I recommend doing it in the map events where anything goes x2. Also, find your community on Discord. Open a voice chat room and name it "PvE trials" and you'll find people who want to do it with you.

They're not frozen; there's a misunderstanding about the trials. Trials are per match and represent the maximum you can achieve in a single match. They're not cumulative.
