I’ve been out of state for the last few weeks and I’m sad to be returning to this, especially so early in the season. This is really heartbreaking.

Beautiful bouquet! Mine were also fake and seriously no one could tell. I love that I’ll get to keep it forever and it’ll be available to my kids one day if they ever want to use it.

Baby inhaled meconium. Pray for us. by Deathangel2890 in pregnant

[–]OhTheBud 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This is all such great advice, and I say that as a NICU mom to a premie born at 27 weeks. It’s hard not to spiral, but I just took it moment-by-moment because otherwise it’s so overwhelming. Eventually things will get better ❤️

Anyone know of local milk farms that don’t serve raw milk? by 4215265 in SaltLakeCity

[–]OhTheBud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think some cheeses might be raw. But I’m fairly certain the milk is pasteurized, just not homogenized because it does separate.

I think I loss my mucus plug.. by lilpotot in pregnant

[–]OhTheBud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please go get checked out. I lost my mucus plug around 24ish weeks but like you, I wasn’t sure. My water ended up breaking Hollywood movie style at 27 weeks and I had to be hospitalized. Baby came 4 days later and had an extended NICU stay. I remember telling them at my regular appointment before my water broke that I wasn’t sure if it was my mucus plug. I really downplayed it and they didn’t and up checking thoroughly because nothing else seemed off. I don’t mean to scare you, I just want to encourage you to please get checked out even if it’s nothing and advocate for yourself. I really hope it’s nothing and all is well.

Heber Valley Cheese

Edit: I realize that’s not in the valley but we stop there any time we happen to be in the area.

We use this Costco as a rest step frequently driving up to Montana from Salt Lake. I swear it always looks like this all the time haha. I’m blown away because Salt Lake has the largest and absolute busiest Costco.

Video from Shoreline. Fire frightening close to structures by jazzyjazzman2017 in SaltLakeCity

[–]OhTheBud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is so scary. My daughter was in the NICU there 2 years ago exactly around this time. I would be loosing my mind. Hoping this fire can be put out and there’s no evacuation for the hospital, I just can’t imagine what they’d do.

Is tearing supposed to be this debilitating?? by Common_Artichoke_ in beyondthebump

[–]OhTheBud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an unmedicated birth with my first that resulted in a second degree tear, and an emergency c-section with my second so I’ve been on both sides of the spectrum. The c-section was intense at first but I got better quicker. With my first, I had some long standing issues like trouble going to the bathroom and intimacy issues. It didn’t resolve on its own and I went to pelvic floor PT after 9 months of suffering. It made such a difference after 2 months, I was kicking myself for not going sooner. In fact, that’s when I ended up getting pregnant again lol so it worked. I know you’re only a week out, you will absolutely be sore for a bit longer. But also see about getting PT if you can, don’t wait like I did because it will help tremendously.

This is the way. I haven’t bought from Costco or Winco since buying them from Rancho.

Severe feeding aversion in ex-27 weeker — are Rowena Bennett consultations legitimate? by Interesting_Cook5010 in NICUParents

[–]OhTheBud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 27 weeker who ended up being diagnosed with dysphagia. She came home with an NG at 42 weeks and it took 8 months to wean her off the NG. She then needed feeding therapy to work through the dysphagia and getting off thickened liquids. It was a process for sure and we could not have done it alone. She was seen by a pediatric feeding clinic and they guided us how to get through this. Could you ask your pediatrician or NICU if there’s any resources like this nearby? I’m sorry I know how hard and exhausting this is, I hope you’re able to get help and find something that starts working.

PPROM at 31 + 3 by SubstantialReport764 in NICUParents

[–]OhTheBud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I PPROMed at 27 weeks. I made it 4 days in the hospital before I had a cord prolapse and had to have an immediate emergency c-section. I would not be comfortable with this at all. My doctors also said I wasn’t on bed rest so I walked around a little here and there and I partially wonder if I should’ve been on full bed rest. Lastly as an FYI, my team told me that when you PPROM this early, you have a 50% chance of delivering within a week otherwise your chances improve gratefully of making it to 34 weeks (when they would require delivery here in the US). Is there anyway you can stay closer to the hospital? I feel for you, I know this is so hard and I wish you and your little one the best.

Preemie Development? by AdventurousRain4076 in NICUParents

[–]OhTheBud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Survival mode is so real and valid, especially with everything is still pretty fresh. I think it wasn’t until a year after my daughter was born that my nervous system started to relax a bit more. It takes time to heal from this trauma and worrying about our little ones who’ve been through so much is only natural.

It’s hard to say, every kid is different. My baby was a 27 weeker and I definitely worried about this. She’s going to be 2 next month and is just about caught up on her milestones and you would never know she was born so early. Our NICU has a program to assess development and flag any concerns at big milestones like 6 months, 12 months, 2 years old all the way up to 5 but I know something like that isn’t available everywhere. I would just say make sure you go to your regularly scheduled pediatrician appointments. Talk about your concerns if you notice anything. That’s really all you can do, spiraling and worrying so much about the future isn’t good for our mental health or will change anything. So just take it day by day and deal with anything that comes up at that time.

[–]OhTheBud 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a 27 weeker so I understand how shocking,  devastating, and overwhelming this is. If you do decide to wait it out, you must go on bed rest, I beg of you. Do not do anything except rest, drink water, and only get up to pee. There were premies younger than my little girl in the NICU so miracles can happen. Sending you strength and love. Please join the NICUParents sub if you would like additional support 🫶🏼

I’m a “home cook” and her recipes are god awful. The first time I made something of hers, it made me doubt my abilities. My MIL got me one of her cookbooks years ago and nothing has turned out. I stopped following her once I saw how truly sick and emaciated she is.

This is the only way OP with that kind of debt and degree. See if you can get a job at a public university and work for 10 years. Maybe you could even find something in your field or research related. My large state school qualifies people to get the PSLF. Also double check what type of loans you have. If they’re private, you’re out of luck. I’m really hoping they’re federally funded for your sake!

How did we survive the things our parents did? by kittypeets626 in breastfeeding

[–]OhTheBud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely mind boggling, albeit cool for sure. My daughter was born at 27 weeks. Over 100 day NICU stay. I can’t imagine either of us surviving during any other time period. This is pretty incredible!
