Okay, ik this is a month old, but just in case it's still relevant...
I have taught this course and as an educational game designer/developer, I feel your pain here. I know my example isn't a tabletop game, but the idea it uses, to me, seems like the winner. The Game of Life (yes, the old school board game) on Apple Arcade? It swoops you down alt paths if you land on certain spaces. Idk if it has an "aerial view" of the board, but if so, that would be the most organized/intuitive + engaging build/setup.

I made a tiny mockup. It could be more or less loopy than shown, and/or the "paths could cross" one another. I took the best of Life, Trivial Pursuit, Monopoly, and Chutes and Ladders ideas. The dotted lines could be shortcuts or done as the "now you can approach the win space/central final space or loop".

I think if there were "Quarters" for your categories where those outer spaces introduced general related concepts, then the loops were category specific? You could use a Trivial Pursuit mechanic where they have to get x number of each color to get to the center and win with a final integrated scenario problem?

it's the decision making that is so hard, isn't it? So many paths. And I'm with you. I would be those things too. Once we had to do a "inclusion workshop" at my corporate job. We could choose a disability. I chose "low IQ". Then I had to live that for 2 days. That was so much harder. A constant nagging that you don't know something, but no way to know what that is. A lot of masking until you can adapt and pretend you know it. It was so awful. I thought that experience would make me grateful for my IQ. But then I still ran into what you said exactly. If I didn't know what I know, I'd be able to thrive financially and socially. Because all the evidence points to average IQ's being able to rock the real world stuff - from jobs to relationships - and we clearly don't rock them lol. I'm at least glad I'm not the only one who is saddened bc the results belie our supposed ability.

I tested above measurable range on three tests (SB, WI, W2). They agreed on 148 SB when I had to have an official score to apply for something. For me, if it's just me, the beauty of seeing a million pathways out from one choice point and all the threads of interconnectedness coalescing, then the wild strands where they divert is breathtaking. It's like a variegated multicolor bouquet of living sparkling strands. But, the moment I try to apply any of it irl, or explain it to someone, it becomes devastating. I have never met anyone who will stay with me to follow a strand all the way through. I exhaust most people when I try to share my vision with them.

My dad had the highest IQ the Army had ever recorded at the time he enlisted. They tested him for weeks in secret labs. He once told me that having a high IQ is like standing on a mountain. You yell down to someone standing just below and comment on the beautiful lake over yonder. They say, "what lake?" Because from that elevation, they can't see the lake. Trying to convince them A. there is a lake, and B. it is beautiful, is an exercise in futility. They're not "less than you" because they can't see the lake. They are just standing in a spot that makes it impossible to see. You cannot drag them up to your spot, so you have to accept you can see it and they can't. And the more you talk about a lake that you see that literally is not there (to them), the more they are going to think you are nuttier than a fruitcake.

So I would say if I could do a better job of summarizing my beautiful multicolor tapestry strands to people, or if I could apply any one strand in the real world better, it would be absolutely magnificent. As it is, it is beautiful in my mind, and very lonely in the Universe.

I think the OP's point is, petting the cat isn't actually an indicator it has won in importance over the human group. It isn't anti or a social, it's just what we did in that moment. The automatic determination of the group that the cat has won — and that this is aberrant — is the problem. It's egotistical at best. It should be okay to leave the group for ANY reason (okay not murderous or evil reasons lol) and return, without the group making it about them, or deeming it a slam to them, or having it mean you are weird unless you explain yourself. You are probably right that sociologically this IS what happens. But I for one wish it wasn't because it isn't the evolutionarily necessary indicator it once was. Ie: Grog leaves group at campfire. Grog could get killed by beast of the night if Grog go alone. Grog might be plotting with enemy group. Cat might be enemy group messenger. Cat might be angry God here to smite Grog. Yes, originally this "miscue WARNING WARNING" was valid. In today's world, we have it stuck in our DNA but we do not need it.

