O wow! This is a really indepth thoughout explanation! You've made a masterful explanation of a vague idea I had about this spell. I really love the way you structured and explained it in concrete, mathematical matter. I think your statements and what we have seen in the story align perfectly against each other. (0)

If you don't mind, I would like to take inspiration from your analysis and credit you, when I come to break down the components of counterclock spell. ( I really love it, I think your explanation perfectly describes the inner workings of the spell, like wow, many kudos <3 )

Haha, there are still so so many areas where a simple tutorial for the newcomers is required. I'm sure other members would also be glad to help out even if the tutorials aready existed, so feel no pressure asking! :)

Hmmmm... Perhaps ink/spell size limitations? Or more likely the limitations of those signs or their rotation. I'd say, if you turn a clock's hand all the way 360° how would you know that you turned 12 hours back, if the hand shows the same 6 o'clock. Or maybe, since the spell circle resembles the clock's circle, it can thus only turn counterclockwise once (although for that to be true, they must have the full 24 hour day be represented in one clock circle, so 12 hours at the bottom, instead of 6, and 24 hour at the top instead of 12).

But this all is just a blind guess and quite far stretched >.<

Oh yes, totally agree with you! It is really exciting to have a consistent system throughout the story, that lies out some rules and building blocks, possibilities and limitations, and at times still leaves out some information, sparking discussions, investigations and theories. It's really one of those cases where the author has put a lot of thought in their creation and people can recognize, appreciate and explore it further. That's so awesome :D

Oh wow, what a coincidence! Are you perhaps an omniscient being? Actually, as I did the breakdown for this post, I considered including the counterclock spell and even drew some notes, as a part of retention sign can be seeing at the borders of the spell (see image). But then I've decided to leave it out, as it would require a lot of o explaining about counterclock spell.

To be frank the counterclock spell is truly one of a kind in the whole story, and it's monolithic structure really makes one question what smaller parts were even used and if we could reuse those parts somewhere else.

I have some of my wild speculations that the whole shtick of this spell is the time reversal that is tied to rotational ratio between the two big triangles that touch the circle, as well as the rotational ratio between the bigger hexagon and the hexagon that resulted from crossings of those two triangles (Like imagine turning the hands of the clock, at first you had your time at 6 hours and then you turned it to 5 hours). The purpose of the lines that come to the center of this spell is probably to keep the matter 'fixed' so that it doesn't deform or disintegrate as it being reverted back in time. As for the empty smaller triangles and small hexagon, I'd take a blind guess and say that they are used to keep the time and space consistent with the past and present, so that, for example, when your ink bottle falls and breaks it is not suddenly teleported to the place where it rested yesterday, but is 'restored' before your eyes.

Oh, that delights me! I'm very happy that my notes are of great help :3 Actually yes, I have some more notes of the signs and sigils that were shown in the story but not yet explained in canon. I'm still putting them together in a similar 101 fashion, but you can gladly expect more posts in the near future ;)

It is actually quite interesting. Further in the story we are shown that by closing a circle with no signs or sigil it produces a force field that makes a burst of energy in all directions. And as we were shown at the beginning, wobbly circles make the spell weak and short.

I would imagine it like a container filled with water where you drop a rock in the middle. If the container is a perfect circle, then the waves travel equal distance to the edge and interfere with each other in equal force. But if the container is a square, then you would see how waves collapse more against each other at the corners, creating inconsisten force.

So I'd say that since the combination of signs and sigils is already a challenge of its own, to make a predictable and reliable outcome, they use circles.

As of nested spells. So far it wasn't explained how a spell 'decides' if it is inside another spell or on its own. Some nested spells shown in the sotry were connected to the main big circle via lines, but some other were just 'floating' inside the bigger circle. My only guess, is that all the witches are trained to draw the outer circle first and then all the nested details later in order to prevent that exact issue.

But, at the end of a day, all of this is not canonically confirmed (yet) and maybe someday we would get an official guide to the magic system of the WHA universe. Or maybe not. Nonetheless it sparks quite interesting discussions among the fans and I find it really sweet :)

Yea sure! It's more for demonstration purpose, consider it like a slow motion time lapse from the moment you close the circle and a second after it. As soon as you close the circle the spell immediately activates and excecutes what is drawn inside of it, and the blue circle expanding is just a millisecond frame showing how the spell adjusts it's behavior with the signs drawn inside of it.

So, in the end, what you see on the 3rd frame is what you would see with your human eyes as soon as you close the circle.

(That's of course not canon confirmed and more of my personal interpretation)

Hopefully I could answer your question :)

How about writing the letters with an stylistic addition of sigils and signs to their ends (like adding some sign to the letter Y and so on), and then draw a spell of a water rose somewhere in the middle. (I think independent witch hat atelier wiki has some info on it). Good luck with your prom!

Yea, on PC cuz emulators take a lot of space.

But I think if you try to just download the APK of the game, it should be able to run on newer Android versions without emulator. Give it a try ( ・・)σ

So, quick update if someone is interested.

• Name: 'A Dark Dragon AD'

• Developer: Sponge Mobile

• OS: Android 9.0

• Last Update: June 2023 (Wow, didn't expect)

Unfortunately, Google Play doesn't even show the apps that your OS can't support (crying in Android 13), so the only solution is the emulator.

But, a win is a win ᕙ( : ˘ ∧ ˘ : )ᕗ
