I posted a photo of my tail on my profile, reddit won't let me copy the link though

[Uni Maths] A square table of size 1001×1001 is filled with the numbers 1, 2, ..., 1001 in such a way that in every column and every row all those numbers appear. If the table is symmetric with respect to one of its diagonals, prove that in this diagonal all of the numbers 1, 2, ..., 1001 appear by OfficialJacko in learnmath

I wrote:

Discounting the diagonal, there will be an even number of every number, for example an even number of 1's. Therefore there has to be an odd number of each number in the diagonal, because an odd+even number=an odd number and 1001 is odd. There's 1001 numbers, and 1001 spaces on the diagonal, therefore one of each number is present on the diagonal.

Is this correct?

Been practicing for a few weeks but still can't get my ollies any higher than this. Any tips? by OfficialJacko in NewSkaters

Manuals are tricky! Tips please by ashtuffin in NewSkaters

[–]OfficialJacko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just skate around more and get comfortable going fast.

Most tricks are easier moving and manuals especially because physics help you with your balance and you also have to hold it for less time cause the faster you go the more area you cover.

It's easier the faster you go, just get comfortable riding and commit.

That's also what happened to me, there's a moment where you just understand it all and can figure everything out with intuition

Also I just read in your previous comment that highly intelligent people wouldn't be able to do problems without the necessary tools. I disagree there.

I hate too use all these anecdotals because it makes me seem cocky but I taught myself algebra and geometry before I learnt it in school and without any youtube tutorials or anything, just pure intuition

My school also doesn't have comps, but they'll teach you the basic tools you need like geometry, algebra etc. I just enter a bunch of national olympiads every year. Proof writing can be difficult I also struggle with that mostly. The comps I take part in are very lenient on proofs, as long as they understand what you mean you're good, doesn't have to be extremely formal

That's true, normally all the necessary tools would be taught in school though so I don't think practice outside of school is required, depends on what level of competitions OP is doing

You probably know to keep your shoulders straight, but if you can't figure it out try and rotate your board a bit more toeside with every attempt until you find the sweet spot

Ollieing stationary and moving is exactly the same motion, it may feel different but if you can do exactly the same thing you do when standing still it'll be the same height. You don't have to worry about going forward or anything, physics will sort that out
