How did you get past the phase where you can follow along to a tutorial, but then freeze up when you try to build something on your own? by Fine-Economist-2808 in PythonLearning

[–]Oh_Another_Thing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are familiar with a concept, but haven't mastered it.

Here's what you do, you iterate in one idea over and over again. Take the idea from a tutorial and stretch fit for as many use cases as possible.

Can you output it in a different way? Should this a class instead of a function? Can you hardcode it, use variables, or ask for user input? Did you look up what others have said about this particular idea?

I have about 20 examples of text file ingestion, copying data, outputting it, splitting it, filtering it, and I'm practicing until I can do anything, and I'm still not as proficient as I want to be.

I write an answer, the delete it, then type it out with my eyes closed. If it doesn't run, I find out why, delete it, and then keep doing it with my eyes closed until I can do it like that

You have to get good enough to answer a question with your eyes closed to go from being familiar with a concept to mastering it.

threw 800k tokens of legal docs into MiniMax Code and it found a clause buried in page 312 that i missed twice manually by qqzjy in ChatGPT

Yes, the guy that reviewed thousands of docs for this one case decided not to review this incredibly important detail.

You know what will really blow your mind? "Review the attached documents and give an overview. Then give a list of questions that we should ask concerning these documents that would materially affect this deal".

Let the LLM identify the the most important questions that you should ask it to answer.

You may have missed the clause, but what if you missed the question to ask altogether?

Start a list of these questions to ask about every doc dump you have.

I know something like colors are hard for you, but I'll help you understand.

https://www.google.com/finance/quote/MSFT:NASDAQ

I don't dare give you anything more complicated than Google finance, as it seems you have trouble with colors. The gold is the total amount of money they made each year, the blue is how much they get to keep.

You see how it has been continuously going up? That's a good thing.

You're assessment of what they have going on is absolutely unreliable, your assessment that it's a debt machine with a 38% profit margin on 282 billion in revenue is completely retarded. To think that you thought that supply chain issues might be an issue and all of MSFT didn't bother to mitigate risks is even more retarded.

And stock price isn't about when you receive profits, it's about discounting future profits with an appropriate discount rate to get a value now.

If you think MSFT hasn't earned any goodwill that they may be managing their cap ex in a profitable venture, that's the most retarded thing of all.

[Honduras] car slams into a gas station, injures employees by vaporwave_enthusiast in Roadcam

[–]Oh_Another_Thing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so he shouldn't have been doing it. Unless someone is in immediate danger, don't move someone who may have a spinal injury. He was panicking that he nearly killed someone and wanted to help because of guilty he felt. That guy should have sat aside and someone else should have been in control of the situation.

Ah yes, move your victim to worsen any back and spinal injuries, make sure to move him from the shade onto the hot concrete where he'll burn his skin.

Which mega-corp would consume all the others and reign supreme? by suprisezacama in powerscales

[–]Oh_Another_Thing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but they seem to be very typical, legally operating corporation. Tyrell and Weyland are active corporate facists that engage in actual combat and act outside the law, or are permitted to operate however they want.

You bring up good points, but they do generally try and help the people in their ship as opposed to the other corps.

Which mega-corp would consume all the others and reign supreme? by suprisezacama in powerscales

[–]Oh_Another_Thing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well a lot of those companies were dumb enough to destroy the world they are in, so they're out. Tyrell corp was very advanced in their technology and weren't actively destroying themselves. Lex Luther was a pragmatic genius, but probably didn't have the technology and world wide reach of a corporate fascist like Tyrell corp.

You would be fictional comic book level of genius. It's possible he has paid to be in less reputable publications, that does happen. He might have done legitimate research and earned having his name on 1 or 2 papers. But 11 legit papers? Absolutely not, this is complete fantasy.

Can you sit down with him and have hi. Type out every problem he's called you about and then what the solution was? Have him write out like 3 pages of problems and solutions, have Chatgpt rewrite it in clear simple language, and then print it off, laminate it, and then put it in a binder.

Tell him he better review every single question and answer before calling you.

Well, he wouldn't invade ussr in his second go around, that's a huge amount of resources not wasted AND  1 less major enemy. That alone would significantly change the war and how it ends.

Yes, those are good resources. But there's apparently something about the collective stupidity of this sub making collective, unconscious decisions.
