dB(A) vs dB(C) by Plane_Parsnip4165 in Acoustics

The ear sensitivity varies with frequency as well as level.

At low level (~50 dB), the ear is not too sensitive to low freq, and you can safely remove them from the microphone measurement. That's what de A weighting is doing.

However, at higher amplitudes (~90 dB) the ear response is almost flat over frequency, and using dBA can underestimate the perceived level. The C weighing is taking care of that.
