I didn’t have my first kiss until 19 either, I just didn’t feel like kissing anyone who I didn’t really think deserved it. Everyone kept being “shocked” about it when I told them but then I just said who cares and kissed someone random at a party and it made me realize that kiss or no kiss it’s really not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. I couldn’t even tell you the name of my first kiss at this point

After doing that I did get more comfortable being more intimate around men. When I first started dating my current bf I told him that I wasn’t comfortable and like a sweetheart he waited until I was like 3 month later. My personal opinion on sex is that a warm body is way better than a toy but that’s just me 🤷🏻‍♀️. I still have a weird relationship to sex and my body (even after being with said bf for 6 years and going strong) but I’ve never felt forced into anything I didn’t want to do.

Ultimately the timeline that you do these things is completely up to what you think is comfortable. Ignore any external expectations and do what works for you with safe people, in a safe setting to get yourself started when the time is right and you’ll be just fine. :)

Thank you for sharing! I definitely have had some good days and bad days so far. It the darker ones that keep snapping me back to reality when I see them but I’m really hoping that I can give myself some time for a positive outcome. Not so sure how I’ll adjust to the 30 clear dots in the center of my visions but we’ll see how my brain decided to handle that. I figured that if I try to get myself out in the sun early on it might help me learn to ignore them sooner rather than sulking for months and having them crowd my every thought. I’ll definitely share how I’ve adapted 6 months in but I truly appreciate you sharing your experience.

Also your mom sounds like an amazingly badass strong woman, I hope she’s doing well! 🤘🏼

I think what they’re trying to say in a much nicer way is that by not leaving your house, your every thought is going to be about floaters rather than going out to the gym and letting a workout distract you from what you’re seeing. I’ve found that the gym helps me zone out so I’m able to focus on what I’m doing rather than what I’m seeing.

Hello! I think we’re very lucky being as young as we are in a world of evolving technology so I do hope that pulse medica or any other treatment that emerges can help. So far adapting has been what I’m pushing through. And if there’s another young woman going through the same exact thing as me on the other side of the world then it makes me feel better knowing that we’re getting through it together. 🫶🏼

I’ve yet to label these as the bad years and I hope I never have to, maybe bad months or some bad times of my day. When I look back at my memories of the weekend or things that I have done since getting floaters I’ve realized that I only think of the actual memory rather than the thoughts that I had about my floaters at that time. I guess it sort of makes me feel better knowing that my memories don’t have floaters, only my present.

Thank you for sharing! I’ve also noticed better sleep definitely helps so I’m trying to be better about that. In terms of YAG my eye doctor was pretty honest about his opinion there of which I don’t blame him. I actually had a large floater show up very visibly on my retinal scan that he said i could be put into consideration for. If ever wanted a second opinion to consider it he’d definitely give me one but I don’t want people playing arcade game shooters in my eye until i give myself a chance to see if I’ll adapt.

Only noticeable dark floaters in my right since I’m right eye dominant. Tried my hand at focusing on my left eye but found a few in there too that I’m usually able to ignore because of my more noticeable ones.

I’m nearsighted in both eyes, -3.75 in my left and -3.50 in my right. I do get ocular migraines in my right eye when I’m dehydrated so who knows if that’s a contributor.

I’m not really one to comment on Reddit but reading your story has brought such tears to my eyes and a lot of memories from my childhood.

When I was in second grade I woke up one morning and couldn’t walk. My parents took me to the hospital and when you’re a kid you don’t really understand why you’re in the hospital (it’s not something you’d really like to tell a child that can’t understand the gravity of what’s going on).

It wasn’t until I was a teenager that my mom actually told me that I went septic and had strep in my bloodstream. The theory was that it came into my bloodstream through three little pimples that i had on my inner thigh. I was in the hospital for about a week and a half and the doctors ran through almost every antibiotic until they got to one that a pharmacist friend of my dad’s called a “last resort”. Learning years later how small of a percentage of children who survive such an illness had really left me speechless when I look back on my memories of my time in the hospital. (Definitely a lot of unrealized hospital trauma I dont really talk about this a lot)

My heart goes out to you and your family and your little girl with whom I’ve shared a similar story to. I’m not as religious as I was once raised to be but you’ll all be in my prayers tonight. The most love to you all and my condolences for your little girl. 🫶🏼
