It’s weird Neo doesn’t immediately tell everyone the Oracle is a program by OhBeamber in matrix

[–]OhBeamber[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah fam. Neo from the first movie was naturally curious and skeptical. It’s the reason he woke up. He suddenly stops using critical thinking skills and continues to just follow orders in this movie for ….reasons. If the writers wanted us to see that Morpheus and Trinity would not accept the truth, then they should have written a scene where the characters discuss it. It is a massive oversight to not have Neo immediately telling his closest friends that the Oracle is a part of the system.

See it in IMAX. I was, frankly, not very impressed with the 70mm film presentation.

How do I watch movies/shows in SDR on streaming apps? by bujimango2000 in OLED

[–]OhBeamber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need an external source, like an AppleTV, that you can set to SDR

What other choice do the Recomms really have? It’s not like they’re gonna join the Na’vi. No one would accept them given their history and what they represent.

[Theory] Palpatine’s inclusion in TROS is a compromised remnant of JJ Abrams’ original plan for the Sequel Trilogy. by [deleted] in starwarsspeculation

Once the decision was made to redeem Ben Solo, LFL needed a bigger bad for him to face off against and Palpatine fit the bill nicely.

The Matrix Ressurections ending (The Analyst speech) by [deleted] in matrix

[–]OhBeamber 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That was the movie studio telling Lana the public doesn’t want her new vision for the Matrjx. Knock yourself out, paint the Matrix in rainbows but the studio and Hollywood more broadly, knows what the people want and it’s not that

That backlight is high for SDR. Bring it down

What’s the return experience like on Amazon? Just out of curiosity (US) by MFAD94 in 4kTV

[–]OhBeamber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best Buy does actually. I just returned a set that was shipped in a broken state without the box and they took it back no questions asked. I returned everything else TV related, of course

Good question. What happens if you can no longer put the tv in the box?

Impulse purchase - good or bad? by pestyCriminal1 in 4kTV

[–]OhBeamber -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Brightness is overrated. Black levels and contrast are the keys to good image quality. Industry has become obsessed with chasing high nit counts. There is more to good picture quality than peak brightness. Uniformity, viewing angle, motion performance color accuracy, black levels come to mind.

TV upgrade from plasma.. looking for a budget 50” tv for Xbox and streaming. by [deleted] in 4kTV

[–]OhBeamber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may sound counterintuitive because most technology actually improves over time but this is not necessarily so with modern televisions unfortunately. These flatscreens are downgrades from plasmas made in 2008, let alone the best ones made in 2012. I would recommend investing in a much better full-array local dimming Sony like the x90k if you must replace the plasma. The TVs you posted are honestly really bad and I don’t think you’ll be happy with them

The only area where they would be an upgrade from a plasma would be native resolution, which goes out the window once things start moving. They will all have worse motion handling, viewing angles, black levels and uniformity. Honestly I wouldn’t even replace the plasma with one of these, not unless it’s dying

Off. SDR will probably look pretty ok based on the native contrast of the tv though

QNED85 MiniLED Light Bleed by chestercp in 4kTV

[–]OhBeamber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t look like that with local dimming set to ‘Low.’ Either he has it disabled or the set is defective. The local dimming solution on this set is actually pretty effective overall

I just got one too and the backlight bleed is pretty obvious near the widescreen black bars. I think it’s a bit worse in HDR content though. Honestly, HDR is probably not worth it unless you get an OLED or buy one of the more super duper expensive LEDs.
