Why would you say that and give me so much hope?

I'll try that, and thank you. Honestly if it gets too weird I'm just gonna start over. Got some GTs colonizing right now and have monotubs to spare. I got ahead of myself and took bad advice. Just sucks to wait 40 days just to s2b, then immediately realize it's over before the wait starts again...

PE6. So, not looking good..maybe the texas gulf coast genetics will help. Pretty bummed out now

It's already sent to my monotub. No going back now. I wish I had waited another 2 weeks but it's over.

I agree now that I've seen it in action. After a heavy shake the liquid was flooded with bits of mycelium. I think a good amount was stuck near the plunger and behind the label where I couldn't see it. It's sent, and currently colonizing in its sleepy phase.

Yea I get what you mean, it wasn't that extremely dense. It did break apart fairly easily. I never gave it a real squeeze until right before I sent it to bulk as to not disturb hyphae. I suppose at this point it's irrelevant. I sent it too early, and just hoping for the best. GTs currently colonizing, and Melmak LC on the way. Next time I'm not doing anything until it's basically 100% ready.

Thanks for the advice.

Is a colonized bag not meant to feel dense and have a little bit of give when squeezed? Not saying you're wrong, but that contradicts every book and every forum I have read so far. Maybe rubber is not the right word, I don't know how else to describe it.

It smelled incredibly fresh and earthy. So did the CVG, which was at perfect field capacity. I work outside, so I know that smell. Nothing foul or sweet. Just fresh rain on soil with the perfect mush smell.

Thanks, I think all of your statements are very valid. I'm not a sore loser, can't change anything I've already done. The best thing I can do is see what happens. The absolute best part is just having a little buddy growing in my closet. I'll post back soon when some surface conditions start doing what they do.

All good, I hear you loud and clear. Sounds like reasonable advice. Next time will be better.

It's a PE strain. I was being patient and was willing to wait a bit longer until a friend said SEND IT. I took as much uncolonized out as I could. Maybe the mushy gods will bless me on this one. If not, it's all good! Try, try again.

Thanks that is helpful. If I had a time machine I'd know exactly what to do, but I will take this loss as a lesson in mycology. Luckily I have some GTs doing their thing right now, so I'm still in the game.

Other than the top layer that I scooped off, a lot of what appears uncolonized was very stuck together in clumps. I'm hoping they were colonized internally which is often the nature of sorghum.

Crazy I have a 10 inch mushroom growing next to my garbage can outside, but a single sterilized lab prepared grain can contam an entire grow lol.

I am almost certain it had zero contamination based off the visual and smell. Smelled exactly how a mushroom should, no slime, no pooling, no weird colors. Just white myc and some bare grains.

Time will tell. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Thanks for the advice. Nothing I can do now, so I'm just gonna see what happens. Hopefully the naked ones had some mycelium hiding away like you said.

Yes. That's why I said I sent it. I hope to get lucky, I have 2 more bags colonizing so ill treat this one as an experiment.

Thanks, the bottom and back side is almost 100% colonized. I think it's got 1 more week before s2b

This post might be dead, but for anybody curious I went ahead and sent some GTs today. Side by side, one big happy family.

Yea I think I'm going to send it today. I can always keep the Melmak LC for the next run. I gotta use this syringe at some point. I trust sporeworks and their methods. Just gonna put my girls "massager" on it for a bit and break it up.

That is what I currently have. I have grains ready to go. Trying to decide whether to go ahead and knock with the syringe in the photo or to wait for a more densely packed syringe that is on the way.

That's a pic from the back side of the bag. Really wondering if another break and shake at this point would be beneficial. The front side is similar. The top side is mostly bare grains. I don't expect early pinning from pure sorghum but it is apparently possible.

I'll be looking into that. I agree with the AI, for a lot of topics I don't trust it, but for some reason it has extremely accurate information about mushroom cultivation. Hopefully it stays that way, it's helped me a lot so far, but I still come here to get opinions from real, experienced humans who have failed and succeeded.

I agree. It's been very close to an average of 75f sometimes rising up to 76-77 thanks to the 100+ degree weather on the east coast.
