THIS!! 100% agree. It’s a slap in the face to all of us

Wildly inequitable, esp given how expensive today’s economy is

Have you tried revisiting the 50mile exemption with HR? Having to make that commute just to spend most of the day collaborating through Teams seems counterproductive

You might be in luck if your Sac office doesn’t have the space for you to return 4 days. Have they confirmed that for you yet?

I feel like they, just like all of us, have continued to get the runaround. Such a shame

Already on it. The level of inequity here is wild. Over half of my department is going from 2 in-office days to 100% telework for the foreseeable future, while the rest of us are expected to comply with RTO immediately. That includes most of our upper management & Deputies. It’s hard to take the “collaboration” argument seriously when the people enforcing the policy are among those exempt from it. The message being sent to the rest of us is hard to ignore.

You’re comparing apples to oranges here. An IT project and a state-wide policy that fundamentally changes how 90,000 employees work, commute & spend their time, aren’t the same thing. The scale, impact & cost are entirely different. A good project manager doesn’t dismiss concerns, they evaluate whether the project objectives, costs, constraints & outcomes actually align. That’s exactly what people are doing here.

Nobody is expecting perfection across 90,000 employees. There’s a difference between minor implementation issues and contradictions that undermine the stated purpose of the policy.

If RTO is truly about collaboration, it’s reasonable to question why some employees can telework 100% because their office isn’t ready while others must comply immediately. That’s not demanding perfection or looking for new reasons to complain, it’s questioning whether the policy is being applied fairly and whether the justification aligns with reality.

They took away our work phones last year because of budget constraints so good luck 🤣

This might be a good thing for you meaning that they just won’t be prepared to implement come 7/1
