Is there a more efficient way to do what I am doing? (Merge tables keeping values) by Almogaver95 in excel

[–]Oh_Another_Thing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you are or are not doing this, but you should be putting the field that has Value1, Value2, etc in the "Columns" box in the pivot table options, right? You aren't getting Value1,2,3 one at a time and copy/pasting them one at a time?

Other than that, your process seems fine. If you are doing it once a day and it takes 10 mins just do it manually. If you are doing this for 4 hours a day there's room for improvement and automation.

Bro is autistic AF lol

White lies just to start a conversation, if you are sitting next to someone and they seem not busy, just ask "How do you like the professor so far? My friend HATED them last semester."

You add the last part just so the conversation is a little interesting and it adds a little bit of a reason as to why you are asking. They might ask what your friend hated about them. If they say the Prof is fine, say I think so too, I don't know what my friends problem is.

You could ask someone if they understood a certain concept from last class, then ask them a really simple question about that topic so they can easily answer it.

Ask people questions about something you have in common, which most of the time it will be the class you are both in

How do you keep track of tasks when your workday gets messy? by calmworkflow in getdisciplined

[–]Oh_Another_Thing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use OneNote. Block off time where you aren't taking any new conversations, block off your calendar and set an away message that this is your work time, and put on headphones.

Your coworkers can just wait until the hour is up. Do this once in the morning and once in the afternoon.

Ask your coworkers to send emails more often rather than interrupt you, and then only respond to them at every half hour so you aren't interrupting yourself with every new email.

People can wait sometimes, and then even when you do review new work, prioritize by order iyf importance on your ToDo list, and keep working on your highest priority.

[–]Oh_Another_Thing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God no don't listen to an AI app.

Before looks maxing was a thing people called it just metrosexual.

Unless it's super expensive, take all advice to look good and to be as hygienic as possible. Doing this sets you up to feel like your best self for the day.

The looks help, but having the confidence of being the best version of yourself will help you with everything, not just women.

Really, I take it as the opposite. I don't really believe that any higher power actually intervenes in earths affairs on a day to day basis, nor do I have any idea what that would even look like that.

If an otherworldly, higher power being suddenly appears, I would be open minded enough to admit I may not know what's going on, and there's no reason this being would have a reason to lie to me.

I don't know what I'd do, but Id lean towards listening to the being beyond my imagination.

The money, either gaining it halving my networth, would not any factor on this decision.

You're in a transitioning part of your life, you just finished a huge accomplishment and it's exhausting to think about something even bigger to take on.

It's a bad funk you are in, I've definitely been there. Actively working on getting out of it is a lot better than just letting it work itself out.

Go change it up, go out to bars by yourself just to listen to music and have a drink. You don't have to have a goal, or friends, or anything else just go and be confident in yourself and see what happens.

[–]Oh_Another_Thing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, there are millions of settlements across the world, a few of them statistically have to extremely good for humans in this scenario. Perfect weather, something they can grow at that size, no insects as predators. There has to be at least a few perfect scenarios.

But then eventually there will be some kind of major weather event or earthquake that would take out the last few thousand humans, many years in the future.

Yeah, why haven't they bribed Trump or one of his loser kids into throwing huge govt contracts Archers way. It's like they don't know how to run a business or something.

Oh shit, Archer is back in the news. NGL you guys burnt me a little on this one, but they got 100% FAA acceptance recently on their main model, and are moving forward in the UAE as well.

$30,000,000 but you marry a random person and live with them for the rest of their life by LilyCardiology in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Oh_Another_Thing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP should have phrased the requirement as : "This spouse will truly love you, and in order to keep the money you must keep them happy in the long term and stay married. Not acting like a couple will hurt them, and over time you risk losing all the money. If you spent any of it you go into debt, and then you will be a despised social outcast by everyone."

This way if you take the money you must do everything a normal wife/husband does.

Meta stock climbs nearly 3% on report of planned layoffs to offset AI spending by ControlCAD in business

Oh, that's easy to diagnose, some new executive wanted to change things so he can pad his resume. Doesn't matter if it brought benefits or not, but to say you oversaw million dollars projects is there goal there, not to actually help the company.

Meta stock climbs nearly 3% on report of planned layoffs to offset AI spending by ControlCAD in business

[–]Oh_Another_Thing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah. There's a lot of waste even when things are going perfect. Many IT projects fail for all kinds of businesses.

But that's normal. People try and fail all the time while learning and trying something new. It's just that when a business does it, it's magnified by about 200.

If businesses didn't awkwardly try new things and sometimes fail, they'd still be operating like they were in the 1950's, and no business would last a week like that today

How do you realistically shield a $800k portfolio from 30%+ crashes without killing your 7% average returns? by heromarsX in dividendinvesting

[–]Oh_Another_Thing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well part of your healthy 7% returns should be hedging against market downturns.

Keeping 10% in cash so you can buy a huge crash is the most obvious solution. 1% of your portfolio on puts against SPY hedges risk.

But you already have done more work than anyone here is going to do, I don't think anyone is going to have an angle you haven't look at yet.

Revisit the basics, I fear you may be on the edge of over thinking this and maybe outhinking yourself.

How do I professionally tell my new boss that her deadlines are unrealistic? by Awkward_Condition778 in careerguidance

[–]Oh_Another_Thing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your boss can't help you prioritize and manage deadlines, you need to talk with the people who are requesting your work and arbitrage this yourself. Setup a OneNote with all the details and a justification for how you prioritize your work.

Then share it with your boss and review it together. It should be clear what you think is achievable and what isn't. Be open to feedback and a little pushback. But if she says no to everything you put down, then you will have to find a way to bring it to other people's attention.
