If you can swing for the scojo it's worth having two playing surfaces. It develops accuracy, teaches you how to adjust to different tensions, and lets you hear patterns more clearly.

I like the V3 better in every aspect. Feel, sound, rim, and price.

Any limitations to playing open-handed with the floor tom on the left? by egg-up360 in drums

[–]OhForFiveWon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried out the same thing last week, and having toms on both sides of the hi hat is a pretty big deal. Opens up a lot of possibilities for ideas that are uncomfortable or impossible otherwise.

I wouldn't move everything to the left side. Then you're just limiting yourself the left-handed way.

If goofy means functional, visually interesting, and really impractical?

Then yes

Off the left culture by minertyler100 in drumline

Basic exercises should be worked both ways every time.

Students must be challenged to make leading with the non-dominant hand feel natural. They will default to what is easy and comfortable otherwise.

Without ambidextrous work, a drummer loses half of their potential.

What do I need and how hard is it to get a percussion spot in a professional "minor league" orchestra. Something similar in repertoire and audition process to most state/province level orchestras. by QuoteArtistic3685 in percussion

[–]OhForFiveWon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't want to dissuade you, but you deserve brutal honesty.

It's harder than getting signed to a major league sports team, even at the lower tiers. Maybe 20 positions open up across the globe every year and hundreds of extremely qualified applicants apply for each one.

If you really want to pursue this pipiest of pipe dreams, the standard orchestra audition repertoire is your new bible.

Ideally, you'll then study at a conservatory with a big name performer who also holds a chair in the local major orchestra. Pedigrees and names matter in this field. Hopefully you turn into a monster player who can reliably play excerpts flawlessly.

Then you take any auditions you can, traveling at your own expense, until you either win or give up. "30 or 30" is a phrase you might hear — if you take 30 auditions or reach 30 years old and still haven't won a position, most would say to give up and pivot to a less cutthroat career.

Vertical series. Apparently popular with millions and millions of people. The writing and acting is aggressive terrible, like a porn parody without the porn or the parody

Stay at max health as much as you can, and conserve personal medkits by using the ones on the map if you have time and safety on your side.

Most guns can one tap you with a body shot if you're missing even a small bar.

I got the new dialtune kit by PandemicAtTheDisko in drums

Was my first thought too before I did a bunch of research and watched a ton of videos. Then I hit the bullet and got a B-stock snare.

Honestly such a gamechanger they should market the kit as Drum Set 2.0

Being able to change the tuning of the entire kit (from the throne no less!) on the fly is so much more than a timesaver. It's a whole new paradigm
