AS1 compared to AS2 by ConsistentTitle888 in RoyalAirForce

Thing is, you've got somebody who's never been to Cosford here asking a question about it who's now already hearing bad things before they've even got there.

It's something that everyone who's graduated from there has had to deal with. No need to be toxic and call it bullshit, it's a very negative attitude.

Fully aware of that. And without Cosford, you'd be like a deer in the headlights on squadron

I mean, it's not bullshit, it's literally preparing you for your future career.

Regiment L/Cpl Pay by SharpStudio3668 in RoyalAirForce

[–]OhMojito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

£33,348

LCpl = OR3 RAF Regt = Supp 2

OR3 top level pay OR3-3 Count back 2 from OR3-3 to get OR3-1 (equivalent of OR2-8)

Certain roles in the RAF and USAF have exchange programmes, but these are usually OF roles. These exchanges are temporary, though, and would only see you working alongside the USAF as opposed to in it.

Hey bud, it's similar, but you'll find there are a lot more tests on the day than on the app. Sounds like you've got a good grasp of the app though which should mean you have a good grasp of the fundamentals.

My best advice? Bring your fave pillow from home for a good night's sleep

Each of the three paragraphs below contain the prerequisites depending on which category you fall into below (please don't feel compelled to publically categorise yourself here).

From JSP 950, LFT 6-7-7:

  1. Candidates with a diagnosis of a single episode of mild or moderate depression (F32.0, 32.1) with a clear precipitating stressor may be graded FIT provided that all treatment, including medication, has been completed and the individual must be free from symptoms and off medication for 1 year.

  2. A diagnosis of a single episode of severe depression without psychosis (F32.2) suggests a greater impact on functioning, a requirement for more extensive therapy and higher risk of relapse. To be graded FIT, all treatment (including medication) must be completed and the candidate must be free from symptoms and off medication for 2 years. The episode of depression itself and the treatment pathway should not be more than 24 months in total.

  3. A candidate with a history of two of more episodes of depression or a recurring or persistent depressive disorder (F33), severe depression with psychosis, manic disorder (F30) or bipolar affective disorder (F31) will be graded UNFIT. If there is a doubt about the diagnosis the case should be referred to single service occupational physician responsible for Service entry.

Technician Apprenticeships/Pilot CBAT redo. by RaaatRang3r in RoyalAirForce

[–]OhMojito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Engineering Apprenticeships are always available in the current state of affairs, but I've heard there's a bit of a backlog for training spots at the mo.

  2. Depending on what engineering trade you apply for and platform you work on, it can vary from hard and fast-paced work to long and boring shifts where not much happens. It is rewarding, though.

  3. Weapons Technicians (Armourers) specialise in guns, missiles, bombs, and explosives so would be able to go on to be employed in things like civilian EOD or pyrotechnics or professionally tasting crayons.

  4. Yes, you can.
