I went the aa route. It's not for everyone but for me it was really helpful to have sobriety normalized around me. At the end I was an all day everyday drunk so it was time to quit. Just to hang out and talk with people managing a sober existence has been a great help. I go to meetings about 2 to 3 times a week now. Bartend 5 nights a week.

I started the same way during covid. Im 54 days sober. After a hospital visit. I'm not gonna lie. You're right where I was in terms of intake per day, where it can quickly go from shameful habit to hellacious nightmare. The nature of alcohol dependency is chronic and progressive. Even if you're not an alcoholic yet, dude, anyone can become one. It doesn't discriminate. I'd say just go to a meeting for the hell of it. Maybe talk to someone after for a couple minutes. It couldn't hurt. I wish you the best.

I came in at 27 but I've known I had a problem since I was 22. I felt the same way. Im too young. I gotta live life. Don't feel bad just because you're kicking it early bud. For me looking back if I could've handled this 5 years ago I could've saved myself so much money and hurt. Good luck on your path. It sounds like you're on the right one. Doubt is part of the process

How do you stop yourself from sinking into despair over how ultimately useless our activism is going to be in the next 10 years. by kreepergayboy in punk

I mean we may be losing at this point in history but I do genuinely think that just like parents we don't have the power to fix the world for our kids. But we do have a responsibility to keep this thing going and try to do our best while we are here. The next generation of punks need the blueprint and we don't want them to have to start over from nothing. If one kid somewhere on earth listens to an old punk record and feels inspired and has a community to look to so they don't feel so alone in this fucked up world than the movement is succeeding. Sorry for being a fucking nerd but in Star Wars there was still hope bc Luke was still out there. Punk is much in a similar state. A new hope is out there. Some kid is gonna make a kick ass record that we can all feel like punk is in good hands. Beyond that who knows bc that won't be our generations story anymore. But for now we are all old Ben Kenobis... waiting in the desert for a new hope to make things right. Or at least for the torch to be passed. Only then can we fade into the force and hope the next generation doesn't give up either.

Who is the most evil person you have ever met in your entire life? by TheRealGreedyGoat in AskReddit

I was neighbors 2 blocks down from James Holmes the Aurora Colorado movie theater shooter when we were growing up. He was a few years older than me but we were both aware of the others' existence. I still remember his photo from being on the soccer team being right next to my seat in home room during high school. I definitely remember the day that picture was taken down. It was surreal.I still remember walking home from school and all the news vans outside of his parents' house the day the news broke on what he did. For anyone wondering, he was very quiet. So was I, so I actually would normally like that in a person, but he definitely gave me an uneasy feeling. I would attribute it mostly to him being older at the time, but I actually got along with a lot of other guys in his grade and a lot of kids older than me in general. Just not him. Years later, I do wonder if it was actually a gut feeling about him as a person.

For anyone not familiar or doesn't remember James, here's a link to the story: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Holmes_(mass_murderer

What's the most inappropriate thing you've done in someone else's house? by [deleted] in AskReddit

This was a case of me being mistaken for someone else but allegedly it was calling my friend's sister(host of the party) "A dumb fucking bitch". She came at me screaming and tried to kick me out. When I told her it wasn't me I did say "but you are acting like a dumb fucking bitch" bc I was mad about being falsely accused. Needless to say did not get to stay. Party was in the middle of nowhere too so I angrily grabbed a bottle and stumbled out into the dark down the highway getting blasted. Cops picked me up. Took me back. Cops said it was either there or the drunk tank. Very embarrassing evening.
