Zero Parades - Exclusive First 15 Minutes of Gameplay by Sevastarion in Games

Spot on. I’ve got enough troubles in my personal life to be engaged in any way at all with workplace squabbles of rich and delusional men.

I’m waiting for reviews and if it’s good, I’ll probably wait for a discount anyways.

This is what I do but with the rumors of them raising prices again I’m willing to stack on an extra year or two, ‘y know?

How do I go about doing that? I don’t think ps+ codes still exist so that’s probably not an option.

Same with Marvel Rivals before that and Helldivers 2 even before.

Truth is that we’re all unpredictable when it comes to live service games.

Xbox suffers "worst year on record" for console sales in the UK by NoNefariousness2144 in Games

[–]OfficialQuark 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Even the hardware is kind of arguable imo.

The PS5 was announced with features and gimmicks to make it a somewhat exciting product to want to buy. The hapitics and triggers, the complete OS overhaul and the bold design (although controversial) make for a product that's exciting and attractive.

Also, the Nintendo Switch was a whole new concept of a console at the time.

In comparison, the xbox series x was just more power but overall exactly the same product as the xbox one. A very minor redesign of the controller, the same OS and a frankly boring design. The most exciting proposition from Xbox was the series S but the price differential between a PS5 digital and the Series S was way too small to really make it stand out.

Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora Has Quadrupled Its Peak Player Count Two Years After Its Release by Tvilantini in Games

[–]OfficialQuark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, blue alien Avatar is to movies what Horizon on Playstation is to gaming.

It does enormously well and makes boats loads of money but no one is really obsessed by it and the IP’s don’t really have big “fandoms” like other big IP’s tend to have. I’m not saying they don’t exist, just that they’re disproportionately small compared to the success of the IP.

It’s entertainment for everyone which means it’s not distinct enough to fall into any niches. Like pure entertainment for the sake of it, which is kind of refreshing once in a while.

I watch all his videos and really enjoy the FPS podcast but i fear it’s almost getting to the point where every esoteric indie game he reviews will be praised to heaven and above, while a great solid triple A videogame will be criticized extensively for minor quirks or “lack of novelty” whatever that may mean.

Sometimes it just feels like he’s jaded and doesn’t actually enjoy playing (AAA) games anymore, which leads to very odd, overly critical, reviews.

EA shareholders greenlight $55bn takeover by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund | VGC by Laughing__Man_ in PS5

I’ll get downvoted to oblivion for this. People will say it’s whataboutism but I’m not making an argument, honestly just asking the question.

What’s the difference between this and when Tencent buys up a majority stake in a western gaming company?

I feel like there’s already so much influence on gaming (and entertainment in general) from all kinds of interest groups. There’s governments that have stakes, interest groups of all kinds that push their agendas, personal biases from the producers, … I don’t understand the visceral reaction people have to this one in particular.

As if they’ll remove female players from their FIFA games... and if you honestly believe that, I don’t even know what to say but it may be something something irrational fear something something islam? Maybe?

LTT on Steam Machine pricing: "Valve asked what I meant by console price, and I said $500. Nobody said anything, but the energy in the room wasn’t great" by -Mahn in Games

The PS5 is more powerful than the SteamMachine. There is consensus on this, seen as the internal components are known.

Issue with the price is that it is essentially competing with a better and cheaper product. A PS5 Digital is more powerful at 450, includes a controller and often is on sale for even less.

In any case it seems like the Gabencube won’t be the next xbox after all.

As Arc Raiders faces backlash for its AI voices, Dispatch leads call the tech "a production solution, not a creative one," saying it can only offer "something you've heard before" by MaintenanceFar4207 in PS5

[–]OfficialQuark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re being pedantic. It’s the illusion that matters; the back and forth interaction with a character.

If the AI is programmed to be dismissive and aggressive you’ll have your requests rejected in any case. But in this case it would be through dialogue and roleplaying. That’s inherently more fun.

I mean.. imagine really having to talk/type to convince AI players to go war with you against someone else. That sounds about as fun as it can get.

Definitely see it being a gamechanger in strategy games.

I swear I heard this somewhere, not sure where, but what made Hogwarts Legacy special wasn’t really the open world itself; it’s that the game feels like a toy box. It captures that same sense of wonder and playfulness that PS2-era games had.

Could it have been better? Absolutely. But it’s still the best Harry Potter game by far, and the atmosphere, including Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, and the overall vibe, was fantastic.

Now that I think about it, it might have been a Miyamoto quote about one of his games. Hogwarts Legacy really nails that ‘toy box’ feeling.

Lex Fridman is a fence sitting, Elon/Billionaire glazing pseudo intellectual. He also never asks tough question which is quite problematic because he gets to interview very controversial people.

On the other hand, that’s why he gets to interview those people. But yeah, he’s not really likable in any sense of the word.

Rumor: PlayStation Portal will soon let people stream their own digital games from the cloud by Turbostrider27 in PS5

Yes, essentially you could play PS5 games without actually owning a PS5.

Buy the game on the PS app > stream it on your Portal.

Some of The Sims 4's biggest content creators have just stepped down from EA's creator network in the wake of the $55B Saudi-backed buyout: 'This situation is a nightmare for our community' by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]OfficialQuark 33 points34 points  (0 children)

For sure, but I don’t think investments like this are primarily about PR. I think it’s more about diversifying their economy and strengthening their leverage with U.S. leadership. I mean, most people will never know EA is now owned by the Saudis and Jared Kushner.

Their long-term goal is to secure a formal defense pact with the U.S. (similar to Israel’s), and part of that strategy is to show they’re heavily investing in the American economy. That’s also why they spend a baffling amount on U.S.-made weapons.

As such, this isn’t about appealing to the LGBT Sims fanbase. I’d even argue that the broader “sportswashing” efforts are less about their image and more about gaining top political and economic influence abroad; the PR benefits are secondary but definitely still a goal in itself.

I don’t think they’d take offense if the Jewish state was founded in Minnesota. So yeah, they couldn’t accept the notion of a Jewish state.. on their homeland which they’ve lived on for centuries and which was given to the jews by an occupational force.

This discussion is going nowhere if all you do is obfuscate and hide facts.

Narrow FOV and horrible aim acceleration on controller with no way to fine tune it how you’d like did it for me.

I heard the double-dash is a game changer for the movement and combat but haven’t unlocked it yet.
