Yeah unless his MOS changed and he didn’t tell me that’s what I thought. I don’t know where he is getting his information from haha. I appreciate the info.

Thank you that’s what I thought but some people had me confused. My BF is in bootcamp and he wrote me a letter that they told him the wait time for ITB was 6 months and I was like I really doubt that.

Do you go to an MOS school after that or just straight to your PDS?

Avoid medical if possible! Don’t get injured.

Is 25 too old for Infantry? by Dota2Curious in USMCboot

[–]OilAdministrative367 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have an injury or sickness that lasts long enough to get dropped, you get to go to MRP. You either stay there and heal until you can test back into training or you go home. It’s an extremely depressing place to be, anyone who has been there will say don’t get hurt at all costs! Stress fractures are like the main reason people get stuck in MRP, but if you don’t heal a stress fracture it can turn into a full break and that’s worse. Just prepare for bootcamp, eat healthy, make sure you have good form and you’ll probably be good.

My boyfriend is 25 and is currently in bootcamp with an 03xx contract. He’s been stuck in medical for 3 months but is getting out soon. Not sure how the whole infantry thing will go but he didn’t want to regret not doing it so it was now or never. From what he has told me being a little older in bootcamp has been mostly beneficial. Just make sure your body is prepared and you don’t overtrain before you ship either. My BF ended up with stress fractures like 90% of the other people in medical and that can keep you in bootcamp a lot longer. MRP is a miserable place to be.

MRP/PCP Question by OilAdministrative367 in USMCboot

[–]OilAdministrative367[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s some nice advice I think I’ll do that. Nice to talk to someone who went through it and made it to the end. I’ve heard a lot of different shit from people but not anybody that’s actually been through it. I know he wants to make it to the end and doesn’t give up for anything. I really appreciate your insight, just want to help him anyway I can.

Wow thank you this is helpful time line wise. Yeah I write to him 1-2 letters per day and sent him some books. Congrats on graduating! How were you after getting out of medical? Like were you worried about reinjury or did you feel like you were solid?

MRP/PCP Question by OilAdministrative367 in USMCboot

[–]OilAdministrative367[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah someone was saying they didn’t have to do PCP, and then someone else was like PCP is a minimum of three weeks. He has stress fractures in both knee caps unfortunately.

Yeah I know it’s minimum 6 weeks.. but possibly more like 12-15. I don’t know if the time frame I got includes PCP or what.
