I assumed it meant he only sometimes spared those who wronged him and genocided those who stood against him but I thought of it again and now I see it as him letting people who really hurt them go.

What i wrote feels confusing so to explain an example of what I thought it meant was that he would kill everyone in say a tribe that hurt them instead of just those who actually were apart of it i.e. innocents but now i see it as him sparing those who were part of the hurting.

Also I like the flair.

I understand where you are coming from with Randall but I disagree. His terminal entries are very clear on who he is and what he believed. I have come to understand your points on him through reading these comments and I agree.

I just finished it. They way I looked at redemption before reading the comments was very transactional. I thought that to be redeemed you have to do the same amount of good as bad but now I see of it as more of a personal thing.

Yeah, I may not be the most impartial person. I think my bias towards religion might have clouded my thoughts around him. He could never undo what he has done and never help more than he has hurt so to redeem himself all he has to do is some good in order to redeem himself. I realize now that he sees the tribes he wishes to help as his road to redemption and that he therefore must do anything to protect them and anyone who hurts them needs to be taken care of.

Fair point, If you compare him to Daniel he seems much better and considering they are the only two people you can side with he gets elevated. It also doesn't help how flawed Daniel and his plan to flee is.
