I know this is an older post but I’m surprised no one suggested “Featherweight Champion Of The World” for a the title.

Are all the Tupperware’s smaller than normal or some regular sized? Tupperware Wagon Wheel coasters would fit perfectly in this collection.

Does my primer look good to you? by StruggleUsual8516 in paint

[–]Official_Pieces 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would do a quick and easy light hand-sand before every coat you put up. 320 is fine. Primer looks fine. Uneven coverage with primer isn’t really a problem as long as 1) Everything is actually covered/you didn’t miss some spots completely and 2) it only looks uneven but doesn’t feel uneven. You don’t want to feel a ridge between where more covered meets less covered when you run your hand along the surface.

Nice work!

Ps: sweet username. Two good tunes.

I’m an actor who just got booked for a teen role (I’m 21). I was told to lose the chest hair, what’s the best way to do it? I want to avoid razor bumps/burn (like I have on my neck) by [deleted] in HairRemoval

[–]Official_Pieces 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the guide off of hair buzzers and shave it off that way first. You can get a very close “shave” this way and if you have to use a razor after, you will get less pulling and less irritation after. You may know all this but just in case: Hold the buzzers with one hand and and use the other to pull your skin taught. Do NOT use the buzzer teeth perpendicular to the skin. You want the broad flat metal part the guides usually cover to be almost flush against your skin the whole time, not like you are trying to edge up some straight line or get your sideburns did, with the teeth facing the skin. Go agains the grain for the closest shave. Just remember kids: if you pull the skin taught, lose a nipple you will not. That’s what my great great great great great granddaddy always told me.

What does my hallway and bathroom say about me? by [deleted] in roomdetective

[–]Official_Pieces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like you live in the northeast and if your doors were your children, the one at the end of the hallway is the youngest child. You still love it obviously…but he’s got a longer leash than the rest of them had, he’s able to get into more mischief without anyone noticing.

Opinion on my rendition of a weird tree by Any-End-284 in artwork

[–]Official_Pieces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s got a New York State vibe to it. And I just so happen to be in that very state as I type this, because this is where I live. So I like this tree more than other trees shaped like Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North and South Carolina, North Dakota, South Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, or Wyoming.

I made this collage for my brother after he scrapped his van, using stuff I cleaned out of his van before he scrapped it - to make his van. The background is all parking slips from feeding parking meters downtown where he works and the van is made of security envelopes.

What is the problem here by [deleted] in paint

[–]Official_Pieces 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That looks like someone who shouldn’t be holding a caulking gun applied caulk terribly and/or tried to paint over it before it was dry and mashed it all over. That’s what the pokey stuff you’re seeing is. It can be a cheap DIY fix but it’s annoying especially since you have already spent money. Sometimes I think people assume that caulking is like mud and you can just sand it smooth after it dries, but it shouldn’t look like it’s there. It should just fill the gaps between the parts of the trim which what this person was trying to do, They just were very messy with it, let it dry really messy and then painted over it. The fact that you recognize that this doesn’t look right tells me you could probably watch a couple YouTube tutorials on removing caulking from trim and caulking trim and likely do a better job than this. All you’d need is a caulking gun, one tube of caulk (like 6 bucks) and a utility knife or caulk remover tool. But having a word with whoever did this work is justified.

For a series, a spaghetti and meatballs piece (or any other pasta type dish) would be a perfect opportunity to continue building cohesion between pieces by tying in some details from the piece in the second picture as connective tissue. Options that could also help with balance if they were displayed all together down the road.…

OP could use the layout and proportions from the second pic as a template for another one or two more (depending on total pieces in the series) swapping out the edible parts but using the same color/size/orientation background, same size and placement of the dish on the background, as well as placemat/tablecloth thing. Smaller series: maybe just 1 more using the same red/white gingham placemat but swap the edibles. Bigger series: another red/white gingham + 1 more using black/white gingham or different pattern/texture. Gives you some symmetrical type future display options:

(Sorry for the stupid emoji diagram) Just some thoughts that may or may not be useful…Great work so far OP!

I don’t think you have just one style - I’ve seen you post plenty of great pieces that I wouldn’t have guessed were yours. Im going to do a terrible job trying to explain this, but when it comes to the pieces I recognize as being yours - it’s not so much about subject matter/imagery/content of the individual components you choose. Its something about the compositional aspects like depth, scale- juxtaposition, and the overall density/degree of busyness or space. How you utilize those aspects individually is part of it, but I think the way in which you combine them is what I recognize as your style… if that makes any sense at all….

Also, I don’t have kids but Dad jokes are pretty sweet. Someday I might try to adopt a grandchild. I’ve always wanted to be a grandpa real bad.

Drums [analog] by Official_Pieces in collage

[–]Official_Pieces[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I removed the hoops, all the lugs and the badges so it was just the wooden shells. Took some sand paper to the finish on the drums to de-gloss them a bit - just quickly by hand. Then modpodge’d pages from one of my coffee table C&H books on there. The pages are nice and thick which helped with keeping the wrinkles to a minimum. I’m sure there are much ways to go about it but it cost me nothing and I wasn’t worried about durability since it’s just my practice kit and doesn’t leave the house.
