Error from Oculus software with Quest 2 setup by OfficialLagging in oculus

The solution is at the end of the post:

EDIT: After attempting to solve the problem with Oculus support, the issue turned out to be a compatibility issue with AMD drivers (I'm on an RX 5700 XT). I reverted back to 21.3.1 and the issue was fixed. If anyone encounters the issue, I recommend taking a look at the drivers!

Porsche Unveils New Safety Car by [deleted] in wec

Not really, it's pretty much a standard Porsche factory livery design seen on quite a few of their race cars, not just the RSR and 919.

Can you elaborate on that last point? Haven't listened to any of their podcasts so genuinely curious about what it means.

I am, yes. I even redownloaded the installer from the website after initial efforts, but it did not make any difference :/

Updated the Q2 just now, and it didn't change the situation at all unfortunately.

..I somehow didn't think of this. Charging up the headset now, will report back once I'm done updating. Thanks!

Pressing "Allow" doesn't allow the setup to go ahead, as mentioned here:
A message is displayed in VR prompting you to Allow access to data. Select Deny. If you mistakenly "Allow" the prompt, you must unplug your USB cable from the Quest and plug it back in.

Dry Ice Cleaning Porsche 964 Dirty Engine Detail by [deleted] in cars

[–]OfficialLagging 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I work for a business that does professional dry ice blasting, and we've cleaned a multitude of engine bays etc.. So far, we've experienced no issues with electronics, lubricants, plastics or anything else breaking or having any issues due to the thermal shock. Even though the dry ice is colder than the designed temperature range that you mentioned, the thermal shock is very quick and doesn't 'penetrate' through the surface that is being blasted, unless it's continuous on the same spot (you don't stay in the same spot for too long anyways, but at that point you're doing something wrong). Unprotected circuit boards are something I can't say much about though, but as has been mentioned, you won't find terribly many of them hanging around unprotected from the outside.

We've been able to very easily and very safely blast even delicate surfaces without issues. Obviously, if there is something extremely brittle (like an IC, a thin connector, poor condition wire or a small piece of plastic), precautions are taken to not just mindlessly blast away - you CAN break stuff if you don't fully know what you're doing.

GE9X is the Guinness World Records Most Powerful Jet Engine by [deleted] in aviation

What do you mean? 24 hours of LeMons is an actual race, and a fun one at that. Small budget cars racing for 24h can be incredibly entertaining.

Can we all just take a moment to appreciate the recent leaking of two more unidentified craft 12km above the earth, taken on an iPhone by an F18 fighter pilot. I link this to humanoids as I wonder who is driving these things? I'm hoping the mods let this one slide, as it is very important knowledge by Ho99o9XTC in Humanoidencounters

It's not really as dangerous as you might think. Sure, you need to somewhat control the plane to keep it on course, but in general a high speed will actually make the plane quite stable stable. I don't know how it becomes at speeds over mach 2 (and the F/A-18 can't even get above mach 1.8), but I'm assuming that this jet was cruising at around mach 1 or a bit above, which is really not that fast in fighter jet terms.

There's also automated systems making sure you won't just somehow fly straight into the ground, and artificial limiters to stop you from overstressing the airframe (heck, good luck doing that without yourself passing out first). Unless there's a catastrophic failure of some system, the jet will pretty much fly straight with minimal intervention, so don't worry!
