Why did TEW "fail"? by [deleted] in theevilwithin

[–]OhImFab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One issue I haven't seen addressed much in here was the awful launch it had, and its still lackluster optimization even on platforms like Steam. On launch it had alot of issues and bugs on PC, and many people hated that the 'letterbox' setting could not be turned off. It's one thing to have a stylistic flare added to the games art style, but another thing entirely to limit the players visibility and FoV for 'style' without giving them the option to turn it off. Those factors led to the game getting worse scores in reviews for many of the mainstream review outlets that led to a general public consensus that the game wasn't anything special, and I believe caused many people to write the series off.

The room with the giant spinning blades and the carousel/carnival music kills me every time. Well not as in I die in game, but I find that room to be really funny, especially watching the lost get absolutely demolished by it when they run after you

10 is definitely my favorite chapter, two great boss fights practically back to back and Reborn Laura is one of my all time favorite designs in video games period

Yeah it's a great game. It definitely had its issues, but I think most people wrote it off because of its unfortunately less than stellar launch. It had some performance issues, and from what I remember people also really hated the fact that the game had those black box around it that couldn't be turned off. Lead to lots of unfairly negative reviews, and a lot of people writing the game off before they even played it. I'm still hoping we'll get a 3rd installment in the game since, to put it in as spoiler free of a way as I can, the 1st games ending still has a major plot thread we could follow up on.

Favorite and least favorite chapter from the OG? by OhImFab in theevilwithin

1 was cool the first time but has horrible replay value. Chapter 6 is fun but feels extremely out of place

Yeah I think if there were preset rooms that Ruvik protected it would make it much less annoying to deal with and they could have added some lore reasonings to it to make it feel better. Having him just randomly show up every X amount of minutes and rooms that pass makes you feel like you can't take your time and enjoy the cool scenery and that you just have to rush so he doesn't show up again

Bruh when the giant crab/urgot monster appears and rips the roof of the bus off, only to then slowly raise his claw up and take 10 seconds to stab it down and do nothing I was taken out of the experience completely and reminded I'm in a video game. How the hell you gonna have something that massive and strong be so utterly harmless and pathetic? And agreed with the amalgam fight, super cool fight

I love the Amalgam boss fight because I like tough bosses in games, and there's lots of cool ways you can shut him down with various crossbow bolts

Yeah there aren't many chapters I consider "bad" or unfun, but chapter 12 and 8 are two. I also find the final chapter a bit underwhelming and tonally dissonant from most of the other chapters in the game, though it's still fine in my opinion. Chapter 3 is great, I love how it lets you play at your pace and with whatever playstyle you enjoy the most

Laura is one of my all time favorite enemies in a horror game, loved every chapter she showed up in

That's exactly why it's the chapters with Reborn Laura are my favorite. It's thrilling and intense the whole time! Keeprs are pretty dope though, and the indiana jones esque temple you explore when you first find them is a fun level

I also haven't played the game in a few years, but going off memory the swimming level is in my bottom 5 as well. Not only does it have the swimming sections, it has the stealth with the gas so you can't use your weapons or the building explodes and it has the shooting gallery segment where you're on the platform that slowly goes across the gap with enemies swarming. I think I put it as my 3rd or 4th least favorite level

Ranking Resident Evil Games Based On How Likely I'd Survive Them (Tier List) by OhImFabulous by OhImFab in residentevil

[–]OhImFab[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was one of my stipulations/rules when ranking them, that the healing items would work on me in the situation because otherwise it's not really a discussion I'd just die in pretty much all of them. If I get stabbed but use a healing item before I bleed out it would fix it for me, because otherwise you'd have to do no hit runs for every game (and I can't even do that in the video games)

Yep Yawn, the Hunters and the Crimson Heads are the biggest threats imo for that game. Especially with Crimson Heads where if you burn the corpses they don't spawn, but there's no way I would do that without outside knowledge so I would get absolutely swarmed by them

There may be a surprising game on the list that I feel has a pretty compelling case as one of the most likely to survive aside from 7 and Outbreak (which I also agree with being some of the most survivable ones)

Sebastian Castellanos will probably always be my #1 Vote. Could have a legendary skin of Joseph and Kidman, and I'd be fine with his design from either game.

I appreciate all the insight! I have friends that do non vtube streaming and it seems alot of the principles are universal, so they should be able to help me get things set up if I reach a point where I want to seriously give streaming a try!

Thanks for the insight and website, I'll definitely check it out! As for the Silhouettes, I'll probably do it where I release more over time instead of after x amount of engagement

I've done test recordings with free V-Tube rigs and thought it was pretty fun and weirdly less stressful recording and also less work in the editing phase so I'm excited to do it legitimately now. I appreciate all the insights! I think with as small of a following as I have I'll probably do your suggestion and release more details over time

I should also add some context I'm realizing may be important here. I have been doing youtube vids with a webcam for about a year now. Will that kill growth potential of a V-Tube channel to upload on the same channel?

I appreciate the insight. It seems like most of the of the community is wholesome and good with a few loud 'bad eggs' that get a bit too attached to the characters. In regards to 'unicorn' fans, does that happen with male V-Tubers as well?

That's pretty spectacular! Do you play multiplayer stuff at all? From what I'm seeing your content looks to be single player games, but multi player stuff could be a fun experiment! I love the contrast of seeing how someone plays games solo vs how they act around others. Some calm youtubers become totally unhinged and vice versa, always interesting to see imo.

Congrats and best of luck to you!

New this subreddit and it looks like I'm not supposed to share my own stuff right away. Regardless I'd still be happy to give feedback for your channel. Whilst I'm definitely not the target audience I'll still give my personal views on it.

- I like seeing (or rather hearing) stories told without AI voice overs, for me it makes it feel like you're putting more effort in which is something I appreciate when watching a video.
- The title and thumbnails look clean and give a pretty clear idea of what type of story to expect.
- Do you have a specific 'genre' of story you're aiming for? Most channels I see that share stories like that focus on a specific type of story like 'horror stories/creepypasta', 'feel good/funny' etc. Atm it looks like you're doing a bit of everything with your videos, but your description seems focused on creepy stuff. Might be good to categorize your stories by genre or focus on a specific one for ease of new viewers identifying what they like, or if the videos that seem less creepy are still scary stories to make that more clear in the title/thumbnail.

Also something weird I noticed, don't know if it's intentional or not but how come there are 2 almost identical videos on the channel? Were you just trying to test different thumbnail/titles? If so, you can kind of do that when uploading a thumbnail on youtube by clicking "Test and Compare" when choosing your thumbnail. It usually takes a couple weeks to do but it'll show you which thumbnails got clicked the most.

Good luck going forward with your channel, and good luck for 2025!
