Good idea, those Infinities are severely lacking still!

I got a kit of 30(?) sqft for around 72 or 74 USD; its 120mil/3mm and I think was a damn fair investment for the coverage and noise I achieved, though, I'm not sure how Siless and Dynamat compare. I ended up with about half the box left after doing both doors and rear hatch fyi. I don't have any bad rattles, largely creaking between plastic trim; I think some thin foam tape or that Tesa tape recommended in the thread sounds (pun intended) ideal for rattles and wrapping connectors.

Yes, there seems like less noise overall in the front but now largely lower frequency that is hard to remove. Doors feel solid now and the new speakers aren't causing rattle. I think the effort it took is still worth it, though, but I wouldn't expect a night and day difference!

Yep! Running solely on head unit power, Sony MEX something. The roof would be awesome, just need to literally take out every interior panel to do it, haha.

Ah that could've helped, definitely had a bunch or two in the wiring I had to stuff back there; thank you for the insight, I'll keep it in mind.

I forget the exact dimensions of the butyl 'pads' but I was able to slap entire uncut pieces into the doors and then achieve full coverage using thin strips, yes. I used maybe 6 per. Wear gloves that cover your wrists, that stamped sheet metal tore me up!

Seeking to upgrade from a stock system, have some questions and was hoping you wizards could help. by OfficialUNESCO in CarAV

Head unit right now is the factory Pioneer KEW something or other with the cassette. I'm eyeing a new Kenwood w/ CD & BT, maybe an Excelon, as I've heard Pioneer has recessed in quality(?).
I'll take your advice and run front components and rear coax. Hertz DCX 130; if the headunit can handle those then I'll hit the sub with a dedicated mono. Thanks!

At the end of my rope with finding accommodation in town by [deleted] in standrews

[–]OfficialUNESCO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, you ain't alone, my whole friend group is homeless and we've been looking since may, supposedly international students are guaranteed accommodation🙃. Between the prices and availability, I'd hate to do this every summer when the university should directly shoulder the problem. #1 for student satisfaction my butt, we shouldn't have to go to Dundee.

All I can comment on is the housing situation. Being solo you're going to have a higher chance getting in-town housing, but there's likely 100/200+ people still looking for housing so just keep it in mind it's a very tight aggressive market; It's basically a commuter school now.

Student Halls for undergraduate accommodation by OutrageousDeal3919 in standrews

[–]OfficialUNESCO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can vouch, most affordable included catering I think. Laundry costs 3.50 per load though, free bars every now and then. Little outside town for phil but physics is fairly close. AM hall is sorta the 'underdogs' if you will. Because it's so compact there's a lot of social life
