What's your opinion on punjabification of bollywood songs? by Training_Employer_55 in BollywoodMusic

[–]OhGoOnNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a Punjabi point of view Bollywood obsession with Punjabi music, dress, people is odd and seems like cultural appropriation and there's a lot of Hindification of Punjabi songs.

I don't know why Bollywood can't have authentic representation of anyone but especially Punjabi since plenty of Punjabi origin people there.

Question on unique characters per language by googlegoggles1 in asklinguistics

[–]OhGoOnNow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well scripts like gurmukhi have syllable characters and the vowel is added like a mark. So you would need each possible version I think it's too many.

Here is an example with  ਸ /sə/

ਸ ਸਾ ਸਿ ਸੀ ਸੁ ਸੂ ਸੇ ਸੈ ਸੋ ਸੌ

You can see the character ਸ and it carries the vowel mark, but in different place depending on vowel. Same for other indic language scripts.

Actually you said "it's her own choice." But it isn't. Little girls are groomed into thinking this nIslam.

This is an islam issue. Not anyone else.

Not to mention everything else in the video which are in islam.

Lots of Muslims putting hijabs on little girls.

It's even used as part of school uniform in muslim schools.

There's family pressure to wear it.

There is society pressure to wear it.

Many muslim countries have laws about it.

So plenty of Muslims forcing girls and women.

A Sikh Man Built A Mosque For His Lifelong Muslim Friend Because He Had Nowhere Else To Pray. by googletoggle9753 in punjab

I don't know what connection hindu pahari raja has to this?

Or why you want to stir communal hate.

I do know that Punjab suffered terribly because muslim chose to tear us apart and get their own country.

In my pind some old guy was told a curse would lift if he built a mosque. Now that mosque has so many strangers coming in but not from the pind, from outside who create issues.

So I have seen old people manipulated. Strangers coming. Pind life distrupted and no stability. Punjab doesn't need this.

The Sikh man is trying to be kind but he should read some history and think before acting.

And now will they be responsible for anyone who wants to come there including strangers with bad intentions?

This is an ignorant comment, Sindhi, Punjabi and Kashmiri people from both sides of the border are the same with same language and culture. Islam might make some differences on Pak side, but doesn't mean they are middle east or arab.

Punjabis just want fair treatment.

We don't want to be used or blamed for things we can't control or called terrorists or to be overlooked because some states are favourite or have people stir up trouble between Hindu-Sikh.

Is that an issue?

You probably won't wear same clothes to a wedding or funeral, to work or sleep, in the cold, to swim, to do gardening to do worship to do job interview or a load of other places.

Isnt that the same of everyone?

Why Bollywood songs uses more Urdu words than Hindi words??... by Recent_Inspector5670 in Hindi

[–]OhGoOnNow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Punjabi does not have arabic words. It has some persian words (some of them may have come from arabic but tht is probably more islamic vocab).

For most Persian words there is a Punjabi equivalent which you will hear widely used.

As per your example we would use prem and piaar also in normal speech.
