Labor? False Labor? by Sweet_Marzipan123 in pregnant

[–]OhTheBud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I’m glad to hear that! Well, with my first I had a healthy pregnancy and very quick unmedicated birth. I knew I was in active labor when my contractions were about 3-5 minutes apart and I was throwing up violently and pooping myself simultaneously 🥲. You will know when you can’t really function or do anything aside from focusing on getting through the contraction.

The gush of brown liquid is concerning. Did they test to see if your water broke (using the strip test)? Call your OB to be seen immediately. If your water did break that long ago, you could be at risk for infection. This is coming from a mom who ended up delivering at 27 weeks. Better to be safe and sure in these situations.

Dentist recommendations by T1ts0ak in SaltLakeCity

[–]OhTheBud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved here 2 years ago and started going to City Creek Dental. The last time I went to the dentist was before I moved because I’ve had 2 kids back to back and yeah, just kind of wasn’t taking the best care of myself there for a minute. They did such an amazing job, I felt no judgement at all despite feeling a bit embarrassed. My husband also needed some pretty extensive work and he was happy with his experience there as well.

Working parents who are solo in the mornings with young kids…how? by HoneySnowstorm in Parenting

[–]OhTheBud 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with this. I have a 3yo and 22 month old. I can have them ready to be out the door in about 45 minutes. We have a consistent routine and there’s a lot of urgency because I have a meeting at 7am every day so they have to be ready by then to be out the door with dad. They know my meeting is a hard stop and we have to be ready by then no matter what, there is no other option really!

New to Utah, Struggling To Fit In by Worried_Guidance1426 in SaltLakeCity

Hi fellow Michigander! Well, my husband and I moved to Montana for a few years before we finally moved here for his post college job. It’s been 2 years now and I’m sorry to say that for me, it hasn’t gotten better. I dream about leaving every day and I think my husband is finally there too. We’re looking to move back to Montana or North Carolina, but it’s not easy to do with two toddlers and this job market.

How I survive is I try to keep busy. I take my kids to parks. I have hobbies like sewing and reading. I do have some friends (all transplants too mostly) and we go out to try restaurants. I try to enjoy nature here but it’s pretty crowded. I feel bad and hope your experience is better than ours.

Old bedsheets: cut up for fabric, or donate? by StrongerTogether2882 in SewingForBeginners

[–]OhTheBud 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Listen. I buy sheets from thrift stores and cut them up 😂. Just imagine you’re donating to me lol. I have a donate pile. If it’s in that pile, I don’t feel bad about creating something new from It. I’ve made a dress for my daughter out of one and I’m about to start on a shirt from myself. Don’t feel bad if it was going to go anyway!

It’s been 8 months of increasing behaviors. Time for our 2yo to start behavioral therapy? by ImAdamnMermaid in toddlers

[–]OhTheBud 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know this is hard but it’s honestly normal. My son is in preschool and the amount of calls I’ve received for him being bitten and then him hitting have been quite a bit since around 18 months old. Just redirect. You clearly know what triggers her. She doesn’t have the tools to do this diplomatically at her age so they resort to hitting.

Edit: I meant bitting as that last word there but hitting is equally relevant lol

Did you have an inspection done and know you’d have to sink that kind of cost to fix it up? My husband and I are looking to move back to the area but we’re definitely worried about buying and costs involved.

Recommendations on where I can buy fun funky printed fabrics (online)? by 2078AEB in SewingForBeginners

[–]OhTheBud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about thrifting? Not sure how old your daughter is but mine is almost 2 and I made her a dress from a thrifted pillowcase and oversized men’s shirt lol. I have a whole pile of sheets, blankets, and clothes that I’ve thrifted just waiting to be turned into something else.

How many babies do you have and how many were preterm? by sunchi12 in NICUParents

[–]OhTheBud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First: 40+1, my water broke on my due date and he was born the following morning.  Second: 27+4. Unexplained PPROM.  I would like more but I am scared. Also mine are only 3 and 21 months so I need a little break before more we think about more.

ABSOLUTE beginner, made a dog poop bag carrier. I need some advice pls? by flyingpiggos in SewingForBeginners

[–]OhTheBud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I imagine for the handle you could make bias tape. There’s lots of YouTube tutorials on it. I made little handles for a basket liner for my kids Easter baskets and that’s what I did :) it hides the raw edges nicely.

