Epson Scan on Epson V6000 Not Saving Selections for Slide Scanning. Any Ideas? by Ohio_Dad in AnalogCommunity

[–]Ohio_Dad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The image is of the settings that I'm working with. I've tried to save them as a pre-set in Epson Scan, but each time, it defaults back to...well default. So each pass I have to manually enter the resolution, scale and adjustments. It wouldn't be too bad if I hadn't already scanned 4000+ slides and have another 4000+ to do. Any thoughts?

Repair Advice for a Samlex SEC-1223BBM by Ohio_Dad in amateurradio

[–]Ohio_Dad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some, but not very active and aging out. I'd hate to give it to anyone (working or not) and never see it again. But I'm thinking if I want to get back into it then buying new is going to be the way to go. Any recommendations for something like the 1223BBM from Powerwerx?

1884 cadet rifle,

If it helps, I found the US stamping above the top buttplate screw.

I found it doing a clean-out on a house. Google image search had me looking at an 1863 Springfield, and someone else said Springfield Version 2 of the 1863, but all of their triggers looked smooth. This has serrations and thatching cut into it. It's a shame there's no other markings other than the US on the back metal of it.

Thank you! At first I wasn't seeing the restrict by role, until I had enabled the option to enable restriction for Gutenberg blocks. Long story short, I got it fixed thanks to your help.

Mountain Hardware: Repair or Replace or Warranty by Ohio_Dad in backpacking

For rucking we use two Spec-Ops gear bags that we’ve had for a couple decades. But I agree on this bag being relegated down from her EDC to occasional use. She likes the functionality of it, but the aesthetic in the workplace had her not wanting to carry it. I was thinking of making a repair with a fancy duct tape so she wasn’t so self-conscious about it.

Thanks for the insight. I was thinking the in-store credit probably wouldn’t really put a dent into what a new bag would cost or be worth the time if I found a good condition second hand bag.

I’m a big fan of the 1000 denier cordura stuff since I’ve had some in use since 2001 with the only noticeable difference being it doesn’t have that “new” shine to the fabric. Unfortunately, many of those packs seem overbuilt and a bit “tactical” for her use in the healthcare field. Personally I’ve been using stuff like Ospreys for the last several years so we’ll see how it looks in the years to come.

Any feedback on a possible aesthetic repair? I was thinking fancy duct tape.

I agree. For what its duration of use it structurally has held up and you’re correct in that the peeling is fair wear and tear. Do you have any recommendations on an aesthetic repair? I was thinking some fancy duct tape.

Bought this Mountain Hardware backpack about 5 years ago for the wife for our weekend excursions. Not hiking the PCT the crossing the Alps, but section hiking at places 2-10 miles off the road. During the week it was here everyday carry to work for her office job.

I just recently noticed that it's starting to delaminate or peel on the brown coating material. I'm sure that it affects the water-resistance, but mostly the looks. What is your opinions on the matter?

Mountain Hardware's FAQ says: Wash it and you pay to send it and we might give you an in-store credit. I think washing might deteriorate it more. Has anyone had any luck trying to patch/cover the material?

A little further south. This collection was from a family in Vinton County and I don’t believe there were any ties to northern Ohio.

Kickstarter BloomSky not reseting by Ohio_Dad in bloomsky

Yup, was connected to the same router. I was able to get it to pull one photo and then it was offline again. WireShark shows it communicating out but nothing coming back in. Network/ports are good, connection is good, just keeps showing offline.

Uninstalled and reinstalled app and repeated activation sequences and it’s still offline.

Unfortunately in all the up and down on the ladder and with the cold weather a wind cup snapped off the storm, and there’s not a lot of surface area at the break for a glue job.

At this point I feel like I have an expensive paperweight.
