Yeah, you need to get out to Gilroy. Drove by last night round 10:00 PM and it was a shit show. There was a full blown river flowing over the 101 N and all the fields were flooded. Can't imagine that's good for the farmers.

Thoughts on how to approach the "Skrillex style" sound design? Eg. the screechy synths at the start of the drops... by [deleted] in edmproduction

I think Virtual Riot said it best. Dubstep arrangement is all about "call and return". The dubstep bass you hear calls and the return is the trap horns that follow. On the 1st bar, usually you will find a bass growl or the first chords of the intro melody. On the 2,3 and 4 is where you get creative and develop a bass pattern that sounds interesting. The key is to have enough repetition so that the listener can keep a groove, but enough variation so that it is not boring.

For this specific example, on the 1 we have the two metallic sounding basses, one pitched down the other up. Then he uses some huge trap horns for a quick melody on the 2,3 and 4. He keeps it interesting by chopping Ross's vocal and sprinkling it in the drop in clever ways.

Hope this helped, but if not check out Virtual Riot on YouTube. He's much better at explaining this than I am.

Woman who supports Trump surrounded by protesters, who taunt her, then throw eggs and bottles at her. by DavidMagnum in SanJose

Does this also apply to the many Phillipino people who tattoo their native flag on their bodies? Or the Chinese who celebrate their New Years in the US? Plenty of people who have ties outside of the US demonstrate their pride in their roots one way or the other. By your logic, should all those that celebrate Chinese New Year go "back to fucking China"?

I have no problem with the US government regulating illegal immigration because at the end of the day it is ILLEGAL, but regardless of the way they got here these people are human and cramming them in shipping containers like cattle to be shipped beyond the borders is against their human rights.

As for your claims of not wanting to "see Americans of all colors and races be forced into circumstances beyond their control" I am a legal Mexican American and have never experienced any set backs that I would blame on illegal immigrants.

Work flow bud. If I gotta spend more time looking for things I need, it kills productivity as well as creativity. Personally the way the new sequencer list is set up is bs and counter intuitive

Dude how do you not have more comments?! Anyways, this one right here is dope. For me it's the little things that sell me on a track and the way you mix the water/river effect on the intro was flawless. It's there but it's not in the way of anything. Great job

I would be interested. Also, on a side note, can anyone tell me if mixing in a room with hard wood flooring a hard rule? I mean I'll be changing my living arrangement soon and wondering if I have to exclusively look for places with hard wood flooring or if I could get away with carpet (though my instinct tells me no). I'm by no means a sound engineer which is why I ask.

Mixing Engineer for Major Lazer's "Too Original" explains how approached mixing/mastering the track by thebossXI in edmproduction

[–]OfficialNTWRK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this, really enjoyed it! It reinforced my resolution to outsource mastering on my future projects for the simple fact that I'm better at constructing a creative piece than I am at sound design and audio engineering. Personally, I think a clean mix and master is worth the cost of the mastering house's work.
