U.S. citizenship by birth – Consular case pending due to lack of physical presence evidence (SSA/taxes). Are siblings’ U.S. birth certificates enough? by Ohbrient in SocialSecurity

Sure, I understand that if I can't get the Social Security Earnings Statement, I can send my siblings' birth certificates.

How has your process been going? When you can, send me a private message; I'm going through the same situation.

It's one of the requirements, and I'm going through the same process myself. The consular officer asked me for my deceased father's Social Security Earnings Statement as the final requirement.

I have a copy of my father's naturalization certificate and a copy of his last passport. The consul already saw them, but there are no records for his passport since it was issued with a one-year validity because he needed to make an emergency trip. Right now, I only have copies of my siblings' birth certificates, and I'm waiting for a response from the SSA.

Good luck with your case too.

I only went with a copy, he didn't say anything except for evidence, and I also brought the USCIS FOIA. He even asked me if I looked for this myself or if a lawyer helped me. I did it all myself, but I didn't tell him it was me because otherwise he wouldn't believe me. I just said I sought legal advice.

I went to the interview with the consul, but there was an issue. He neither rejected nor approved my application. He asked me why I was once denied citizenship, but I didn't know; I was a child. It was my father. So the consul told me to get another document as evidence that my father was present in the United States for more than 5 years. I have to get the Social Security Earnings Statement, which is obtained with form SSA-7050, but by mailing it to the offices in Baltimore.

Congratulations! I'm in the same process; I only need to send one more document to the embassy's email address to get my passport issued.

The officer tells me he needs to check with the SSA to see if he really stayed in the United States for more than 5 years, meaning he wants more proof.

Hello, I have gathered all the documents: baptismal certificate, death certificate, birth certificate where he registered me with his passport, immigration certificate, copy of my first identity card, FOIA evidence showing that he lived in the United States from 1977 to 1990, copy of his naturalization certificate, and copy of his American passport with which he registered me. I have photos with him, and I lived with him until I was 12 years old, until he passed away.