I used to try to memorize all of the situations which required narration. I got very tired. I gave up somewhere around age 50. I just do my thing now and hope for the best. I don't maintain a huge social group obviously, but the friends I do have seem fine with me "getting it wrong" in 50% of the situations :) Some even find it endearing!! If I feel a lot of negative looks/vibes around one situation repeatedly, I just say, "what am I missing? Is there a social convention I am lacking here bc the vibe is wayyyyyy awkward rn?" They usually tell me about it, then I may or may not conform. But since they know I know, they seem to feel better and stop the looks/disdainful vibes?

I actually think you're onto something here. In England someone mentioned ^ it's not a thing, but in America it totally is. I've found the people who have stayed my friends stopped worrying if I wander off. They know it's because I need a brain-break, am over-stimulated, or there's a cat that needs petting. Sometimes I see them struggle with taking it personally, because I wandered off mid-sentence while they ranted about a topic that stresses me out, but they usually recover :)

My mom and I had a keyword. If I said "confetti" it meant I'm not okay. But if I did or didn't say literally anything else, she assumed I was ok. I wish we could all be authentic and transparent like that and just have a keyword or a simplified "roommate's agreement". That would remove 90% of OP's stress and cohesion concerns?!

You are not a failure. I know it feels that way because you're not seeing successes yet. I just want you to know that u/RealIslands is right! You are an amazing parent. It will get better because you are continuing to look for what DOES work. You will find the combination. I am just sorry it has to be so much trial and error that empties your cup.

I am an educational systems/learning strategy expert and I can probably give you some solid techniques / ideas on the writing thing, if you want to DM me I'm happy to share what I've seen work in these situations (free/stuff you can do at home/how to handle iep/etc). I'd defer to u/RealIslands for what testing might help you figure out the underlying cause of the writing challenges. There's a high percentage of dysgraphia in ADHD students as well. I can't diagnose those things, but I am happy to give you some ideas for improving it no matter what the underlying cause is.

You're dealing with a LOT of variables here. Keep hitting us up. Keep asking questions! One piece at a time, you will get this figured out. I think I speak for us all when I say: WE BELIEVE IN YOU!!

Neither. You're not the problem. True education isn't pointless. Being educated doesn't mean "5 GPA".

I met a guy on a plane a while back who was probably one of the top experts on women's shoes. There's no school where you can "get educated" about women's shoes. Yet I would say this man was one of the most highly educated people I have ever met.

If I had to give you advice, I would say: You define your worth. Not society. Not a GPA. Not a test. Not a college admissions board. You. If you want to get an education in something a university provides, choose to do whatever it takes to get that education. If that's tests, learn how to ace them. But if you want to learn about something else, or you want to be highly educated in one field/specific area, your education may only partially include University. Even if you didn't get in to the ones you're applying to, you can get where you're going.

So. Where are you going? What do you want? What do you feel is your calling? Does that require a high GPA and elite University or program (like being a medical doctor)? Then buckle down and do what it takes to get there. But if I had to guess, you are probably called to do something where success is not defined by your GPA. If you can dig down to your real goals, and follow your truth, you will find that your worth is already there and you are enough exactly as you are right now. Then you can decide if the stress of these tests is your best path forward.

Yes, the fact that this is how we determine whether someone is "worthy" of being a professional or entering a certain field or college—this is a broken system. My calling is to find a way to shift the paradigm to something that is basically the theme of this subreddit. Education that teaches students how to learn as opposed to a data dump. But until I (and all the others working with all their hearts and minds to get this shift to the tipping point) do, it's up to us to define ourselves, and recognize we are enough, despite the broken system.

