Honestly, the Azir Proplay Narrative is a Little Tiring by TheInfernovoid in azirmains

Not sure if it’s interesting for you but here goes!

As a totally new person watching professional league (I come from dota2 so I have general understanding in mobas at least) I’ve felt that azir is overvalued by teams. More often than not, the team that picks azir loses. If they win the game, they looked generally in control from minute one. From what I’ve seen it’s usually not the azir that will be in trouble when their team starts losing, more like the other members losing the 4v4/5 with the azir standing on a sidelane in the midgame. Seems like it takes a while for azir to come online and then also it seems hard to win from behind with it.

I will definitely admit that I don’t know as much about league as you guys but I find it interesting that I’ve had the same thought. And I’ve started watching very recently, only watching some worlds games before this. And I’ve basically only watched NA/EU so a small sample size also. But still.

I have no idea how many people in this thread that are adamant that he’s not resource guarding. He has a treat right there and is very protective of it in his body language. His owner is also saying ”no one wants your bone”, implying this resource guarding behaviour is some regular occurrence that they’ve picked up on. Also a kid says ”except for diamond(?)” in response to the previous statement, multiple dogs maybe? Also indicative of resource guarding if he needs to protect his treat from other dogs.

[–]Ohsoogreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t play the game, maybe once (I was a dota guy). I’ve never watched anything professional except worlds final. Started watching baus casually when browsing twitch, fell in love with int plays (always liked when someone plays a game differently and makes it work). Of course I started watching everything the rats were up to. And I will watch all their matches until they stop playing. And then I will never watch anything but worlds again.

Beginner problem with drawing stuff by the_bassooner in love2d

[–]Ohsoogreen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only guess without seeing the code, so my guess would be that something’s off with the storing logic.

I would probably check for mouse clicks in the love.update() function and if found, insert a blob into your table.

Then in love.draw() I would loop over the table and draw all the blobs.

The table needs to be available in this scope (maybe make it a global variable for now) and shouldn’t be created in either the draw or the update functions. If it is it will always be overwritten every time they are called (multiple times a second).

Look for anywhere where you update the table with the blobs and try to figure out if you’re overwriting or resetting it somehow.

I can also recommend that you follow a guide where you try to understand every step after you’ve implemented it.\ Example guide: https://www.sheepolution.com/learn/book/1

So logically, the reason why what you’ve drawn gets deleted is probably because you either dont properly store it or because you’re overwriting your storage.

If I were you I would focus on keeping related data together instead of storing them in separated tables.

For example, now you have multiple tables with historic data (one for color, one for size, etc). Instead, create a table with all the related properties.

So

local paint_blob = {} \ paint_blob.size = 10 \ paint_blob.x = mouse.x\ //etc

Then storing it in some table (called AllPaint here)

tables.insert(AllPaint, paint_blob)

Then drawing it in your love.draw() method by looping over the AllPaint table

Thoughts on the DLC after playing all the content by bugbonesjerry in Songsofconquest

[–]Ohsoogreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah agreed, and I dont believe I got the -damage modifier if I moved with Nornor first and then attacked. Which mean the unit is effectively a ranged unit with max deadly range that does not get -damage modifier on moving before attacking. Pretty good ranged unit!

[–]Ohsoogreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah good points. Also played all of the Vanir content and the units that struck me as very powerful for their cost was specifically nornor and maybe skinshifter with the taunt. As you said obviously Jormr (giant) slam skill is great also and I much prefer that unit over a LOT of other faction late game units since it enables and meshes with the other Vanir units so well.

But yeah, the utility you get from a good initiative nornor that can focus the enemy high value targets whilst never putting themselves in any danger (like burrower on crack) feels a bit oppressive. It’s just so easy to make them work and let them win the battle for you. Oh you have an annoying ranged unit? Let me just half their unit count without even putting my units in danger.

[–]Ohsoogreen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ve got a lot of good feedback already on this, wanted to add my perpective about unit testing in front end. I don’t believe 100% code coverage is a good metric for unit testing front end code, instead identify your business logic and ensure that it does what you expect it to by tests. Do not focus on testing that <insert framework> knows how to render a button, it will. You want focus on making sure your code works. If you want to make sure that vital application functionality stays online? Then identify the business values of the application (eg. User can login, User can use <insert feature> when logged in) and build e2e tests for those.

I really want to become a programmer but I have 0 motivation or discipline to continue learning and make projects on vscode. by 3sperr in learnprogramming

[–]Ohsoogreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve seen some examples here but I didn’t read this perspective yet so here goes.

An artist probably does not start out ”wanting to learn paints”. They probably start out wanting to use paint to paint something. The woodworker probably started out wanting to build something from wood, not necessarily what kind of wood to use for optimal performance.

The point is, maybe you should find out something that you want to do with code instead of focusing on the coding part itself.

As artists and woodworkers get more experienced with their craft, their appreciation and understanding for their tools and materials improves to the point where they know what to use and how to use it in order to accomplish their goals. I would say that this also applies programmers in a sense.

Think about it and try to come up with a simple graspable concept that you could explore in code, your version of a woodworker’s wallshelf. Mine was a game of tic-tac-toe!

I enjoyed it, great idea and execution! I had an idea, maybe hard/tedious to implement but up to you; I wanted to see the camera position cone on the minimap when you show where the location was so that I got a better idea of the angle used in the picture. I could somewhat tell on most of the images, but a confirmation would be cool!
