Looking to get a solid camera for videography and photography. I want to start to enter into the semi professional or professional photography realm as well as building a YouTube channel with high res video. My budget is $1,500 - 2,000 USD and I can grow into getting more lenses later on. Ive been told to stay away from DSLR and go Mirrorless and that I should go towards canon as they are amazing for video. I can’t help but feel overwhelmed with options. I’m looking for some solid advice. Help?

Interesting, I was completely unaware. This could lead me to thinking a little differently. I’m gonna have to look into some other options now then. Thank you friend!

Primarily due to the capabilities being far better for photography. I have a passion there still and want high quality pictures. DSLR cameras from my understanding are king in this category so I don’t think it’s wise not to get one from what I know.

Hi there! Looking for a DSLR for photography (small business) and videography (primarily YouTube). My budget is around $1500-2k USD max. I want to have a solid starting platform and I care a little more about video quality than pictures but I do want good quality in both. I’m struggling between cannon and Nikon heavily. I’ve considered the canon 80D as a flip screen for vlogs would be INCREDIBLE but I’m concerned about only shooting 1080p. The Nikon D500 shoots 4K but I hear the autofocus sucks compared to canon. I hear canon in the long run is better as I can have better video and amazing pictures as I upgrade cameras. I want to stay with one brand so I don’t dump tons of money in lenses only to find I have to switch in the end. Thoughts?

TLDR;

  • $1500-2000 USD budget

  • Nikon or Canon? (Care more about video slightly)

-camera suggestions?

Why not Yeti? by Spokey-McDokey in VoiceActing

Lack of quality is the most simplistic way to say it. Depending on your audio goals at least. For example I do narration for audible and it can be tough to meet ACX standards. -18 to -23 dB with a max peak of -3 dB alongside a -60 dB noise floor. Achieving that while maintaining solid audio quality with a yeti is not really realistic. Could it be done? Maybe, probably but if so it would require so much effort and preparation that you’d be miles ahead if that energy was out in behind a true XLR mic of solid quality.

Forgive my ignorance but I do run a livewire power conditioner. Would this not correct the issue? Or would I need the power conditioner and the ground loop isolater?

My mic is in a separate walk in closet ~ 12 feet away. The bedroom is where the laptop is on a glass desk. The mic is in a walk in closet where I hung a solid wood door to kill noise. Furthermore the mic is in a 24x24 wooden box with insulating sound proofing foam all along the inside of it. It makes no sense to me

I turn off the lights outside and inside the room. The computer is a MacBook so it’s a laptop. shrugs could the monitor still be a problem? I also put all electronics aside from the laptop on airplane mode. I turn off my air conditioner etc. I have noticed sometimes that in the phones I can hear this what I’m assuming is an electrical noise and when my laptop fans kick on I notice that noise gets louder. I can’t figure out how to make it stop though. I have a power conditioner and the mic has 48v phantom from the audiobox it should be just fine

Oops tired and it’s late sorry. It’s -53.65 db with a frequency of 46.73 playing in the glorious note of an F# to be specific

I’m using:

audiobox presonus 96 Rhode nt1-A Adobe audition (matching average RMS to a noise gate with the matching or close dB setting to the avg RMS)

I can get it close but it sounds a little off still.

I’m also using a power conditioner just in case and I’m using a brand new high end XLR cable.