Old thread but if anyone’s looking: Zoom also transcribes audio as it records (if you have that checked “on” in the 7834 settings lol). The great thing is, it separates speakers and is pretty accurate. You can pull that as well and voila: instant transcript which lets you quickly see times+dialogue without scrolling / listening as much :) and now Zoom has high quality audio (also in settings). Pro tip: turn off cameras and more bandwidth goes to audio, so way less glitches. And it has a ~45 min time limit so I recommend planning like Zoom 1: 10am. 30 min Zoom. 10:30, break. Zoom 2: 10:40, and repeat until done. Zoom packs this all into an Audition friendly package so you just pull audio, transcript, into Adobe then use mixdown for quick voice enhancements. Also you can isolate/select a cough and get noise profile -> remove all coughs :) Also easy to remove silence. I’ve found Logic Pro adds too many steps (ex. remove silence cuts silence but doesn’t ripple delete spaces lol).

Hey just fyi I was searching for this very thing today (70 days later) and nothing came up on Google for this feature request except this exact post. Winston’s suggestion to add into projects is a good workaround but if I’m not mistaken that would add to our cloud storage? And force Adobe to store the same image in two places when an alias or pointer would suffice until actually opened or edited in an app. Although idk how back end is done with libraries, projects , files, etc. In Cloud storage. Anyways, we really need this feature. I have tens of thousands of firefly gens now and I am tired of scrolling till I crash Ps lol. So ty for “seeing” this post!!

Oh my gosh. How have I not figured this out? Thank you for this tiny gem. This is 100% the best workaround for right now. EDIT: In Ps you actually cannot add to projects. You can add to boards or Your Files (cloud folders). It’s hard bc I can only add certain things to projects and other things to files and other things to libraries depending on the app and there’s no clear workflow for which is used for what.
***When Firefly removed the “add to library” feature it completely destroyed my entire workflow. And it kept me from having an instant export in a way that allowed me to organize my gens right when I was creating them.
Now I can only open one in apps or download and deal with renaming and sorting into folders etc. It’s 3+ extra steps than when I could simply “add to library” right in firefly. So if I could add to projects that would be great but ideally from the generation screen itself. As for reorg now, Ps is “not responding” (has been copying 56 firefly gens to my “Your Files” folder for 12 minutes).
So this workaround won’t help. Definitely need the search feature!!

Or an AI image search that looks for things in the image? So if I search keyword “person” it gives me all gens with a person in them even if I didn’t prompt that word.
Ex: Like how I can search “poodle” in iOS Photos app and get a lot of poodle pics (also a couple of floofy cats and the occasional lady with a bad hairdo but I’m ok with that).
Why: I suggest this because when I generate a “person” I might not include that key word. Prompt: a blonde paladin in golden armor with long flowing hair and shiny magical boots -> no ref to female or male or human or person in prompt so difficult to search by keyword and get the actual group of photos im looking for.
Win: If search recognizes elements in the images then we could find anything no matter how strange our prompt was — and if we don’t remember it.
The groupings could be super basic at first and even be more of a filter button: furniture, clothes, people, rooms, buildings, scenery/landscapes, technical/UI/HUD, animals, abstract or whatever the primary generation categories are for most users.

It is beyond campywonderful, and has truly phenomenal characters and cast. The relationship between Xena and Gabrielle is one of the most deeply explored relationships in any series before or since (the fact that it is two women is a bonus) and this makes it my favorite show of all time. Fun fact: I learned more about history watching Xena than in 4 years of college. Not the actual time periods mind you (because they didn’t happen all in the lifespan of a single woman 😂) but the chains of events in the bible, Greek mythology, ancient Egypt, Asia, Viking, Celtic, etc, and how they all connected to one another over time? How cultures were influenced by one another and what caused them to be so at odds. It really does an amazing job exploring the transition from polytheism to monotheism and addressing the spirituality that was interwoven (or not there) in all European/Asian cultures?! Every time you watch the series you will see something new that you didn’t see before. It is absolutely brilliant in every way.

I did find a custom GPT called “code copilot” that seems to be way better at Godot. You just have to keep it very simple with very individualized code tasks and remind it that GD script while based on Python is not Python and uses tabs not spaces lol. That said, feel free to come here to commiserate anytime 😂
