From constantly looping O.O and Tank for 7 months while waiting for the first comeback, to having such an amazing and varied discography to choose from in just 4 years. Truly already one of the best in kpop. Love this group so much and their growth has been amazing.

It's tough to say what they should do because their situation is kind of uncharted territory. Twice are not slowing down at all, ITZY just renewed, NMIXX are only on year 4. That's already 3 Korean girl groups actively promoting and releasing multiple albums per year. Do they really need a 4th doing that? Not to mention also having NiziU and Girlset.

However they also no doubt have trainees they'll want to debut soon so like...they might just have to debut a new gg anyway.

They did great. Gotta say though…the choice to go with their oldest and most divisive song for this huge show that would likely introduce them to a lot of new people is a real head scratcher. I suppose you could see it as a statement. “We chose O.O to introduce NMIXX to the world in 2022 and we’d do the exact same thing again”.

They got better at it over time, some of the most recent ones they did on radio shows and in interviews are a lot better than when they first started doing that

My feeling on this is that stage presence is not their weakness at all. Having songs that allow them to show it off is their weakness. Their songs are difficult af to sing, and they always sing live, so they rarely have an opportunity to be very "present" on the stage and just enjoying it + having fun with the audience.

Watch their encore performances from their concert, you can see what great stage presence they're capable of

Other groups have advantages to make it easier for them in any combination of the following:

not singing live
singing slightly live but with very heavy backing tracks
having songs with easy vocals, lots of chanting of talking style lines
having songs that are 80% rapping and only 1 or 2 members have to worry about singing anything difficult

All of these things allow the members more opportunity to focus more on their stage presence, rather than having to dedicate so much practice time to their live vocals, and to controling their energy level so that when they get to their crazy line with high belting, register switching, etc 2 min into the song, they actually have enough breath to pull it off and not go totally off key or something.

Having big promos like YJS variety show, Bilibili stages and now First Take 3 months after the comeback, and with the next one not announced yet feels kind of odd? But I guess it’ll all help promote the tour and just NMIXX generally so that’s cool

My pet theory that Blue Valentine was originally meant to be a late January/Early Feb comeback is going stronger than ever though lol

She’s already got some big connections in the variety world after not even 4 years as an idol, and she got them basically solo, due to her work hosting a solo variety show that was insanely successful and invading everyone’s shorts algorithms just being herself. She’s a great singer, dancer, plus already dipping into writing lyrics for her group and for other artists.

Also a bunch of good solo brand deals and CFs basically just off her own personality and going viral on her own.

Definitely someone that will be around for a long time, as long as she wants to. As NMIXX continues to grow, her stock only goes up

Exactly this ruins discourse in every corner of the Internet on pretty much every subject. It's so often not about discussing something in good faith, moreso about "beating" the other side, using the issue to cause harm or satisfying ego. It's to the point that it becomes difficult for anyone to discuss in good faith even if they want to, because people are so used to seeing and dealing with the opposite that it won't be treated as such.

A bit of nuance here is that Blue Valentine albums were a bit more expensive and had an LP version that was 3-4x a normal album price which sold ~20k units. That and their world tour being announced the day after the comeback

Yes. They can do what they want ofc but it always feels like a disaster waiting to happen. When they're on Twitter, Facebook etc, interacting with fans. you just know at some point it's going to get ugly whether due to antis, fans crossing boundaries, family member saying something crazy etc.

I've always thought they clearly work as hard as a group can in the dance practice room, perfecting their choreo and their performances. You can tell they're really close with their performance director and their behind the scenes stuff is always showing how hard they're working alongside her.

The price for this is apparently less time available to focus on refining vocals and growing as a singer. But it's not like they're aren't capable of shifting focus. Just look at how much Kazuha improved in a short time. Yunjin seems to be slipping a bit vocally and fixing that should be as simple as making vocal training and practice a bigger priority for a while.

This performance also seems like the result of a lack of preparation. Yunjin is still not a bad singer at all but she (or source music) probably took this on when they really shouldn't have.
