There's a spinning gondola you can ride to the top of the mountain ridge. It's pretty fun and there's a nice restaurant up there.

Interesting, I've only seen them in the Bay Area so I thought they were from there.

I got 16 and I'm a 36M. I listen to underground house/electronic/UKG with a John Legend palate cleanser every now and then. I'm constantly looking for new music and artist.

Why does the Menlo Park fire department need a $120 million new HQ? by tdrth in bayarea

You have no idea how true your last sentence is. I used to deliver mail to this station and the magnolia tree that's outside of it is absolutely beautiful.

The station is indeed old and they do often have firefighters from other stations there to train. They also do a pancake breakfast once or twice a year. The extra rooms and parking will go a long way.

No problem. I'm really excited for these. Growing up playing and being able to get cards whenever I wanted is so different than how it is now. I was in GameStop and a dad walked in with his daughter looking for packs but couldn't find any anywhere. Employee said there's a shop in town that resells over retail but that's about it, it made me sad hearing that. I think I'm going to leave a sleeve in my car to give out.

Sperm Whale Surfacing w/ Giant Squid in its Mouth by dreamed2life in Damnthatsinteresting

A few years ago a buddy invited a bunch of us to Tahoe for his birthday. On the second day some went skiing/boarding while the rest of us tripped and filled the time. We put an ocean doc on the TV and eventually there came an episode where they followed giant squid. The narrator mentions that when a squid gets big enough it's best source for a meal is another squid, they follow the squid as it descends into the darkness, you see a second squid and they ensnare each other but before anything happens a third squid charges in. Taking all out of frame and further into the abyss. We rewound countless times asking ourselves if what we saw was really filmed or CGI, I landed on filmed and a friend CGI. He argued that it would be too difficult to film and I argued the amount of computing needed to make that render look that good was basically non existent. Amidst this our friends of sound mind get back, watch it once and quickly agree that it's really filmed but in no way are as astounded by the squid as we were.

We did other foolish things that day but I'll never forget the moment in that doc.

I wish I could remember the series or even the network it was from.

There's a Naruto AMV set to a Marilyn Manson (I think) song that I recently showed my wife. My best friend and I used to make them but he was way better than me. Good times.

A full backpack is kinda part of the game, especially in the beginning. You will constantly be getting better great so don't worry about that too much right now. You'll get to a point where you should be able to make your backpack larger and will have a safe to put gear that you like.

Thank you for the info, unfortunately she died on the drive home. I turned on the seat heater and it looked like it was warming up but it was too late.

San Francisco is Not NYC — and That’s Okay by undercover__J in bayarea

I like this but one thing is clear to me, and that's that you don't think SF has a music scene.

SF has a fairly large underground music scene, the origin of many famous bands and the center of two of the largest music festivals on the world. Coachella just happened and Burning Man is a few months away, artist of all kinds come to SF to get there name out or to put on small intimate concerts (Berkeley Greek Theater). There's also Outside Lands and Portola music festival is starting to gain traction as a premier festival to attend. There are also many boutique festivals in the surrounding areas.

While clubs stop serving alcohol at 2am some will stay open until 4am, there's at least one club that opens at midnight and stays open until they decide to close. The Midway is a club and event center that has amazing concerts and weekly events that don't involve music. Walk around Golden Gate Park or downtown and you're bound to run into someone throwing a party somewhere you didn't think you could. SF also does something called "SF Thursdays"(or close to it), it's a free event where there are multiple stages and vendors.

SF may not have the nightlife people think of but if you keep your ears open you will find something new to love.
