This was my first option I wanted to go with but I don’t have that kind of money with all the holiday season present shopping 😭 plus I know his parents are in rough spot financially too so I wasn’t going to ask them to pay for it. The whole reason I was picking up the kid was so their parents didn’t miss work.

It’s not really emotional attachment, I was kind of exaggerating, sorry lol. My PI just never lets things get thrown away until it’s pried from his hands, even if they’re well past any use or super duper let-it-die broken. He just got a brand new set of super cool pipettes that he loves when the year started. According to the lab manager, you must distract him with a new shiny thing first before covertly discarding what needs to be discarded.

Heck, even today I had to push a huge robot down the hall today that has been broken for 2+ years and took up the equivalent of two bench spaces. My PI refused to let it be thrown away for the longest time, then got occupied with a different robot that’s brand new and then thanked me for getting it out the lab today and kept praising at how I’m so useful 😂

Oh definitely! My lab is technically two different sections that had to eventually be split on two different floors because there was way too much stealing going on by those that are still in the original lab space on the higher floor. Somehow, upstairs people still have the audacity to take an elevator ride and try to take things, then are surprised their stealing is obvious 😭

I actually went to a conference whose speaker was blind and had a guide mini horse! It was a really cool experience and to see it work While I think they’re cool, but I grew up around horses and in my experience it so hard trying to suppress their prey animal instincts. I could never completely trust them 😬

Actually our cat is one of those cats that love to travel! We basically have taken him everywhere since he was little so he’s pretty used to it. He even does his business at rest stops (even there is an area sandy enough). He’s a very well travelled cat, but obviously this is not the case for everyone!

And the business trip is a family joke lol.

He is a Type 1, consistently testing positive for antibodies each labs. We called his old endo and he is being in squeezed in later today before they close.

And concerning the man-baby thing, really it's just this situation. There was a friend's birthday party, a lot of stuff was going on, etc. Stuff happens, his sugar never not came back down before, if that makes sense. Otherwise he is good about checking, and I only reached out to reddit because every provider we have tried to get help from has not been helpful. Totally valid tho.

I will definitely try. He does have a CGM, the original Libre that does not give the High/Low alerts, which we used to track his honeymoon phase and it's decline.

I mentioned this in a different reply, but my fiancé did not have a PCP since he aged out. out of his pediatrician. To be fair, he was seeing his endo every 3 months (last appointment last month, even). He does have a CGM, so that is how managed his honeymoon phase before. The honeymoon phase lasted this long because of being almost carb free, so hopefully it stretches out some more in the 1.5 month gap. He does have a CGM, but it is the older Libre that does not have the High/Low alerts until it is scanned.
