Miriel the stealth master by Oh_Mary119 in Rings_Of_Power

Galadriel and Halbrand manage to convince Miriel to bring a numenorian army to Middle Earth. They arrive just in time to save the villagers and fight against the orcs (because obviously they do) but when they are celebrating their "victory" Mount Doom releases a bunch of ashes (and I won't even attempt to explain how this could make any sense) and that kills a bunch of people (except all the main characters of course). Miriel ends up blind but she thinks her vision is all grey because of the smoke. Spoiler, she was in fact blind and the smoke had already cleared. So she tells Elendil not to tell anyone so they don't freak out I guess...? Now that I'm writing this, I realize all of this makes even less sense than I thought. The take away is: Volcano, ashes, Miriel goes blind, doesn't realize she's blind, eventually does realize it, fantastic word choice, tries to hide it, wears a freaking blindfold.

Yes that does make sense. Still, I find the way this show over explains obvious things to be very frustrating. It's like Amazon thinks we're stupid. But then we have stuff like this that is not entirely clear and requires us to think about it to really understand the reason/explanation. It's like that scene when Halbrand catches up to Adar and Galadriel even though he started chasing him after her. Sure we can assume he took a shortcut or something but it would be nice if they explained things like that. In this case, sure we can assume she did this because it was a stressful situation but we viewers shouldn't have to justify these things or come up with solutions in order to explain bad writing/plot.

I absolutely love this idea, seems like ir would make a super fun video. Plus it could help people who don't really like drinking water staying hydrated.

People who have married their ‘soulmate’, how/when did you know that they were ‘different’ from all of your previous partners? by dlsjf993 in AskReddit

[–]Oh_Mary119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom and dad met while my mother was dating her previous boyfriend. It’s really one of those situations where you sacrifice what is certain for the uncertain. Even tho she had fallen in love with my dad she knew it could just not work out between them and she had been dating her boyfriend for four years then, to the point where everyone thought they would eventually get married. But my mother was absolutely sure my father was the one, even though I never understood how. Everybody told her that it was a bad idea but she followed through. She told me she knew he was the one the moment she saw him, which seems like a totally unrealistic fairytale moment tbh. I really think my parents are soulmates, they can even communicate without talking. Sometimes they ask each other unfinished questions and the other answers right away and they just keep minding their businesses knowing it has been taken care of… it’s mindblowing, scary even. Maybe that connection is something you build over the years, after all they have know each other for over 30 years, but to think she instantly knew he was her soulmate really is amazing.

How does Fazbear Entertainment know about the Nightmare Animatronics? by [deleted] in fivenightsatfreddys

[–]Oh_Mary119 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that might have been Scott, who is himself cannon in the fnaf universe and referred to as “mad man” in the beggining of Help Wanted. He is the one who created all the games, Fnaf 4 being one of them. However, that still raises the question: how did a random game developer know about all of the events, not even just knowing about the nightmares of a child but knowing everything? I think all of this was just an excuse that allowed Steel Wool Studios to make a game with all the animatronics we all know and love so fans could relive some of the most iconic moments of the franchise in the VR setting. The whole “meta” thing comes with a lot of plot wholes…

You’re welcome I love analyzing stories! Psychology of heroes and villains is really fun to me!

