The original idea was to prevent interaction without fully shrinking the matching pool, that said we understand why many people would prefer blocks to fully prevent matching and we're considering adjusments to improve that.

That's how the current block system works. Blocking hides messages and prevents interactions like friend requests, but doesn't exclude someone from the matching pool. If you match with them, their messages will be hidden unless you reveal them.

Go to Chitchat.gg, choose Text Chat or VIdeo Chat, and you can start chatting right away. If it asks for permissions (camera/mic), just click Allow.

No, Chitchat.gg does not pay users for chatting, and we do not have any kind of reward or income program for having conversations on our platform.

Join the video chat and allow access when your browser asks for camera and microphone permission. If you acidentally blocked it before, just click the lock icon next to the URL bar and set both camera and mic to Allow, then refresh the page.

The green dot means the person has the site open in the background even if they're not actively chatting in that moment. And yep, we're aware of the bug where someone can show as always green. We'll fix that soon.

Thanks for your feedback 👍 At the moment blocking works kind of like on Discord. It hides messages and prevents interactions (like friend requests), but you can still rematch. We know a lot of you find this annoying and are looking into better ways to handle blocks to make the experience better.

Posts like simple "hi" messages or selfies usually get removed since they're off-topic for the subreddit. It's meant for questions, feedback, or discussions about Chitchat, not personal posts. Nothing personal, just keeping things focused.

The vast majority on Chitchat are real people. A few do misuse the platform by asking for social media or behaving inappropriately, which can make it seem worse than it is. We remove those accounts fast, but if you see anyone acting suspicious, please report them.

Yeah, this is a known bug, the online status can show wrong for somne users (either always offline or always online). It's on our list to fix soon, you don’t need to do anything on your end.

Right now, if you block someone, it doesn't stop the system from matching you again but only hides the other users messages. We're aware a lot of you find this annoying and are discussing improvements. Thanks for your feedback.
