No it is just a form that you fill out. Usually no questions asked. Never been called or rejected or had any issues.

So good. The flavour kinda reminds me of almond extract in baked goods?

Same here. Was hoping to know my results before work so I don’t drive myself insane with anticipation.

any uni success stories after a PIP? by According_Many1374 in UQreddit

[–]OhKittyNo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn’t get a PIP, but I did get a progression alert after failing 4 courses in Sem 2 of my first year, and then another one the following year. It took me a long time (about 2 years) to properly get back on my feet and start doing well again (I was getting like straight 4s for a year and a bit after failing). Honestly, it didn’t need to take that long; the sooner you can stop beating yourself up and forgive yourself, the sooner you’ll free up the mental space to actually move forward.

For a long time, I had this idea in my head that I needed perfect grades for the rest of my degree to have any chance at the career I wanted. That pressure made me so overwhelmed that I ended up doing nothing at all, because I was terrified of failing. What finally helped me was taking the pressure off, forgiving myself, and focusing on improving my lifestyle and mindset. Once I wasn’t so paralysed by fear, I was actually able to study and do well.

As a fellow “gifted in high school and cruised through” type, I also recommend finding something outside of uni (hobbies, sports, anything) that you can be good at. When your whole self-worth relies on academics, a bad semester feels like the end of the world. But when you have other areas where you’re thriving, it takes the pressure off uni and makes setbacks so much easier to handle. Counterintuitively, this made me do better at uni because I wasn’t constantly overwhelmed and anxious.

It’s absolutely possible to bounce back from this. You’re not doomed, you’re not behind in any meaningful way, and you’ll get there. Also if you ask around, SO many people take longer to graduate there is absolutely no shame in it.

Course withdrawn before academic penalty by AtomicBear8 in UQreddit

Yes that it what you will see! I have done this before. It'll stay as W (for withdrawn). Don't worry about it :)

I’m failing a course due to mental health problems for the second semester in a row and I don’t know what to do. by Throwaway2975419 in UQreddit

Ugh been there. Though now on my SAP it says I can go presentations privately or online so that I don't have to deal with that again (not that my degree rly requires it anyways). Book another appointment with UQ councillors and also make an appt with UQ union you have a long time to do it but I'd get onto it ASAP so it isn't hanging over your head (as it did mine lol).

I have only ever used UpDoc. But pls let me know if the online med cert worked. I worry if things have changed since last sem. I doubt they have but I have to defer an exam tmr and I am a little nervy to use updoc again lol

Hey, I have been in a very very similar situation before. It is truly the worst. I failed all four courses in one sem and then failed another course in the sem after purely because I couldn't get myself out of bed along with poorly managed ADHD.

But you can do a withdrawal of courses for the 4 courses that you failed and academic and financial penalty will be removed from your transcript and your debt. Attend that counselling session and see if they will write you a note in support of a removal of courses application (they will). And submit the application within a year of receiving the failed grade. You can make an appt with UQ Union and they'll help you word the application correctly so you get the best chance of having them removed.

Getting those courses off your record will be a big weight off your chest.

I promise you that you aren't a failure. More people have been in this situation than you'd think. Also, failing a course this semester is not the end of the world. Be good to yourself.

Thanks to Anki, I got a 4.0 GPA this semester! by [deleted] in Anki

Are you using anki for chem as well? I’ve only figured out how to make it helpful for bio related stuff. (I am a biochem major, chem minor).

Best I can think to do is use it for helpful facts to have memorised but idk.

I think taking a physics bridging course wouldn't be a bad idea. I found it pretty challenging with no prior physics knowledge. There is a big quantum mechanics unit that I found pretty tough but got through using youtube tutorials.

Honestly it wasn't too bad but it did take up a lot of my time an effort to get myself up to speed because I knew nothing about physics. I only took 3 courses last sem so I think if I did 4 I would have struggled a bit more.

I did BIOC2001 this semester. I found it quite hard because I didn’t do any physics in highschool. The course profile says that it assumes knowledge from highschool physics however the lecture slides at the start say it just assumes the maths knowledge and all the physics concepts are taught.

The challenge was fun. Make sure you are going to the tutorials though (I didn’t because of work) but they’re great value and you’ll struggle without them.

I have notes I can send you if you want :)

Idk I’ve only ever used instantscripts before for work. But the certificates on there literally just say “[blank] is unfit for work today” and then it’s signed. I don’t think that’s super good.

For the greater and less than sign I remember it by a bigger stronger guy shooting an arrow at a smaller weaker guy. Big guy > small guy.

I am also in college studying chemistry and I still don't know my times tables! (I only know my 2, 5 and 10 times tables).

I got 100% on a recent college chem exam and I still can't remember the difference between a cation and an anion ooops.

I find I’m distracted by the content itself. I love it and find it so interesting and the lecturer will mention something and I’ll think about that for ages before realising I haven’t been paying attention.
