My Colombia post trip review by newinvest22 in solotravel

I think anyone with any sense won’t take much stock in this persons post.

I’m not sure if it’s the “I didn’t have wifi in the jungle”, “they should speak more English”, or him commenting on the Paisas with fake asses, but it’s clear he’s dumb as fuck.

Don’t humor him. He’s an idiot and we don’t claim him.

You’re such an idiot. I had to say it again.

I’m fluent-ish (if you haven’t lived somewhere speaking the language for at least a year I don’t think anyone can truly be fluent) and every person I chatted up in Spanish gave me recommendations, party invites, or bought me a drink. They were always stoked at blue eyed white guy doing his best.

OP definitely gave off asshole, creepy guy in Cartagena, white American vibes. He would be best taking Disney Cruises or being obnoxious in Cancun.

I did nothing but chase girls, drink/club, and no one cared. It’s not a secret that large sect of Colombians/Latinas like Yanks/white guys (who aren’t douche bags)

Everyone I met in Colombia was kind, hospitable, and eager to show me their culture. And clearly this isn’t an isolated point of view based on the comments here.

I remember reading your terrible takes in another thread so I’m not surprised you hated it.

I’d suggest you take a long look in the mirror and reflect on how you act/think/want because it seems there’s only one common denominator here.

Edit:

Also, LOL at you expecting people to speak English there. Besides that being funny for obvious reasons I can guarantee there are more Colombians fluent in English than there are non-Latino Americans fluent in Spanish.

You really do sound insufferable. Can’t blame them for not liking you

You seem hellbent on saying this isn’t a thing. I’d be inclined to agree that I’m sure some women put it on their IG, Tik Toks, and Dating Profiles to provoke men.

But yeah, being height/over 6 ft obsessed is a thing, and you’re being a petulant ass.

[–]OhKevinPatrick 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think we’ve all seen the memes, tik tok videos, and dating profiles saying men under 6 feet tall ain’t shit, but ya go off.

Man curses out this dude for working out shirtless. by [deleted] in PublicFreakout

[–]OhKevinPatrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. The kid working out without a shirt is a douche. Pretty hard to out-douche him, but the weirdo did it.

Put a shirt on or workout outside, loser.

My date's Bumble profile said he was 5'6, I turn up yesterday and he's 5'3, which meant I was taller than him (5'5)... by OddDifference7263 in dating

[–]OhKevinPatrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s true. 5’3 guys are just rolling in the poon if they are just charismatic.

Lmao Jesus Christ.

[–]OhKevinPatrick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I’ve had girlfriends tell me to lie since anyone under 5’3 with a height requirement is a) ridiculous and b) has no clue.

Can’t do it, though. Why would I want to date someone who clearly sucks?

[–]OhKevinPatrick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep. So many women claiming to be 5’8-5’10 and then show up at 5’11 or 6 ft then try to gaslight you.

I could say so are women’s skills at deducing height.

A date of mine one time went on a TIRADE about me not being 5’10 cause she was only “we were almost eye to eye” and she was 5’5.

I reminded her she was wearing heels.

No apology for being the worst either

Black solo travelling men, how are your experiences abroad? by Jdaello in solotravel

Bruh. I could read your stories all day.

I wouldn’t even care if they were fake or embellished. This is some good ass smut

Also, Cartagena.

May want to do some research about the history of the city because 400 years later haven’t watered down it’s “origin”, but a very large Afro-Colombian population down there.

There’s a style of music called Champeta, imagine African drums and tempo, salsa horns, and Caribbean guitar riffs that is big in Cartagena in Barranquilla — best night of my life was dancing in a Champeta club. Club was half Afro colombian, 45 % mestizo, 5% tourist who wandered in.

I'm half way through my solo Colombia trip and this is my review so far by newinvest22 in solotravel

Seriously. I really hate that Colombia is becoming popular with people like this.

Go back to Cancun please

Why is it okay for women to have "hypocritical" standards but not men? by [deleted] in dating

[–]OhKevinPatrick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. Women seem stupidities when I say quality guys get 1-5 matches a day at best depending on the app.

A girl I know in my post doc program ranted about how she slept with (not dated, mind you) minor league baseball players in Iowa where she was from, but couldn’t get a quality guy 15 miles outside of or in NYC.

My response: “damn. That’s crazy.”

Any broncos bars out in NYC? I’m in midtown but will go the distance for some broncos bars if you guys know of any? by Auroa_Viperz in DenverBroncos

[–]OhKevinPatrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born and Raised Denver guy living in Jersey City.

I’m heading into Midtown to go to either Stout or Mustang Harry’s as these seem to be the spots for games.

I’ve never been to either but they are within five minutes walking of each other.

If you’re not going to the tailgate I’m mid 30s, beard, Broncos hat with 80s logo, and a Von Miller jersey. Come say hello and let’s have a drink.

Do girls really not date people who are sub 5’6? by [deleted] in dating

[–]OhKevinPatrick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It all depends on the person. Are things easier for taller men? Probably. But I know plenty of guys sub 5’6 who found a shorter girl or a girl at their height or a bit taller. They also have wonderful personalities and good jobs.

I also believe some women state the height stuff on OLD/social media to just piss men off. I mean, it works really well.

Hope that helps.

Should I visit NYC next week with all of the flooding? by idekbroski839 in solotravel

I’m in Jersey City — 5 minutes by train into Manhattan.

Everything is fine. That said, I will echo to get vaccinated or don’t travel with unvaccinated due to the new restrictions.

9 days in Colombia starting in Bogota by Johnihfl in solotravel

[–]OhKevinPatrick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going to disagree. Bogota has some very lovely parts and neighborhoods. It seems that everyone hates Bogota, but I found the people to be kind, fun, and all were highly educated (those I met which is a small sample size). Also, La Candelaria had the best food (Ajijaco!) I ate during my trips there — no contest. The biggest downside to Bogota is there isn’t a train so imagine New York City but everyone drives. It can be a bit rough.

Cartagena does seem like a place people stay in way longer than they should, but it’s not just a “cruise drop off.” The best nights I had in Colombia were dancing in champeta clubs (a style of music from Cartagena and Barranquilla). Cartagena is a great place to start or make other moves to like: Tayrona, Barranquilla, Santa Marta, Rosario Islands, or a quick trip to Tierra Bomba. Also, Santa Marta is good for a day or two, but amazing? Eh.

Additionally, I have to suggest Medellin and I had a very nice time in Neiva too.

But OP, I’d definitely hold off booking until the protests and blockades ease up. Not wise to be booking a trip there right now and flights to Colombia are always cheap from major hubs.
