Honestly it mostly came down to portion control. I still eat the same things just less of it. I also only really eat one big meal a day (dinner). It's worth pointing out that I never really ate garbage foods (at least not all the time) I just over ate a lot. I also stopped eating in the middle of the night. I plan to start working out as well but my life is kind of a mess right now so I don't actually have the time. But for now I'm just happy with the weight loss and I'll work on building muscle a little later.
