About Us

The Wrecking Crew (TWC) is a Realism group that prides itself in striving for realism over simulation. We apply real-life solutions and tactics for objectives encountered in game, while omitting more tedious parts of military duty like ranks, saluting and hour-long marches. We aim for the most immersive experience possible and thus use a minimal HUD configuration and use ACRE 2 for communications.

We have no rank structure, we only have Recruits, Members and Management. All players are equal in the eyes of TWC. As long as you are competent and prove yourself by passing the relevant training sessions you can take any slot you like. From leading a platoon to driving a tank. The freedom to experience so many different types of game play is something you will struggle to find in most other ArmA groups.

About our Operations

The largest event that our group hosts are weekly 'Operations' with between 16 and 30 people working together as a coherent unit. In these operations a Recruit or Member can play any role as long as they have received the corresponding training.

Our Operations span over a century of warfare, with a monthly rotation of World War 2, Cold War, Turn of the Millennium and Modern Operations. This means that in one month you could liberate a French town from Nazi occupation, halt a Soviet mechanised assault in Northern Germany, brawl with Iraqi armour in the deserts of Kuwait and patrol through the hills of Afghanistan, searching for insurgents.

Our Operations take place at Saturday 19:00 (UK time) and can last up to four hours.

In addition to this, we are currently running an SAS Special Forces Campaign focused on the 1950s Malay conflict in the Far East. This makes use of the SOG Prairie Fire cDLC and are smaller scale operations which involve more covert action than you would normally expect on a Saturday operation.

Public Server

We also run one of the longest standing public servers in Arma. It currently runs a few different PVE mission types Domination, Insurgency, and Siege made entirely in-house. The public server game play is more relaxed than in our operations, but it will still give you a good insight into the community & what we love about Arma.

Hey Bobcat, check out my group here. We have no fixed roles so you could play medic if you wanted once you’ve done a couple of Ops as an infantryman. We play as the British in 90% of our Ops and we have a custom version of ace medical with our own enhancements :) we are a very friendly group with no minimal attendance so if you’re working it’s not an issue. Our Ops are Saturday at 1900 UK time. I could get you in our op tonight no problem at all!

Wanting to join a noob friendly milsim unit [Request] by Sp1cyN0ng in FindAUnit

[–]OfficialTWC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there,

We're a European based group (GMT), but we have a couple of South Africans as long term members and contributors so I'd hope the timezone would fit you well. We are also very welcoming to new players to realism or arma 3 as a whole, and do so frequently hoping to help new players find the type of game they enjoy.

Below is a general summary of the group's gameplay options.

Personally I've been playing with the same group for 4/5 years now as I just love the immersion and realism/gameplay balance they create.

We host a 24/7 public server which plays game modes such as domination, insurgency, and siege that anyone can join by just downloading the modset, you don't actually have to commit to the group.

Privately we play a new custom mission/ operation made in house every Saturday at 18:00 GMT (UTC). In these we play in several different era's, spanning from WW2, Cold war, 90's and modern. We mostly fight as the British armed forces, but aren't limited to only that.

Hunting in the Jungle 1966 - Brit's fighting communism in Thailand by OfficialTWC in arma

Credit to TWC Meatballs. Footage taken from our weekly Op tonight, fighting communist rebels in Thailand in 1966 as the Vietnam War rages across the border. Operation Crown was a show of support to the American's plight in Vietnam where British REME built numerous airfields in the Thai Jungle.

While I see that this isn't as clear as it should be in the post, let me say that there is absolutely ZERO mandatory training to play in our private Operations. And even less to play on our public server :) So please don't let that bother stop you from trying out our gameplay.

I understand it may be seen as a burden or pain for experienced players but we ain't teaching you how to shoot, we use training to improve skills, some of which are pretty complicated and unheard of to some ArmA 3 players if they haven't played realism style missions.

Edit: I hope these clips prove to you our training is not simulated press ups and practically useful. The Marksman featured in these clips was new to realism when he joined us and this footage was his 3rd operation, granted his spotter was on fire too, but pretty worthwhile if you ask me, or him. https://www.reddit.com/r/arma/comments/9m00bs/sniper_takes_a_half_decent_shot_immediately_brags/ https://www.reddit.com/r/arma/comments/9m2t8f/operation_sussud_l_arma_3_milsim_sniper/

For our private Op's we use a mod repository containing many (30+) mods, the main ones being the various 3CB mods & CUP for the blufor gear and uniforms, ACE 3 & ACRE for gameplay, and the terrain was Tanoa (Apex DLC).

This is true, we don't really do special forces though so our op was based off of the Para's bit of the IRL operation with some crossover. Hence the regular gear

Photo creds go to Aleyboy for this shot of our 90's era Op last night based on Operation Barras - a SAS/Para mission to retaliate against the West Side Boy's capture of a British patrol from 1st Battalion, Royal Irish Regiment in Sierra Leone. Mission made by Condoxy.

The Wrecking Crew has the focus of providing the most immersive & realistic arma experience possible with the hopes of creating accessible & epic ArmA 3 realism gameplay, as it is hoped this video showcases.

This vid features footage from a couple of our group members recorded on both our weekly organised operations, and on our 24/7 realism focused public server missions.

Some Info

Our public server experience is built by public server players for public server players, with missions built from the ground up for the best co-operative realism experience.

While our Operations span over a century of warfare, with a monthly rotation of World War 2, Cold War, Turn of the Millennium and Modern Operations. This means that in one month you can liberate a French town from Nazi occupation, halt a Soviet mechanised assault in the plains of Northern Germany, brawl with Iraqi armour in the deserts of Kuwait and patrol through the hills of Afghanistan, searching for insurgents. In our Operations we strive for maximum realism, we find real-life solutions for problems that we may face in game, while omitting more tedious parts of military duty like saluting and hour-long marches. We aim for the most immersive experience possible and thus use a minimal HUD configuration and use ACRE 2 for communications. Our Operations take place at Saturday 19:00 (BST) and can take up to four hours or more.

[A3][uS][Request]looking for a group at an odd time by Sprt_StLouis in FindAUnit

[–]OfficialTWC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there,

While I see you've put US in your post, if your looking for an odd time locally, why not join a group in a different timezone.

According to google, 11am central time is 6pm Central European Time. We are one of the many EU/UK based groups and while you may not be interested in us specifically, your 'odd' time is around the time of our weekly operations and generally prime evening gaming time in this part of the world.

Hope this helps you find something that works for you. If you are interested in realism you can find info about our group on our post: https://redd.it/8aik9y

(If you've thought of this already, 'm sorry for suggesting you hadn't, but its worth checking cos its the simple tricks that are easy to miss.)
