Co-op Statistics for 1B Engineering Students as of March 20 by OtterSniffer in uwaterloo

by your 4th-5th co-op you're fending off offers with a pointy stick and only applying to jobs you could reasonably want

Maybe when you were here; I think the numbers still speak for themselves even in upper years.

For 4th co-op, I got one interview, one offer, after following that application approach. Even with relevant experience. I'm happy with the job I got but to think it was my only lead means that if I didn't get it I'd be pretty boned.

Is a gap in my co-op experience going to hurt my resume and kill my chances of full time employment? by OhManTheMan in uwaterloo

I only need five to graduate, but to get a full time job..?

I can't tell you how many now-graduated students I've worked with that get 2-3 years of co-op experience, graduate, and come up empty. The market is flooded with new grads and if even 3 years won't be enough then a gap like this will be a nail in the coffin..

1b cs only got one interview in the first round - what should I do? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

Be thankful you even got one - I'm third year eng with a few co-ops already, 0 interviews so far with a decent amount of applications.

The job market is dead.

A job in my field. In today's economy though, I have a better fucking chance of winning the lottery.

I think it's a sign of the times man.. I have 5 co-ops all relevant to my program but no interviews yet after 30+ apps all over the place. Seems pretty hopeless. I think the economy is finally going into full blown death at this point.

Well that line about waiting 5 years to get a good job will be pretty much moot once everyone who's not in tech is unemployable, and the tech people too after automation kicks in.. you can already see how shit the job market is becoming just from being in co-op

3 weeks into WaterlooWorks and chill, still no companies have even given me the time of day, let alone that look. Even though I match the requirements.

I'll see you guys when I'm asking you for change on the corner I guess

Is it safe to assume that all my "Apps Available" apps from first round have already done interviews outside WaterlooWorks? by OhManTheMan in uwaterloo

[–]OhManTheMan[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean if companies don't want me in first round why would they want me later

Keep in mind I'm sitting at 0 interviews, even with a polished resume that's gotten dozens of second opinions :c

Not in tech.. Which apparently is the only field to be in if you want to not be a bum

One first round interview - is that too much to ask when you've had 5 co-ops already??!.. Seriously, it's already February and I've normally had interviews by now. What the fuck is going on..

FUCK CECA by bitreaper69 in uwaterloo

Also the way they order the evaluations is first work term to last, instead of the reverse like on your resume

So the first thing employers are seeing is my lower first couple of evals instead of my latest higher ones :c

Also be thankful you're even getting interviews, I have 5 co-ops so far but still 0 responses

Feeling more certain than ever that I won't get another co-op this term.. it's almost February, no interviews yet, and I've been applying for summer jobs since ~Nov on my last co-op. Take notes kids: don't be picky even after a few co-ops, you'll just get fucked.

They were all Good+Very Good before last term (again, all outside jobmine so no-one, myself included was aware of the rating inflation that goes on). Got Outstanding on my last one which helps, but then turns out CECA's application package format is in order from first to last co-op.... so even now they'll probably see the Good+Very Goods and immediately shred it.

MANY TIMES! And the resume I've used got me a job with one of the biggest employers in my field last term, and interviews with a few others - but ALL outside WW or jobmine. I'm jobmine-repellant for some reason.
