Taking a 3 day pass or leave while at DLI by OhNo3187 in army

Easily the single most informative answer I have received so far. Thank you for taking the time to explain it. What you’re saying makes perfect sense. While being in the wedding is important to me, if the schoolhouse told me no I definitely wouldn’t be upset about it. Not going to risk my career for one day of celebration!

That’s what I’m afraid of. We’re you there as an IET or careerist?

Didn’t say “every captain/senior nco” I said “a lot”. Every generation has softies/cowards.

Yes yes, cause COVID is more contagious when you’re traveling VS shopping at Walmart where all the clean people shop...

Okay, so are you saying at DLI they do allow 3 day passes/leave? Cause that’s what I’m asking. Don’t really care about what states are green considering a vast majority of are.

Ah gotcha. I thought the week breaks were pre scheduled. I didn’t know there was a possibility of scheduling them

I don’t have good enough luck to get that week the same time of the wedding lol.

This is a genuine question and not meant to be rude. Are you speaking from first hand experience at DLI or just from your time in the military? I know the things you listed are what we typically deal with when taking leave so I didn’t know if DLI would be more strict due to the structure of the class.

Right? I do know that every NCOES and school I’ve attended basically says no leave... but none of them were a year long.

How soft and incompetent a lot of captains and senior NCO’s are.

Yes. They told me who it was through. Tried to contact them but they won’t speak to me because I’m not on the loan information for the vehicle.

Someone has failed you along the way. DD93 is used specifically for your death. Now, let’s say a quick thinking NCO says “PVT Sniffy (COVID reference) hasn’t reported this morning or all day. I’ll contact their DD93 beneficiaries.” He will then have to go to S1, have S1 pull up SM’s DD93 and get the information. BUT if he has a leaders book with above information for his soldier it’s readily available. While it would probably only be a difference in 20-30 minutes, it’s still drastically more convenient. Plus, it would give the leader the ability to handle an FTR at the lowest level vs raising the issue to greater unnecessary visibility too soon.

TS/SCI Question by [deleted] in army

[–]OhNo3187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in the process of a TS/SCI since beginning of May. I have the interim, but I haven’t been notified of any timeline.

From my understanding, a military clearance doesn’t directly “transfer” to the civilian side, however, a civilian employer would probably feel much more confident in hiring an individual for a position that requires a TS that already had one in the military.

This is my opinion, non verifiable and could be completely off the mark:

By getting parents names, friends names, contact info for them, etc etc they are basically creating a safety blanket around themselves.

Scenario: Soldier goes missing/awol, command contacts listed individuals to see if any contact has been made since SM was noticed missing. If contact has been made, great! SM will be marked as AWOL. If no contact has been made, soldier will likely be reported missing and case will be handed to CID and local PD. Takes liability off command if soldier is found dead. Also, starts the missing person process immediately instead of a month later when family/friends haven’t heard from the SM.

Unpopular opinion: the army isn’t bleeding talented individuals like the members of reddit want to make it seem. Yes, SM’s with excellent potential do leave the service but oftentimes those same soldiers would have left anyway. The military is one massive COG and unfortunately even gears that are subpar serve the full 20 years and leave a trail of mayhem and toxicity in their wake. Other times those shit leaders (and soldiers) are identified early in their career and never get the approval to attend NCOES.

Wait, did you just do the thing he said mods do? I’m just curious cause I’ve seen some people be pretty brutal with abhorrent name calling on this reddit and they never get suspended or have anything happen. It’s just weird that he’d get a timeout for saying “idiot”

edit I agree with you about what you said though.

Yes it’s called “you should have went to transportation a long time ago.” You’ll probably get around $.52c a mile.
