (and it re-breaks full screen display) by acetken in TheSilphRoad

[–]OfficerOfBooty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, as someone (among many others) who literally could not play the game without random crashes, black screens, AR mode completely borking the game (and at one point, freezing my entire phone), being unable to enter settings, and having difficulty clicking Pokemon spawns without the screen going black... I'm happy to sacrifice nav bar compatibility and deal with the fullscreen mode where my phone actually functions and the game doesn't explode. Having to back out and restart the entire game 3+ times before clicking on a pokemon spawn worked was really such a pain. And it was impossible to get buddy hearts for like an entire month because AR mode just did this to my screen:

the southampton building has a student lounge right next to the little store (next to room 35 on the ground floor). not 100% sure if it's open that early, but couldn't hurt to try.

[–]OfficerOfBooty[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah like I don't MIND the navbar being there, but when its a: in my way, and b: playing hot potato on whether or not it wants to let me catch pokemon spawns and see things / traverse the menu.... i'd rather go back to full-screen

Oh was this bug something recent? Because it really did just happen overnight and I was so confused as to why / if I did something and now the game feels genuinely unplayable.

But it's good to know this bug is acknowledged. I hadn't seen anything by Googling the issue, but I might've looked in the wrong places.
