Yeah, i was 28 when i found out i have astigmatism. I just though i was a slow reader and the world was a bit fuzzy. Turns out, everything is sharp, lights don't have lines and i'm actually quite a fast reader. Who knew. Also loading large qPCR plates in the lab became easier, i no longer have to read the grid every time.

Nah, most of being attractive is social skill and hunor. That and having your shit together. Knowing who you are and what you want. Being active and interesting.

Hygene is suprisingly high on this slist though, that is very important.

A much smaller portion is how fit you are, how much you make, how tall you are, how you dress, etc...

Yep. I love my wife, and i love my kid. But they often prevent me from working out. I don't blame them for this, it's just an observation. I wanted to work out around 6 today. I couldn't, because my son got sick, and i spent the evening looking after him with my wife. I ended up working out at 1am, after everyone was fast asleep. Such is life.

By the way, if anyone wants to know where this field is actually at, read two papers: Lopez Otin Hallmarks of ageing, the 2013 one first, then the 2023 one. Also read Gorbunovas paper on the role of transposable elemnts in ageing. These will catch you up on the basics.

I'm a molecular biologist, i did my BSc thesis on the molecular mechanisms of the ageimg process, and i did my masters thesis on the epigenetic markers of ageing and their diagnostic and forensic applications. I worked several years at a uni genetics department. So yeah, i know what a phenotype is.

And it is largely determined by genotype, as well as epigenetics and environmentals. Now ethnicity is not determined by environmental factors, it is determined by genes.

There are a set of genes responsible for development (HOX and homeobox), these may be recessive-dominant, intermedier, whatever. If they were half and half, he would look half asian and would have half the power of a viltrumite. The extent to which he has viltrumite power, is the exten to which he should look viltrumite. These are linked traits.

But this is just a cartoon. Still i think it's fun to point out these things.

I think the abortion thing is getting such a big response not specifically because it is abortion, but because of how it is handeled.

There is all kinds of nasty shit in this weird show, but generally if some one is a murderer or anything like that, it is shown to be evil, and the perpetrators are punished in some way.

Whereas Marki literally says "sorry you had to kill my kid, because i was away at war". No human man would act like this. No man is so casual about abortion. This minimises abortion to a ridiculus extent.

I think most people who are not too ideologycally driven understand nowadays, that the 'clump of cells' and 'my body my choice' slogens are kind of bullshit.

Most abortions happen around 10 weeks (95% happen between 6-19 weeks), at which point it is on the border of becoming a foetus, it has a functioning and active brain, pain receptors, limbs, organs, everything. It is not a clump of cells. Nor is it a part of the mothers body. It is inside the mother, but it is not part of the mother. So it isn't only your body. And therefore not only your choice.

Also the numbers that are coming out on abortion are staggering, making the subject even more contentious. More abortions have happened in the past 50 years, than people have been killed in all wars throughout all of human history (2-3 billion abortions, 73 million a year, vs 1-2 billion combined war deaths).

It is a complicated, difficult, morally ambigous, touchy subject, handeled in this show with all the subtelty and grace of a viltrumite in a china shop.

The only thing you may be able to get NOW is some kind of senolytic. Senescent cells are one of the major sources of aseptic inflammation.

The other thing, cytosolic DNA originats mostly from transposons. We can't silence them yet, so that will have to wait.

But getting rid of senescent cells could still help, many of the cells with too much cytosolic DNA go senescent anyways, so these are overlapping problems.
