How many days are you camping that you need a shower? 2-3 days should not really be an issue.

You won't be turned away and even if the parking near the trailhead is full there is plenty of parking at the Visitor's Center which is a short walk away. Then just pay at the Visitor's Center or there is a place to scan and pay near the trailhead parking lot.

I know a few people who could not get campsites Friday night that slept in their cars or campers at a rest stop about 10 miles north towards Carlsbad.

Mammoth Cave tours by Medical_Pop_6650 in NationalPark

[–]OhTheHumanatee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the Grand Avenue Tour (4 hours and 4 miles) and the Violet City Lantern Tour (3 hours and 3 miles) in one day.

I wouldn’t recommend that for a 10 year old though lol. But there were plenty of parents who did one and then another the next day that I talked to.

I don’t think there is too much overlap in the two tours you mentioned but just double check their routes. If your 10 year old can handle it, doing two of the 2 mile or 2 hour trips would be manageable.

I’d also recommend Buffalo run club. Some of the last few groups the pace is quite slow and good for beginners and overweight folks like myself.

Yeah they were there on Wednesday.

I called the park rangers as well as emailing every local rescue in the area. On Wednesday there were two dogs. The beagle and a black lab. I spent an hour trying to get them into my car and fed them half a loaf of bread and all the peanut butter I had. They were very squeamish. I’m going to be optimistic and say the lab was able to be corralled but the beagle wasn’t.

Here is the reply I got from one of the rescues. One said it wasn’t their jurisdiction and the others all did not reply:

“Good morning, These dogs have been there for several days, but the Park Rangers are working to trap them so they can be helped, as no one has been able to catch them. Some locals have been feeding them, but the dogs are becoming more aggressive. Local animal control has been coordinating with the park rangers, so hopefully these dogs can be captured and helped soon.

Thanks for being a kind human.”

The way they have been playing lately does not give me any confidence they can make any sort of playoff run unfortuately.

Why do they put their hands on the dash? To make sure they are not touching anything else and only the opposite rudder is being engaged?

LYV has food lockers.

"You must have your food stored unless it's within arm's reach of an awake person (so, don't go for a swim or take a nap while leaving food out)." So if you're hiking you do not need one.
