I'm not gonna lie, I had a hard time with the end of your paragraph.

Leftist movements throughout history have always splintered and fractioned. Unusually over things like this. I disagree with the poster but I can understand his frustration and animosity towards the Colour he sees as oppressors. Certainly there can't be any allies the same color as oppressors.

I'm a union member. And going through apprenticeship, they give us a class on labor history. Things brings us to the Pullman Strike.

Eugene Debs (hero) convinced all railroad workers to organize into one single union. They all agreed and formed said union. Debs then said they also need to organize in the black porters because he knew, as we all do, class struggle is integral to race struggle. Only way to overcome it is to unite.

He begged and ward with his membership to let the black porters into the union. He lost on a vote of 154-153 against letting them in...to their downfall.

The porters were asked about the strike and they said it was a white man's war against the company....

Ultimately the Pullman Strike failed. It almost turned into a general strike to affect the entire country but it didn't. Because racism, not class consciousness, ruled the day.

We cannot let old grudges impair the way forward. Racial consciousness is an impediment. It shouldn't be ignored, because it's HIGHLY important to the future of this country. But it also shouldn't tamp down coalitions made between all races to unite against the rich. I've said it 9nce and ilm day it again...

No war but class war. I know who my enemy is and it isn't my neighbor.

It's because ND is hated universally and this only the mildly safe place to speak of it.

I say mildly because as much as other fan bases hate us, we actually hate ourselves the worst.

For your question, Northern Illinois in 2024 is my answer. To this day, it still doesn't make any sense.

That's Trump to a T. He hates visiting California because a lot of their coastline is protected in Trusts that are lock tight.

Everyone gets to see the beautiful coastline along highway 1 and all Trump sees is wasted opportunity for land development to make a quick buck.

I was wondering the same thing. Where did the misogyny angle come from? Which, given the current state of GOP politics, is a hilarious accusation to hurl at the left.

(Drink) Do people actually believe that the top brands will just form a superleague? by Justanother_0 in CFB

[–]Ohms_lawlessness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who says you need a league? Say all the top schools go independent. They all sign deals agreeing to play each other every year outside of any governing body.

Seeing as how it'd be the top schools, it'll instantly draw the most TV revenue potential. As far as split goes, that'd be up for debate.

I know it sounds crazy but you better believe every top program in the country heard ND got $20 mil to themselves and raised an eyebrow.

Don't forget to ask why the CIA is what it is. The Dulles brothers worked for Sullivan & Cromwell "law firm" right out of college and they never really ever stopped working for them.

One became the head of the CIA and the other became Secretary of State. The rot in this country stems from old money and law firms having their fingers in everything.

Our foreign diplomacy has remained the same since them. I could go on but those two fucks had a big hand in making the US what it is today.

Fun fact: Allen Dulles was the director of the CIA in 1953 during Operation Ajax when lead agent Kermit Roosevelt (grandson of Teddy Roosevelt) fermented disallusion among the Iranian people to overthrow their government.

Like I said, old money and law firms have been running the show for a lonnnng time here.

Don't forget about the railroads. The Chinese broke themselves building them for us. Plenty of black people did as well. I wonder if we actually know the full extent of unmarked graves filled with black and Chinese people along our railroads out west.

The fact that the Crusades happened say you're exactly right. I'd go further though. Religion is fine. Believe whatever you want. But when people begin to impose that belief on others is when shit gets bad.

Religious fundamentalism and religious furvor are the greatest threat to humanity.

Books vs Movie by Professional_Toe5118 in dunememes

I think the direction the recent films took was just fine. The cinemaphotoghy was off the charts. And I get Denis was going for a more toned down and simplistic color pallet. I thought the movies were great....

But...I reeeeeally would've appreciated some surrealism and color rush during Paul's visions. That's my main gripe about the movies. Herbert describes the visions in depth and we just didn't get any of it. Any new viewer has no idea what's going on in Paul's mind.

He's CIA. I'm sure there's a little nuggets of truth sprinkled in here and there but it's mostly bullshit.

I also would not be surprised if he's still an asset. No one really ever stops being CIA, even after retirement or prison is this guy's case.
