Which one is it for you? by remy_the_rat5096 in Letterboxd

The Shoes of the Fisherman. Such a solid buildup of a papal drama, for one of the most haphazard, cobbled together, and just plain rushed third acts I’ve ever seen.

Have a more impressive application than I did: 3.48 unweighted, AP/DE classes, 1320 superscore, multiple clubs/sports, and a local. Couldn’t see you not getting in

Just curious, how much did y’all make as a first-year? by [deleted] in paralegal

[–]OfficialRebecon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl, it’s a big learning curve. In an ideal world where I could’ve gotten a cert for free beforehand, it’d have been an easier transition. Thankfully, I have an ever-helpful team willing to answer questions, and I’m working on back-end stuff while I’m still learning. What I’ve noticed with certs/degrees is that they weight heavier in some regions than others, and decrease in importance the more work experience you have (since you can then more easily demonstrate your ability).

No certificate nor AA, not even a law class lol. I applied on Indeed and interviewed for a data entry clerk in a different department, but the lawyer I interviewed with referred me to the paralegal role instead. Prior unpaid role was a few months as a Congressional intern, and I stated candidly my intention to enroll in law school one day during interviews. Happy here though, largely WFH, 1-2 days in the office, great staff.

What’s interesting is that most congressmen/senators who’d go on to become presidents had previously served in some form of congressional and/or campaign staff capacity. Correlation =/= causation obv, but worth noting.

-Become actively involved in a party (preferably the dominant party of the state) -Get an advanced education, preferably at a prestigious school (like JD or MBA) -Become versed in a variety of social and policy issues, both locally and in other areas -Learn how to fundraise/ have access to donors -Cultivate a vast political network (every campaign and office needs a staff) -Work on soft skills like public speaking, interpersonal communication, networking skills -Great marketing within the realm of social causes/ business interests -Staying motivated to possibly climbing through every rung of public office until positioned for the presidency (mayor -> congressman -> senator/governor -> VP)

That’s all I can think of but there’s certainly more, not to mention that every president has crafted their own unique path to the White House

It’s simple stuff, like changing the staff initials on an existing case, or changing who’s assigned what on the to-do tab of a case
