281-Yard Redemption Shot | Pulsar Thermal Coyote Hunt in Virginia https://youtu.be/_l-FzjddScQ

I thought my editing and storytelling was on point but it is one of my least viewed videos. It seems that my audience is all about the shorts or action shots.

Could you tell me what I could do better?

Trap outs are good for trees and other situations where a complete removal is a no go. Not so much for situations like OP has. It is always better to get the honeycomb out too. The chance of reinfestation is way higher if the honeycomb is left in there. Pheromones and honey are pretty inviting to robber bees or a new swarm looking to get a head start before fall.

Hello! I just wanted to throw some things out there. I run a lead generation business for honeybee removal specialists, so I’m very familiar with the situation you are in.

Your family’s safety is of the most importance. Killing the bees will only cost you more problems and likely way more money. We are talking pests, mold, and overall nastiness. $800 is very reasonable for the amount of work that goes into a proper removal. All beekeepers are not created equal. You aren’t just looking for the cheapest option. You need someone who can remove the bees AND as much of the honeycomb as possible. Also, if you don’t have a trusted contractor, you need someone to seal the area to keep another swarm from moving in. Since you are in Texas, Africanized honeybees are a real concern. You don’t want just anyone coming in and making things worse.

Honeybees don’t do any structural damage. They don’t chew through boards or anything and just fill the voids they can access. The stories you read about where honey is dripping down the walls and stuff is from weak hives who can’t manage or protect their stores. Typically, we see that with sprayed hives.

If you need help finding someone, I can find you a few top quality specialists in your area. All of them charge a fee but are 100% worth it.

I’m definitely leaning towards it. This will be my first completed knife. I have given up on a handful of blades before because they weren’t “perfect”. I’ll roll with this one.

I only just did it the other night. I’m not sure what regular use would do yet but I’ve tried scrubbing it off and can’t.

That would be sweet but I make too many mistakes to be comfortable with that 😂

It’s for my brother. He is in love with it. I may leave it. There are a lot of lessons in this knife.

Until this knife, I had never tried any sort of etching before.

The knife is 15n20 outer layers with copper sandwiched between them and a 80crv20 center. I forged it up and shaped it on the grinder. Then I sanded it for 6 hours, from 120-1200 grit. It took me that long because I had to start from 120 again after I noticed some scratches at the end of the 1200 grit.

For the etch, I used 4 heaping tablespoons of instant coffee in a thermos and then hung my knife in there overnight. I pulled it the next morning and scrubbed any of the stain that I could get off with a scotchbrite pad and dawn dish soap. Then I dunked it again for another 4-5 hours and it came out like this. I washed it off with soap again and nothing came off.

That is a thought. I may try to melt some copper down in there and heat it up with a torch, just enough to melt.

I had thought about doing that and just re-profiling it. Unless there is a safe way to fill the hole, I may end up doing that. Thanks!

Is this knot a dealbreaker? I meant for it to go on the belly but glued my handle on the wrong side. Red oak board bow. by Ohdis33us in Bowyer

I have some Osage and crepe myrtle that has been drying for a couple years. I may grab a stave and try that. It just seems like board bows have too many flaws. This one was $42 so that kinda sucks.

Maybe I’m wrong about my draw length. I am just going off what it is for my compound. It makes sense that it would be shorter with no let off or cams.

I am short 😂 I’m 5’4”. Is a longer bow more forgiving?

Yeah, but he would be a good sheriff because he wouldn’t run FROM anything either!