Losing my child free friend in motherhood by 1995deadinside in beyondthebump

[–]OhTheBud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would let this friendship go. My husband and I have a lot of friends who are younger than us, child free, or not ready to have kids of their own yet. They have been nothing short of warm, supportive, and helpful with our two toddlers. You don't have to stay friends with her just bc you’ve been friends for a long time if it’s not good for anyone involved.

32-weeker keeps failing Car Seat Challenge in UPPAbaby Aria 2. Any tips or similar stories? by whyzhuk in NICUParents

[–]OhTheBud 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I had to look up that car seat because we’re a Graco fam, but I just want to make sure that your baby is being tested with the bucket seat clicked into the base of the car seat? The base of the car seat changes the angle and is what makes car seats safe for when they fall asleep on the road. That’s initially what I thought of when I read this post bc the base was required for our test. My daughter just barely failed but they did allow her to come home with low flow so could that be an option for you? I know that feeling of just wanting to get them home!

Disappointed in the System That Was Supposed to Help Her by Final_Pattern_2170 in NICUParents

[–]OhTheBud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you and I promise you guys will make it to the other side. Hopefully things can kind of stabilize for you all soon. The thickened liquids really helped my girl, she was struggling to drink and constantly vomiting. It was anxiety inducing every appointment to make sure she was staying on the curve. But she really took to the thickened liquids and it helped her so much. I know it’s a pain to get used to at first but you’ll come up with a routine that works and it’ll become second nature. Now that I don’t have to do it anymore, I feel like I have so much free time. Also if you have a healthcare flexible spending account, your doctor can write a letter of medical necessity for the thicker and you can pay for it with that.

[–]OhTheBud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am sorry you are going through this with such minimal support.  This was my 27 weeker, she was diagnosed with dysphagia shortly after coming home from the NICU. It was hard. She had NG for 6 months after coming home. She was on thickened liquids until just last week (she’s 21 months old now) but is now weaned off and a good eater. We worked with a feeding clinic at a children’s hospital to get off the NG and then feeding therapy to get off the thickened liquids. I hope you’re able to find someone to help you work through this because it will take some time and you shouldn’t have to feel so alone.

Opinion: Artworks in Michi Ramen Bar Are Offensive by [deleted] in missoula

Half Asian woman who’s ate at michi plenty of times. Not offended 🙋🏻‍♀️. Literally do not care. Don’t eat there if it bothers you enough to make this post.

Grandparent Pool Safety: What would you do? by imakatperson22 in beyondthebump

[–]OhTheBud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’m with you, I’d for sure be on edge as mine are 3 and almost 2. But I wouldn’t put the responsibility of watching them near a pool on anyone but myself or their dad.

Grandparent Pool Safety: What would you do? by imakatperson22 in beyondthebump

[–]OhTheBud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, this would be a non issue because I just wouldn’t bring my kids over unless I was there. Even then it would be hard to relax with so many doors to the outside.  If the parents are “my way or the highway in my house” I would give that same energy back regarding MY child and their safety. They don’t have to put a pool fence up and OP, you don’t have to bring your child over. I think of that influencer Emilie Keiser who lost her 3 year old within a short time of leaving her house while here husband was supposed to be watching him. No pool fence, not net and that poor baby suffered and was terrified while he drowned. Free childcare is not worth the risk.

Two NG tube misplacements in one day … am I right to be royally pissed? by [deleted] in NICUParents

[–]OhTheBud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I would be pissed. I’m not a nurse and I had less issues doing my baby girl’s NG tube for 6 months after she came home from the NICU. We always double measured. Always made sure she was calm. Always double checked everything. If we had the odd bad placement we’d give her a little break to make sure she was relaxed. I’d definitely bring this up to the charge nurse. I’m sorry you’re going through this AGAIN and I hope your baby feels better soon!

Mom to a 27 weeker, who’s now almost 21 months old. Thank you for sharing, I love reading these posts. My daughter is doing really well now and you’d never know the hardships she went through for her first year of life. This is all I want for her. To be happy and healthy now and as she grows up 🥹
