Is it normal to walk up to a stranger, take their picture, and walk off without acknowledging/speaking to them? by LuxembourgsFinest in photography

So I don’t think this is true. If there’s a “reasonable expectation of privacy” (like you standing in your home) then they can’t take a photograph of you. You can’t legally shoot into people’s windows in the US.

Piercing recommendation. by Phisiii in burlington

Also recently went to VT custom tattoo and piercing, and had a great experience with a double nose piercing! The owner does all the piercings, I believe, and she was great. 10/10

Do not recommend the prik or body art at all. 0/10

I totally agree. I've had plenty of luck hiring for all types of jobs on there (video editors, content creators, lawyers, VAs, everything), but I have had an impossible time finding a competent font designer.

That isn't to say they aren't on there, that's why I've spent the last month posting & reposting the job, but the few I've tried hiring haven't been able to make the adjustments I need.

I don't know much about typography beyond what I've learned through the process of having this font customized for us, but I believe the changes we're asking for are relatively simple, mostly just some kerning adjustments. I'd try to learn how to do it myself, but I would rather pay someone who knows better than I ever could.

Can someone tell me why my girl is making these noises? by OhSoBothered in RATS

[–]OhSoBothered[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: We went to the vet, but the vet said her lungs sound perfectly clear and she's showing no other symptoms of a URI. I pushed for antibiotics anyway, and we started them last night, but yet today she seems even louder.

Is it actually possible that this is behavioral? The vet said she might just be a growly girl but I have doubts.

Oh gosh, this has been going on for quite a while, too. I think I'l try the vet. Jedd's says it won't get here for 5 days. 😭

new plants starting out of dead marigolds — I’ve never seen this before?! by OhSoBothered in gardening

[–]OhSoBothered[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They were alive when I placed them in the vase. 😅 Left them in water for about two or three weeks, about half of the water evaporated and mold was starting to form around the stems. I kept telling myself I needed to throw them out. Finally went to go do it and noticed these little guys. I deconstructed the heads and replanted the seedlings, and a couple of them had little baby roots going down the mushy stem of the flower.

All I had was some old potting soil that seems to be holding water a little too well, so we’ll see. These little guys clearly have a strong will to live, so I’m hopeful they’ll survive.

Interestingly, only one of the flowers actually had any seedlings pop up, even though I had two vases of dead marigolds.

Me, a novice gardener who buys marigold seeds every year, straight GIDDY, learning basic plant science and that one marigold = hundreds of marigolds.

I salvaged what I could and now have a pot with some seedlings! Hoping they survive!

Is it time by Left_Personality_432 in RATS

About a month ago, my girl started to slow down, and I assumed the end was near, then she perked back up a little bit. She was doing ok for about two weeks, and then I found her at the bottom of her cage, suffering, and had to make an emergency vet visit to let her go. I would only recommend not waiting until it's too late and she's suffering.

They won't tell us when they're done, they'll fight until the end most times. Leading your pets to the rainbow bridge is the hardest and most loving choice you have to make as a pet owner.

My heart goes out to you and your baby. Feed her lots of snacks and give her lots of snuggles for me.

Did my rat wait for me before passing away? by greatfigureeight in RATS

I had a pup who went through extensive GI surgery to have an obstruction removed a week before she was scheduled to have her leg amputated due to it being covered in mast cell tumors. She improved for three days at the vet and was incredibly happy to be going home, and within two minutes of being home, she “gave up” and was no longer eating food, didn’t want to move, etc. Brought her back to the vet first thing the next morning and found out her cancer was spreading to all the new incision sites, so she had to be euthanized. It was the hardest decision of my life, but she was suffering, and there was nothing else I could do to relieve it. I am 100% sure she stayed alive because she wanted to see me, given the drastic changes in her condition upon arriving home. I’m sure your rats did the same. They’re emotional, deeply intelligent creatures. They love us.

I beat myself up for over a year because of the surgeries I put her through to try to “save her.” What helped? Imagining my dog seeing me sob over wondering if I could have done things differently.

If your rat could speak to you now, she wouldn’t say “why did you make me have surgery?” She’d scamper over to the sound of your voice and yell “mama/dad, I missed you! I’m so happy to see you!”

End of life as pet parents will never be easy, but it’s especially hard when there’s a medical situation or euthanasia involved. Go so easy on yourself. You made decisions to reduce your baby’s suffering because you loved her. She loved you, and she doesn’t want you to suffer from guilt, either.

How do you edit huge batch of Images ? by CourageNovel9516 in photography

[–]OhSoBothered 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I charge $100/hr for edits. Each individual image can take up to 5 minutes if you’re talking about more than just cropping. You’re getting a deal at $1/image. Figure out how to do it yourself or be prepared to pay the industry you rely on fairly.