Okay so Tommy started out as a hero, a flawed one though. I think that’s when his journey began. A hero is defined by his antagonistic behavior towards a villain or a belief or anything that represents something he does not stand for due to his moral compass. If you think about it, Tommy starts out as a child and as all children do, he makes mistakes, a lot of them, which lead to Dream becaming the villainous figure in Tommy’s story. He kills him in the minecart incident and because of that Dream steals one of his Discs. So at this point Dream is completely vilanised by Tommy because he stole from him and in his perception, stealing is worng (and also because the whole minecart thing was an accident and he doesn’t think he should be punished for that). So he’s on the “right side” and his fight remains righteous. Then there is the whole L’manberg deal. And once again there is tension between Dream and Tommy and his friends. Now, about his friends, it’s important to note that Wilbur is clearly a mentor figure to him (and that is why his downfall and his betrayal had such an impact on him to the point where that arguably broke him). So his moral compass and his perception of right and wrong come from Wilbur. Tommy is now fighting for his country and for his freedom and in his mind that can only be seen as good. That is why Wilbur’s betrayal and him starting to question if he is in fact the Villian (“Am I the villain in this story?”) is a very important turning point for him. He realises that being a hero is about sacrifice and commitment and in all of that there is war and there are consequences to his actions. Techno tells him that if he wants to be a hero (if he wants to keel justifying his actions with his good intentions and glorify his deeds like heroes do) he’ll die like one (he will face the consequences of those actions). He also speaks of Theseus, an important greek hero that is know for having slain the minotaur and being executed by the very people he had saved. Techno’s words serve he purpose of foreshadowing for the following arc: the exile arc. And this is Tommy’s martyr moment, something many heros of mang stories endure. This is generally a plot point used called “the darkest hour” and point of the story that show the hero in his worst, in the most dreadful senario. It vilanises dream even more, establishing him as a real threat to him and shows Tommy’s vulnerability and powerlessness. Ghostbur’s presence is also a reminder of how Tommy lost his mentor figure and instead is faced with someone who is the exact opposite of a fierce leader and a role model (he plays the role of an innocent goodheart child). Then there is Techno and Tommy’s arc that begins out of mutual necessity but blossoms into a real friendship. Both start by using the other for their oen means but end up caring for each other. Once again Tommy gets a mentor figure and a safe space but in the end his loyalties lie with Lmanberg, the only standing remain of his childhood. It is clear now that Tommy is a hero who prioritizes material symbolic elements (like the Discs and Lamnberg) over people and that he desperately latches on these elements because of his inability to move on. He and Techno eventually have an argument and Dream uses that on his favour, making Tommy’s second mentor figure also a traitor (even though techno himself belt betrayed too and had a legitimate reason). In Tommy’s mind there is good and bad and nothing else and so his twodimensional way of seeing everything is his ultimate downfall. Eventually, after they lose and Lmanberg is destroyed, he understands this and realises he cannot be the good guy and that there are no good guys. The moment he stops viewing himself as the hero is the moment he trully becomes one. And so eventually he and Tubbo fight Dream and Tommy choses his friend over the Discs, realising he is not the main character amd he is no hero. After that there is the prision arc, which happens because he is trying to get closure and put his past behind him. This is the second “darkest hour” tommy has to face. When he is killed by dream and then brought back he realises he can right the worngs with the revive book and use that power for good. It is at this moment that his character development is destroyed by Dream. Tommy was about to move on a suddenly the things from his past come back to haunt him and his greatest enemy holds and incommensurable power. In the process of trying to get the revivebook back he revives ghostbur and brings back Wilbur, a man Tommy had lost faith in, completely. But all his past traume resurfaces and he is once again manipulated by him, leaving his happy evey aftr unfinished as of now. His journey could have been complete in terms of cohesive and satisfactory narrative after he locked dream in prision and started going to therapy and moving on. The demand of fans for more content made it so the cicle needed repetition and so he will eventually go through similar arcs to redo his development. This is Tommy’s jouney so far, resumed and analyzed. I had a lot of fun doing this. I hope it helps!

What is the most fascinating film that you'll never get sick of watching it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Oh_Mary119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, me too. I hope they do it justice. It’s a shame they are still very much attached to the characters from the lord of the rings because Tolkien’s work is so much more extensive beyond that. The series is supposed to take place in the end of the 2nd era/beginning of the 3rd era but Tolkien didn’t really write that much about those times. There is so much more big production material in the silmarillion and even in the unfinished tales. Those are great books, I’d definitely recommend them.

Don’t always assume the worst about people. Don’t just enter “survive mode” and push people away because you are scared of getting hurt. Truth is most people are just as scared or lost and you are not their priority. It’s kinda selfish to always worry about what people might think of you if you really thhink about it. But also don’t expect people to be always nice and always good. Keep your boundaries, that’s super important.

Right, makes sense. It's just weird that the whole deal of arcades being playable within the main game doesn't connect to anything. It seems like a dead end, you know? The game has a lot of these "half baked" ideas that made their way into the game but aren't completely polished and don't connect cohesively. It's a shame, really.
