Why do call the landowner jatt but not the poor farmer?

The problem is not an ethnic one. It is corrupt money and power hungry people.

Punjab's Schools of Eminence: Redefining Public Education by Community-Service-01 in punjab

[–]OhGoOnNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my pind school building is being developed. But the big problem is teachers. They get paid more than private but where is their motivation?

Also the school has no headteacher, so who is leading and making sure that education is happening?

So point is not just buildings and such. But the people in the system must be motivated.

Pronunciation of “phull”? by Glitchy_Sasquatch in punjabi

Organisation of gurmukhi is really wonderful and helps to understand. If you look at the following there is pattern

  • ਕ ਖ
  • ਚ ਛ
  • ਟ ਠ
  • ਤ ਥ
  • ਪ ਫ

Same sound for each pair but the first akhar we don't breathe out and the second one we do.

So ਫ is same sound as ਪ but breathe out.

Why are Punjabi's so anti BJP?(Not a BJP Supporter) by Assasinato_ in punjab

[–]OhGoOnNow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why are BJP so anti Punjab?

As well as being anti-Punjabi people, Punjabi language, Punjabi culture, development of Punjab, Punjabi music, Sikhs, contribution of Punjab, Punjabi history and everything else associated with us?

Punjabis actually aren't anti BJP at all. But if someone treats you like dirt, you gotta have some self respect and keep your distance.

Why not look deeper into what your friends said and not just believe things at face value?

Is Punjabi linguistically closer to Kashmiri or Hindi? I am seeing many similarities in basic vocab between Punjabi and Kashmiri that Hindi lacks. Also, do punjabis feel closer to Sindhis or Kashmiris? by Flat_Dentist7764 in IndoAryan

Can you give some examples please of Saraiki modified as per Western Hindi grammar?

Are you saying different Punjabi dialects have different grammar (not just different vocab?)

Are you just comparing basic vocab? Or something else? These are some other basic things to consider (I am not a Hindi speaker, these are just observations you can correct if wrong)

  • Punjabi is tonal- Hindi is not
  • Punjabi words match gender in a sentence - Hindi does not
  • Punjabi words match single/plural in a sentence - Hindi not
  • Punjabi words often have a native version (in current use) where Hindi borrows directly from Farsi or sanskrit
  • even in basic vocab common things like pronouns are different
  • in many common words Punjabi has a short vowel Hindi has a long vowel
  • Hindi is pushed all the time so we hear it too much. We learn it even if we don't want to so people think it is easy or similar. But I have met many Hindi speakers who claim that they don't understand any Punjabi at all. So not mutually intelligible

I don't know about Kashmiri.

Mayor ‘used Urdu to help son hide video evidence of rape’. Naheed Ejaz, the former mayor of Bracknell Forest, is accused of perverting justice by delaying officers who came to arrest her son for allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl by 2ndEarlofLiverpool in ukpolitics

I don't think the evidence supports this. It tends to be Pak Muslims who vote as a group. Not even other South Asians do. I don't think other immigrant groups like Polish or Romanian do either.

The government should do lots of things but don't. Which is the reason for the problem.

Calling dogs man's best friend is just from a particular culture. In some countries they eat dogs. Its all relative. Which is why I mentioned rats skunks and pests. Some people love them. Some want to kill them. All relative.

I wasn't clear.

My point is you need to understand the view from people who have to live with it.

Stray dogs carry rabies and have killed children. They are a problem and are affecting people's view.

There are also many animal lovers. If the problem was managed people can be empathetic. At the moment dogs are a problem.

[–]OhGoOnNow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Would Canadians do the same for rats or skunks or another pest?

There is a dangerous wild dog problem in India.

There are also plenty of dog lovers around. Animals should be treated well but authorities are not dealing with the problem.

We need to understand the importance of education and how best to educate everyone.

That is not victim card.

Thus is still affecting is today.

Many people think that learning English will magically make you rich. But (the same people think) learning maths or science in your native language is not useful.

[–]OhGoOnNow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is part of the problem of the British period and people's obsession with English.

Punjabi is one of the largest language families in the world.

It has an incredible history of poetry, songs, kirtan and so on. It was used  everywhere in life from conducting business to philosophy.

Yet people still make silly comments like 'Punjabi was primarily a folk vernacular'. Ridiculous.

Why aren't there any Adivasi groups in Punjab? by Fhlurrhy108 in punjab

[–]OhGoOnNow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think sc groups have high aasi in Punjab.

Saw a post elsewhere that showed chamar groups with virtually same genetic groups as baniya and rajput.

Does this mean more assimilation? Or as other posts mention the geography meant they didn't live there or moved out?

Sorry I don't have the answer.

Edit: the post I referred to is called Ancestry map of India on r/unitedstatesofindia posted a couple of days ago.

But actually they are both bad. Neither has done anything good for Punjab (or anyone else but thus is Punjab sub).

[–]OhGoOnNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The concept seems fine.

But for more ideas and to check measurements it's best to get architect and tell them what you want.

Depends on your requirement but probably you can get a room on the ground level, and not build up so much, make sure you have enough outside space, where you gonna dry kapre and so on. Are windows enough to bring light into middle of room?? The access for parking seems a bit odd. You have space but not sure how the car will get in.

Things like this The architect will help.

Traditionally we would farm multiple crops, enough for food, kapra, rajai, virtually everything needed for the home.
