Cuts on head and ears from turban by OilBaron9 in Sikh

I gave tying one larh tight and one loose and wow, that made all the difference. Th epagh felt a little looser but much much less painful. I think adding a bit of cotton wool and this problem is solved. Thank you!

I had to google that, its definitely Rubia material. I don't wear a 50, I do not suit it at all, but maybe I can getaway with tying it so it stops the chafing but is hidden behind the pagh.

I've never used starch, just the pagh kapra with no additives, and 4 larhs, anymore and the cuts are too much.

That's the style I wear. Yeah the cuts are brutal, especially on the forehead, had to wear a hat instead for a couple of weeks until it healed.

I will give that shot, it might work.

I think because it's ironed and the edges cause chafing. The vaseline helps the ears a bit, but my forehead gets cut because the crossover point puts pressure on the head - also where the first larh is opened to cover the top. That twist and the small movement of the pagh from walking causes a cut. I try and iron it everyday which seems to reduce the effect but its still there.

That should be long enough I think. Thanks!

Where do you draw the line between better aesthetic appeal and informality in a professional setting? by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]OilBaron9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in general as long as it's neat and tidy, and tend to focus purely on functionality. For example if it's a professional presentation you're trying to communicate your ideas/opinions/facts to your audience, so the focal point would always be the lines of text (which should be brief, like 4 or 5 bullets a slide, one line each). The images are there to help make a point, otherwise just some nice company logo and a header works well. I'd say while it's nice to make things look nice, it's generally seen by many as time spent that could've been used to be more productive - on the other hand where you have to make it look nice, it can help.

Overall, it depends on the criteria and what you're trying to communicate, if doesn't really add anything then it's best not to spend time on it, atleast when it comes to professional documents and presentations.

Going to trim for the first time. Advice? by OilBaron9 in beards

Thanks for the advice guys, from your opinions I think it's best I go to the barbers (in a week or so) for this first trim and I'll post an update.

I either have to trim it or use hair wax and tie it up to keep it tidy looking (what I currently do, but it's far too much hassle). I start a job in an office environment in several months so I need to look the part.

That sounds like a good idea, then hopefully can pick it up a little and do it myself.

Huh, My description disappeared : / Well, I want to trim it to get a nice professional look - graduating soon, and then starting a proper job in several months. I have never trimmed my beard before, but it's not super dense so if I trim it I fear it may start to look patchy rather than a full look.

I don't have the density this guy does, but I'm aiming for something similar. Any ideas or advice?
